Alfred Gangata takes office: A closer look at Malawi’s Minister of State

….Evaluating competence, credibility, and public expectations in the newly appointed executive role.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Alfred Gangata’s appointment as Minister of State marks a significant moment in the new administration.

His role will require balancing political obligations with administrative efficiency and public service delivery.

Assessing his performance requires examining not only his personal competence but also the broader dynamics of the cabinet.

Gangata brings prior experience and expertise from his previous positions, which will inform his approach to governance.

Citizens and analysts will closely watch his track record to determine if past achievements translate into effective leadership in this new role.

The Minister of State must demonstrate strong managerial and technical skills to coordinate initiatives across ministries and government agencies.

Equally important is how the cabinet reflects Malawi’s regional, ethnic, and cultural diversity.

Gangata’s appointment contributes to this balance, which remains a cornerstone of inclusive governance.

Gender representation within the cabinet is also under scrutiny, as public expectations increasingly demand equitable inclusion.

Political cohesion is another critical factor, and Gangata will need to navigate relationships with allied parties and factions to maintain stability.

Policy alignment with the president’s agenda is essential to ensure that initiatives reflect the administration’s priorities.

Gangata’s ideological fit with the broader government vision will determine his ability to drive reforms and implement new policies effectively.

Integrity and credibility are vital in establishing public trust, particularly given Malawi’s history of political controversies.

Gangata must demonstrate ethical conduct, transparency, and a commitment to responsible governance to gain citizen confidence.

Team dynamics within the cabinet will affect his capacity to work collaboratively, manage conflicts, and contribute to collective decision-making.

Leadership style is critical, as Gangata will need to guide staff and stakeholders while responding to emerging crises efficiently.

Public expectations remain high, with citizens looking for improved service delivery, policy clarity, and responsiveness to societal needs.

Effective communication will be key in explaining government initiatives and defending decisions in the face of scrutiny.

Early indicators of performance, such as policy announcements, budget management, and stakeholder engagement, will reveal the minister’s practical effectiveness.

Monitoring Gangata’s initial months in office will provide insight into his ability to transform expectations into tangible results.

A comparative analysis between what is promised and what is delivered over the first three to six months will distinguish real capability from political hype.

Ultimately, Alfred Gangata’s tenure as Minister of State will serve as a measure of how effectively the administration combines political appointments with competent, results-oriented governance.

Influencer Anna Muller Addresses Backlash After Husband Took Her Last Name

TikTok influencer Anna Muller responded to criticism over her husband, Cameron Muller, taking her last name after they were recently married.

In an interview with People, published on Sunday, October 5, Anna spoke about the couple’s decision, which was formalized via legal paperwork filed by Cameron at the end of September.

“A lot of people think, ‘You flipped tradition,’ and that’s not what happened,” Anna told the outlet. “We evolved past it. It’s so important that there’s more conversation and it’s more normalized that there are different ways to go about partnerships that can be more equal.”

The TikTok video that sparked outrage was shared by Anna on September 27. It showed Cameron walking through the couple’s front door with paperwork in his hand as a caption read, “Just married and he officially took my last name.” Cameron excitedly told the camera in the clip, “I am officially Mr. Muller.”

Influencer Becca Murray Defends Setting Up a Divorce Registry Post Split

More than 4,000 comments were left on the post, which saw more than 2.2 million views, including several damning conclusions. “He took your dad’s last name. You’re now siblings,” wrote one TikTok user, while another commented, “My wife and I could never. This is embarrassing imo.”

After initially labelling the backlash “outrageous” via TikTok several days later, Anna also took to her Instagram on Sunday to speak further about the criticism. “You know that the comments you make are public, right? Accountability will also be public 🤍,” Anna wrote alongside multiple screenshots of critical comments. “This is addressing a viral video of mine that has gotten a lot of backlash and controversy (which is actually absurd) particularly because all the video is about is my husband taking my last name when we got married. That’s literally it, that’s the outrage. Apparently.”

During her interview with People, Anna was joined by Cameron who shared his own take on the ordeal. “It wasn’t a lengthy, drawn-out conversation,” Cameron said, with the outlet noting that the pair share German heritage so taking Muller as his own last name “made a lot of sense for both of them.”

Bachelor Nation’s Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes Are Married

Cameron continued, “I was surprised because for me, this is very normal. I value the partnership that we have. We are equals, which is why it was not assumed that Anna was going to take my name. I was surprised that people were so upset about a man taking a woman’s name or that there was even a conversation around not taking my name.”

Anna also expanded on her thoughts while talking to the outlet, criticizing social media users who believe that a man taking his wife’s last name diminishes his masculinity. “If your masculinity depends on submission, I don’t think that’s masculinity,” Anna said. “That screams insecurity. A name or tradition isn’t what makes a man, either. I think it’s actions, it’s character.”

Anna also offered some words of advice to her social media haters. “Tap into what’s meaningful, what’s what matters, what feels right, what feels good, and go into that in more of an equal intuitive space,” she told the outlet. “Giving yourself the space and opportunity to talk about that as a partnership and feel out what feels good.”

Ben Stiller Says He Was ‘Lost’ During Separation From Wife Christine Taylor

Ben Stiller is pulling back the curtain on his years-long separation from his wife, Christine Taylor.

After Ben’s dad, Jerry Stiller, died in 2020, the actor started to consider the possibility of making a film about his famous parents. While his career at the time was doing well, Ben, 59, couldn’t say the same about his personal life.

“My career had been going along for a long time but things actually weren’t great in my personal life,” Ben recalled in the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost, which premiered at the New York Film Festival on Sunday, October 5, per People. “I just felt out of balance and unhappy and kind of disconnected from my family, from my kids and just kind of a little bit lost.”

He continued, “I started to think about my parents and all the stress and tension I remember seeing as a kid and the pressure when they were working together and how they stayed together through it. … I think I wanted to somehow understand how they did it.”

Ben Stiller Shares Rare Look Into His Marriage With Christine Taylor

Ben and Taylor were together for 17 years before announcing their separation in 2017.

“With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,” the pair told Us Weekly via a joint statement at the time. “Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”

The pair — who share Ella, 23, and Quinn, 20 — revealed in 2022 that they got back together.

“Then, over the course of time, [our relationship] evolved,” he told Esquire in an interview published in 2022, explaining that he moved back in with Taylor and their kids during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We were separated and got back together and we’re happy about that. It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic.”

Ben Stiller Reflects on Years-Long Separation With Wife Christine Taylor

Since their rekindling, Ben has given glimpses of his relationship dynamic with Taylor. In January, Ben recalled that his marriage was not “in a great place” after moving from California back to New York after the release of Zoolander 2.

“There was a lot going on,” Ben told The New York Times. “When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was, what my life felt like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family unit.”

He continued, “It was like three or four years that we weren’t together but we always were connected. In my mind, I never didn’t want us to be together. I don’t know where Christine was, you’d have to ask her, but Covid put us all together in the same house.”

When the reporter called the timing “an act of God,” Ben agreed with the sentiment.

“It was almost a year of living in the same house before we were actually together,” Ben explained. “But I’m so grateful for it, and I think not that many people do come back together when they separate. There’s nothing like that, when you come back. You have so much more appreciation for what you have, because we know we could not have it.”

Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost screens in select theaters beginning on October 17 and is available to stream on Apple TV+ October 24.

2025 TNM Super League: Nomads leave Dynamos wandering at Dedza stadium

….Dedza 0-1 Wanderers

By Edwin Mbewe

DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-One of the Blantyre giants, Mighty Wanderers left Dynamos of Dedza Wandering when they stunned the host with a 0-1 margin in front of fully parked Stadium.

The highly contested match ended nil-nil in the first stanza, as Dedza thought they would do better in the second half being at home.

This wasn’t to be as the visitors scored second half early goal through their seasonal midfielder -Isaac Kaliat who had beaten Dedza goalkeeper, Donnex Mwakisinga with a hammering shot.

The home team started the match on high note with Marco Chiwaya releasing Luke Chima whose effort was palmed away by Nomads goal-minder-Dalitso Khungwa and on rebound he placed his effort wide in the very first minute of the half.

Wanderers replied so quickly as Stanley Sanudi whipped the ball from a free-kick but one of Dynamos’ defenders headed it away for safety in the 5th minute of the second half of the match.

In the 10th minute Dedza Dynamos’ Yasin Chida beat his marker before he released the ball to Bright Masebo on the left but his close range pass was too much as it didn’t meet one of his Strikers.

In the 15th minute, the Nomads showed some glimpse of good football as they exchanged sexy passes among Stanley Sanudi, Felix Zulu, Blessings Singini but lost possession to Bright Masebo who played a backheel to Frank Chikufenji, the former Mighty Tigers player who played a long ball to find his Striker but the assistant referee’s flag was up for offside.

Blessings Mwalirino unleashed a powerful shot but Mwakasinga flew to make a spectacular save which resulted into a first corner kick to Wanderers that Dedza easily dealt with in the 19th minute.

The visitors made their first substitution in the 24th minute as Isaac Kaliati replaced Rajab Nyirenda. In the 30th minute the Nomads won a free-kick that Kaliat took a short one to Mpinganjira who tried to find his way into the penalty box but his intended cross was blocked for a corner.

From that moment Wanderers started piling pressure to the home side and for how long could Dedza withstand the heat?

Marco Chiwaya well controlled the ball before walking away from seasonal defender Stanley Sanudi, he played a diagonal pass to Bright Masebo on the right flank but the flag was up for offside in the 41st minute.

Dedza seemed to have ignited fire in the closing minutes of the first stanza as in the 42nd minute, Marco Chiwaya played a good pass to Masebo who headed it down to Chifuniro Mpinganjira in the box but he was to heavy and too shy as Sanudi beat him to rescue the danger, this resulted into the corner-kick that Nomads defended with much ease.

However, in the very dot of the stanza Dedza Dynamos bench wanted the referee, Easter Zimba to flash a card to Sanudi for fouling Chiwaya but the man in black was not moved untill he blew the whistle to end the first half, with the score margin at 0-0.

In the second stanza,it was now the Nomads who seemed to have refilled their tanks well as they started on a high note, in the 47th minute Adam Wallace drew a foul close to the penalty box, the referee gave Wanderers a free-kick, Kaliati took the responsibility but his effort met nobody in blue shirt.

A minute later, the Nomads efforts were answered as they scored through Isaac Kaliati who beat Mwakasinga with a hammering shot in the 48th minute.

In the 58th minute Wanderers appealed for a penalty after Adam Wallace’s left-footed shot came off the arm of one of the Dedza defenders but Zimba waved for a play on.

Dynamos head coach Alex Ngwira made a change in the 62nd minute as Gift Magola and David Habu replaced Frank Chikufenji and Yasin Chida, while Bright Masebo was replaced by Winnie Chimutu in the 69th minute.

Wanderers kept pushing for goals, Adam Wallace received a good ball from Isaac Kaliati but whistled his effort just over the bar in the 73rd minute.

Nomads made another change in the 79th minute as Promise Kamwendo replaced Blessings Mwalirino.

In the 80th minute, Kaliati had another clear-cut chance for the Nomads with a goal gapping but he decided to send his effort into the air.

Cameroonian Striker Samma Tanjong and Dan Kudonto came on for Adam Wallace and Clement Nyondo in the 84th minute.

Wisdom Mpinganjira could have scored a dying minute goal as he invited goalkeeper, Mwakasinga to make a save after he combined well with Promise Kamwendo and soon Easter Zimba blew the whistle to end the match, and yes Dynamos were left wandering at Dedza Stadium as the Nomads maintained the second position on the table.

Isaac Kaliati was later player of the match.

Since 2022 the Nomads have never lost a game at Dedza Stadium, on 9 September 2022 the two sides played to a 2-2 draw, on August 18, 2024 they played to a goalless draw and Sunday’s victory meant the Blantyre completed a double over the Dedza based side.

The Nomads remain second on the ladder with 42 points from 19 games four points shy to the table leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who came from 0-1 behind to win it 2-1 over the defending champions Silver Strikers at Kamuzu Stadium.

FOX Sports Faces Backlash for Sending Mark Sanchez ‘Thoughts and Prayers’

FOX Sports is facing some social media backlash after sending “thoughts and prayers” to broadcaster Mark Sanchez following his hospitalization and subsequent arrest.

Sanchez, 38, was involved in a violent incident in Indianapolis on Saturday, October 4. The former NFL quarterback was stabbed, then later arrested by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police while recovering in the hospital.

On Sunday, October 5, Sanchez was charged by Marion County prosecutors for his alleged role in the incident. He has been charged with battery with injury, public intoxication and unlawful entry of a vehicle. An initial hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, with a bond set at $300.

During the pregame broadcast of “FOX NFL Kickoff” on Sunday, host Charissa Thompson sent her thoughts and prayers to Sanchez — who was originally scheduled to provide color commentary during the Indianapolis Colts game against the Las Vegas Raiders — as well as everyone involved in the incident.

Mark Sanchez Arrest Details: Star Stabbed, Pepper Sprayed by Driver

“Friday night in Indianapolis, one of our team members, Mark Sanchez, was involved in an incident that we are still trying to wrap our heads around,” Thompson said on the broadcast. “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, and all of those involved.”

Sanchez was replaced by Brady Quinn on the game broadcast. Prior to kickoff, Quinn’s partner, Chris Myers, also commented on the incident.

“I’m Chris Myers, along with Brady Quinn, who is stepping in for Mark Sanchez,” Myers said during the broadcast’s introduction. “And obviously we all want to send out our thoughts and prayers to Mark and those involved in Friday’s incident, as we get ready for today’s game.”

Some fans on social media didn’t take too kindly to the comments.

“How about some ‘thoughts and prayers’ for the 69 yo delivery driver he attacked for no good reason?” said one social media user.

“Nope. I’m with the 69 year old guy he tried to kill. The pictures of him are horrible,” said another user.

That same day, the family of the 69-year-old man involved in the incident provided shocking photos of the man’s injuries to local media outlet FOX59, adding that they wish to remain anonymous due to the media attention surrounding the incident.

Family of Victim in Mark Sanchez Stabbing Release Photos of Severe Injuries

“The family of the victim provided the following images of the victim’s injuries, showing the damage inflicted on the 69-year-old during the attack,” the outlet reported. “The family wishes to remain anonymous due to the attention around the incident, but said the man was cut in the fight and it went through his cheek and hit his tongue.”

According to a FOX59 report, Indianapolis police were called to Loughmiller’s Pub and Eatery at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, where they found Sanchez suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.

The 69-year-old man was also found nearby, with cut wounds on his face. The man was working as a delivery driver between the Westin Hotel and the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown at the time.

According to an affidavit for probable cause obtained by FOX59, Sanchez allegedly approached the man at a loading dock, and the two were seen talking before the interaction turned physical, to the point where the man allegedly felt that he was in danger.

Rihanna Makes 1st Public Appearance Since Giving Birth to 3rd Baby

Rihanna made her first public appearance since giving birth to her and ASAP Rocky’s newborn daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers.

Rihanna and Rocky, both 37, were spotted riding in a black, open-top convertible around the streets of Los Angeles on Friday, October 3. (Rocky turned 37 on Friday.)

While Rocky looked dapper in a brown suit with a striped tie and oval sunglasses, Rihanna’s outfit brought the edge. The Fenty mogul rocked a black motorcycle jacket with coordinating trousers and sunglasses.

For glam, Rihanna wore her tresses in long, loose waves.

Rihanna Gives Birth, Welcomes 3rd Baby With ASAP Rocky

Rihanna revealed on September 24 that she gave birth to baby Rocki, her third child with the rapper, 11 days earlier on September 13. In an Instagram announcement, the “Diamonds” singer cradled the newborn, who was swaddled in a pastel pink blanket and wore a giant matching bow on her head.

Rocky responded to Rihanna’s post in the comments section, writing, “My lil ladies ❤️.”

Rihanna announced her pregnancy at the Met Gala in May, where she dressed her baby bump in a custom Ralph Lauren dress. Rihanna and Rocky are also parents of sons RZA, 3, and Riot Rose, 2.

Rihanna and Rocky did not find out their daughter’s sex before her arrival.

“I hope it’s a girl. I really do. We’re praying for a girl,” Rocky told Elle in a profile published early in September. “Our first time, we wanted to know the sex of the baby. The second time, we didn’t want to know. Third time, we don’t want to know until, you know.”

He added, “I feel like it’s going to be a girl. This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”

Rihanna and the “Fashion Killa” rapper have been together since 2019, often discussing a potential timeline for getting married.

“How you know I’m not already a husband?” he joked in the Elle profile, referring to the ongoing marriage speculation. “I’m still not gonna confirm it. … We don’t talk too much about work [at home] because we deal with that all day, every day. When you come home, it’s about family. It’s about your relationship. It’s about your household. It ain’t about all that other s***.”

A source previously told Us Weekly in 2023 that Rihanna and Rocky have “talked about getting married down the line.”

“[They] both think of each other as the one they’re going to spend the rest of their life with,” the source exclusively told Us.

Rihanna has also marveled about how their relationship has changed since welcoming RZA, Riot and now Rocki.

“It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever,” she told British Vogue in 2023 of becoming a mom. “You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before — but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because … it doesn’t matter.”
