The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, wants stronger regional collaboration among Northern states to drive sustainable development and attract large-scale investments across the region.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Bauchi Investment Summit 1.0, Comrade Gwarzo commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad and the people of Bauchi State for successfully hosting what he described as a groundbreaking event that showcased the region’s untapped economic potential.

Representing the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, he said the summit had set a new benchmark for strategic governance and innovative economic planning in Northern Nigeria.

He applauded the Bauchi State Government’s foresight in convening the summit, noting that its success reflected meticulous organization and a deep commitment to inclusive growth.

The Deputy Governor urged other Northern governors to replicate Bauchi’s model by organizing similar investment-driven initiatives capable of transforming the region’s economy through partnership and knowledge sharing.

According to him, ‘Northern Nigeria is not a region dependent on others, but one rich in human and material resources. I’m very happy to hear you emphasizing that we are nobody’s parasites. We have never been and will never be, Insha’Allah. The surest way out of our challenges is through the support of our leaders and the effective utilization of our God-given resources.’

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, in his closing remarks, described the summit as a transformative learning experience that broadened his understanding of governance, investment, and sustainable growth.

He noted that the deliberations and interactions had deepened his appreciation of the role of knowledge in governance, saying, ‘I am more educated than I was before. How I wish this investment sermon was convoked when I came into government. That is what knowledge can do.’

The governor further highlighted Bauchi’s vast tourism and natural resource potential beyond the popular Yankari Game Reserve, citing archaeological and historical sites that, if properly developed, could significantly boost the state’s economy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment conducive to investment and inclusive development.

A Statement by the Deputy Governor’s Press Secretary, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, indicated that the Bauchi Investment Summit 1.0, which was declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima, featured key sessions on multi-state economic opportunities, agriculture, solid minerals, and tourism.

The two-day event attracted prominent national and international investors, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as delegations from Tunisia, China, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.

It recorded the signing of 47 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and secured investment commitments worth over $5 billion, signaling a major step toward repositioning Bauchi as a hub for investment and sustainable growth.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has penned an emotional tribute to his son, as the younger man marks his 40th birthday today.

In a touching personal statement issued from the State House, President Tinubu praised his son’s character, accomplishments, and commitment to service.

Tinubu described Seyi as ‘a man of focus, courage, and humility’ who continues to walk the path of impact and leadership.

He wrote: ‘You have walked your path with focus, courage, and humility, and you have done so with a heart that seeks to build, serve, and uplift others.’

The President while recalling Seyi’s early ambition and entrepreneurial spirit, he commended his son’s transformation of ‘ideas into institutions’ and ‘challenges into opportunities’, citing his work in both business and service as evidence of a life built on substance and purpose.

‘True success is not measured by wealth or power but by the impact we make and the lives we touch,’ Tinubu said.

Describing 40 as a pivotal age, Tinubu extolled Seyi’s integrity, work ethic, and devotion to his own young family, including his wife Layal and their children.

He said, ‘Our entire family is proud of you.

‘You have carried your name with honour and have remained faithful to the values of discipline, integrity, and hard work.’

President Tinubu concluded his message with a prayer for continued wisdom, peace, and good health for Seyi, urging him to keep inspiring others and making Nigeria proud.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the leadership of Green Energy International Limited (GEIL) for its innovation in the Nigerian oil sector at the just commissioned crude oil export terminal in Otakikpo, Rivers State.

The crude export terminal which is the first by a Nigerian company, and the only one built in the country in over 50 years will open an efficient evacuation outlet for marginal and stranded fields across the Niger Delta region, unlocking billions of barrels of reserves and creating value for the economy, which is also a core focus of the President.

Commending the management of GEIL, the President assured the company and other operators that are keeping to the terms of their licenses of total support and collaboration.

He noted that the project represented a new and positive chapter in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and aligned directly with the core priorities of his administration to ramp up crude oil production by enabling a secure, transparent, and efficient evacuation system.

Speaking through the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the President added that he was particularly impressed at the company’s vision and implementation of the project, noting that GEIL has shown exemplary leadership and innovation among other indigenous firms who were awarded marginal field operating licenses about the same time.

On his part, the Chairman, GEIL, Prof. Anthony Adegbulugbe thanked the President for his unwavering support. He added that the terminal was conceived, designed and implemented wholly by Nigerians and was completed within a record time of 2 years.

According to him, the facility will ‘open the door to more than 40 stranded fields in the region with over 3 billion barrels of reserves, long held back the lack of export infrastructure. These fields alone could contribute more than 200,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s production’

Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur Ola of Lagos, has reacted to the demolition of his newly erected car showroom by the Lagos State Government.

Ola, on his Instagram, story maintained a positive attitude despite the financial loss, stating that he is working on building a new showroom.

‘New Showroom coming soon.Bigger and better insha Allah. We’re still active! We’ve been before our physical showroom and we’d always be.

Ola also expressed his appreciation to his fans and community for their support. He assured them that he is fine.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have finally arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, ahead of their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

The team flight touched down at the Victor Attah International Airport at exactly 8:05 a.m. on Sunday after an unexpected travel delay.

The delay followed a mid-air emergency on Saturday during the team’s flight from Polokwane, South Africa to Uyo.

The ValueJet aircraft, carrying the players, coaches and government officials had stopped in Luanda, Angola, to refuel.

The flight had resumed normally but was forced to return to Luanda just 25 minutes later after a loud crack was heard in the aircraft’s windshield, forcing the pilot to make a precautionary U-turn.

The development necessitated the disembarkation of all passengers upon the safe landing back in Luanda.

Officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that emergency protocols were followed, as the airline later arranged an alternative aircraft to complete the journey.

The Super Eagles, currently second in their group, are set to face Benin Republic in a decisive final qualifier.

Victory will guarantee their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The team will hold a light training session later today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

There are men who leave office and disappear into quiet retirement. And then there are those who leave office but really never leave power. They hover like Wi-Fi, like the very parasite that feasts on your left-over Sunday jollof rice – very invisible, but connected to every controversy.

Once hailed as the ‘architect of modern governance,’ our beloved former reformer now preaches morality from the mountain of self-righteousness. Ohhh, he speaks of integrity like an evangelist who misplaced his Bible somewhere between Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

These days, his followers call him ‘the conscience of the nation.’ Yet the nation remembers his demolition sites, his midnight evictions, his holy wars against ‘hypocrisy’, his relegation to a sect of persons with different faith, all carried out with swords and blessings.

He tweets like a prophet, quotes scriptures between subtle jabs, and calls out corruption as though he wasn’t on first-name terms with the system itself. It is laughable and a beautiful sermon, if you close your eyes and choose to forget who’s talking.

Nigeria has many orators, but only a few who can insult you with scripture and still collect applause. He’s one of them. The kind who can set the forest on fire and then deliver a TED Talk on reforestation.

And now, as the nation debates loyalty, betrayal and good governance, some men are quietly rewriting their own roles oo. But history is quite a stubborn creature, very unedited, doesn’t rate anyone, unarguebaly patient, but remembers all!

Because when a man spends years building a wall between himself and the people, he shouldn’t be surprised when applause sounds faint.

So as our moral architects return to the pulpit of public opinion, perhaps it’s time to ask:

Are they preaching redemption or just rehearsing relevance?

Mr Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meeting in Washington DC, which opens on Monday, October 13.

Cardoso, as the alternate Governor, replaces the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, who is indisposed.

The Nigerian team will also comprise the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete.

According to the World Bank, key elements of the Annual Meetings include the Development Committee Plenary session on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meetings on October 17.

Other featured events include regional briefings, press conferences, and fora focused on international development, the global economy, and financial markets.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, on his 40th birthday.

He described Seyi Tinubu, who turns 40 on Monday, as an industrious, dedicated and passionate young man who has become a role model to millions of youths in different parts of the country.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, said Seyi Tinubu has made positive impacts in many lives as a kind-hearted person.

He said: ‘On behalf of my family, the government and people of Lagos State, I extend my warmest congratulations to Seyi Tinubu, the son of our leader, President Bola Tinubu, on the occasion of his 40th birthday.

‘Seyi Tinubu’s 40th birthday marks not only a milestone in his personal journey but also a moment of deep reflection for what he stands for, the lives he has touched and the positive impacts he has made within and outside government.

‘He is a focused, courageous, disciplined and humble young man who has done a lot to build, serve, impact and uplift others, especially the younger generation, whom he has touched positively as a role model worthy of celebrating.

The Federal Government on Sunday night warned that it would enforce the no-work-no-pay policy against members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) if the union proceeds with its planned strike.

In a statement signed by Folasade Boriowo, spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Education, the government accused ASUU of failing to cooperate despite multiple efforts to prevent the strike action.

‘The Ministers further stressed that the government has continued to prioritise the welfare of university staff and the stability of the academic calendar under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,’ the statement read.

According to the ministry, dialogue remains the most effective and sustainable approach to resolving disputes, and the government remains open to engagement at all levels to prevent unnecessary disruption in the education sector.

However, the government emphasised that the no-work-no-pay policy remains an existing labour law in Nigeria and will be applied if academic activities are halted.

The statement added that while the government continues to demonstrate goodwill and flexibility, it will not neglect its responsibility to ensure fairness and accountability in the use of public funds.

The Federal Government reassured students, parents, and the general public of its commitment to maintaining industrial harmony in the tertiary education system.

The statement also appealed to all academic unions to embrace dialogue and partnership rather than confrontation, noting that the government’s education reform agenda aims to improve teaching and research conditions, strengthen university governance, and foster innovation and productivity within the academic community.

Meanwhile, ASUU on Sunday declared a total and comprehensive warning strike starting Monday, October 13.

The union’s demands include the conclusion of the renegotiated 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement, payment of withheld three and a half months’ salaries, sustainable and revitalised funding for public universities, and an end to the alleged victimisation of lecturers at Lagos State University (LASU), Prince Abubakar Audu University, and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

Other demands include payment of outstanding 25-35% salary arrears, settlement of promotion arrears spanning over four years, and release of withheld third-party deductions such as cooperative contributions and union check-off dues.

The marathon, which began on Saturday and ended around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, all under the watchful eyes of fans, celebrities, and Guinness officials.

She transformed faces of 145 models in total, each a stroke in her 24-hour beauty marathon.

The participants included influencers and celebrities such as Mitchy, Venita Akpofure, and content duo Wanni and Handi. They represented a mix of body types and skin tones.

Each transformation was carefully documented with professional photographs and short runway showcases as part of the Tacha Beauty Festival, which doubled as the stage for her record attempt.

The event was graced by Reality TV personalities, entertainers, and beauty enthusiasts. Among them were Alex Unusual, Toke Makinwa, Dabota Lawson, Soma Anyama, Slimcase, Ice Prince, Egungun of Lagos.
