The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, has said that God gave him a revelation to teach biblical success principles aimed at transforming lives and raising role models across the world.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on the people of Kagarko and Southern Kaduna to continue working with security agencies to maintain the peaceful coexistence for which the area is known.

Represented by his Personal Adviser, Musa Likita, the CDS made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting in Kagarko, where he urged residents not to allow selfish individuals to create divisions among them and their neighbours.

Musa also listed several ongoing projects in Southern Kaduna, including the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and the Defence Farm at Guarara Dam. He said such developments were signs of government support, which should be met with peace and cooperation.

In reaction to recent reports of unrest in the area, Mrs Charity Dangana, a community leader, expressed women’s concerns over incidents of night grazing by herdsmen. She said the women had visited the Traditional Ruler of Koro Chiefdom, Dr Yohannan Akoito, to raise the issue.

According to her, the royal father promised to reach out to the relevant agencies and the Local Government Chairman for prompt action.

However, Mrs Dangana said she was surprised to see reports on social media suggesting that the area was in crisis, a claim she dismissed.

‘We are peaceful people, and as the women’s leader, I want to say categorically that Kagarko Local Government Area is not in crisis, and we are dedicated to sustaining our peaceful coexistence,’ she said.

A youth leader from the Kabara District, John Musa, also denied that there was any crisis. ‘We visited the Royal Father to discuss certain unusual developments. Unfortunately, some individuals who do not wish for us to be at peace viewed this as an opportunity to spread false information,’ he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Fulani herdsmen, Ardo Usman Abdullahi apologised for the damage caused to some farmlands by herdsmen grazing at night. He explained that such actions were not common and assured that those involved would be held accountable.

The Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Council, Hon. Muhuyideen A. Umar, said peace and cooperation among farmers, herders, and residents remain strong. He credited this to Governor Uba Sani’s continued investment in dialogue, peacebuilding, and community security structures.

No fewer than ten people died, while eleven others sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Apamaru along Obajana-Lokoja highway on Saturday.

Tribune Online gathered that the accident involved a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number KTG 100YL, bearing 21 male passengers at the time of the incident.

The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a statement issued on Saturday said that a preliminary investigation by the FRSC crash team revealed the crash was caused by speed violation and wrongful overtaking by the driver, who lost control of the vehicle during a night journey.

He said: ‘Out of the 21 persons involved, 10 were killed on the spot, while 11 sustained varying degrees of injuries, including deep cuts, fractures, and bruises.

‘The injured victims were evacuated to Fisayo Hospital, Obajana, while the remains of the deceased were handed over to their families and taken to Sarikin Hausawa, Obajana, for burial in line with Islamic rites.’

Ogungbemide said the Corps Marshal of FRSC, expressed grief over the incident, warning that night travels, excessive speeding, and wrongful overtaking continue to be major causes of fatal road crashes in Nigeria.

‘He, therefore, called on commercial vehicle operators to adhere strictly to road safety regulations, emphasising that the Corps will intensify its enforcement on Overloading and advocacy to discourage Night Journey across critical corridors in Nigeria.

‘The Corps Marshal urged passengers to remain vigilant and proactive in cautioning or reporting drivers who exhibit reckless behaviour behind the wheel,’ Ogungbemide said.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has unveiled comprehensive new guidelines aimed at revamping the country’s declining Automated Teller Machine (ATM) operations.

The new framework, which seeks to improve efficiency, security, and user experience, comes amid widespread public complaints about frequent cash shortages, malfunctioning terminals, and rising transaction failures.

In a circular signed dated October 9,2025 and by the Director, Payment System Policy Department, Musa I. Jimoh, the apex bank noted that the guidelines are designed to restore public confidence in the ATM network, which remains a critical component of Nigeria’s cashless economy.

The CBN also called on stakeholders, including banks, card issuers, and payment processors, to review and provide feedback on the draft document before final adoption.

Under the new rules, all ATM deployers must establish effective monitoring mechanisms to track and identify the causes of transaction failures. Institutions operating ATMs are required to render monthly returns, including details of new deployments, locations, and addresses, to the CBN’s Payment System Supervision Department by the 5th of every month.

The guidelines set out stringent technology and operational standards. All ATM systems must comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and include audit trail capabilities to facilitate investigations and dispute resolution.

At least two percent of ATMs deployed by each acquirer must be fitted with tactile symbols for visually impaired customers, and their locations must be published online.

To promote inclusivity and ensure domestic control, the CBN emphasized that all ATM transactions must be processed and settled within Nigeria, with all collaterals denominated in naira. The apex bank also prohibited stand-alone or closed ATM networks and mandated that ATMs be sited in safe, well-lit locations accessible to the public.

The CBN further directed that ATM downtime must not exceed 72 consecutive hours, with operators required to display functional helpdesk contacts and ensure prompt customer communication. Cash availability must be guaranteed at all times, with ATMs stocked only with fit notes.

On security, the bank mandated that all ATMs be fitted with cameras covering all user activities, excluding keystrokes, and installed with anti-skimming devices to prevent fraud. Regular maintenance, insurance coverage, and annual key changes are also required.

In a move to protect consumers, the CBN ordered instant reversals for failed ‘on-us’ transactions and a 48-hour limit for ‘not-on-us’ refunds. The apex bank also pledged to conduct periodic audits and on-site inspections to ensure compliance.

Financial analysts say the CBN’s intervention could restore reliability to Nigeria’s ATM network, which has suffered years of decline due to poor maintenance, security lapses, and infrastructural challenges. If fully enforced, the new rules are expected to enhance customer confidence and strengthen Nigeria’s electronic payment ecosystem.

President Bola Tinubu will travel to Rome on Sunday, October 12, to attend the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government Level Meeting, according to the State House.

The agenda is primarily on the security crisis in West Africa.

A statement on Saturday night by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, explained that the meeting would bring together Heads of State and Government, senior intelligence and military officials from African countries, and representatives of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations to discuss the evolving security challenges in the West African sub-region.

‘The Aqaba Process Meeting is a counter-terrorism initiative launched by King Abdullah II of Jordan in 2015. It is co-chaired by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Italian Government.

‘It recognises the complex security challenges confronting West Africa, including the expansion of terrorist networks, the growing crime-terror nexus and the increasing overlap between land-based terrorism in the Sahel and the maritime piracy in the Gulf of Guinea,’ the State House said.

It added that participants would exchange assessments of the current security landscape in West Africa and foster collaboration between regional and international partners to address cross-border security challenges, in addition to developing strategies to counter the terror threat on land and the sea.

The statement read further, ‘The meeting will discuss ideas on how to coordinate efforts to combat online radicalisation and disrupt digital networks that facilitate terrorist propaganda and recruitment.

‘In addition to attending the plenary sessions of the Aqaba meeting, President Tinubu will hold bilateral talks with other leaders to explore ways of addressing the rising security challenges across the subregion.

‘The President will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, and other senior government officials.’

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee on the mismanagement of the oil spill clean up funds in the Niger Delta region on Friday commenced it’s assignment with an assurance to finding a lasting solution to the problem

Speaking at the inauguration of the Committee in Abuja, its Chairman Hon. Okpolupm Etteh declared that ‘ the region can no.longer endure another decade of unfulfilled promises.

He said, ‘The Niger Delta cannot endure another decade of unfulfilled promises. It is high time we transformed words into action.

‘The Niger Delta has faced years of environmental degradation and untold damage due to oil exploration and frequent spills. We, therefore, seek the cooperation of all stakeholder, government agencies, communities, civil society, and the media to help us effectively achieve our mandate.

‘This House has also received reports that Funds allocated for clean-up efforts have not produced the anticipated outcomes, leaving communities still affected, livelihoods in jeopardy, and public trust diminished.’

The lawmaker disclosed that the establishment of the committee underscored their shared commitment to ensuring accountability, transparency, and environmental justice for the people of the Niger Delta.

He assured that they will be firm and thorough in their discharging their responsibilities.

‘Our committee has been assigned the critical task of uncovering the truth, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and proposing reforms for sustainable solutions.

‘Our objectives are clear: We will investigate the utilisation of funds designated for environmental remediation, review the actual execution of clean-up projects, identify deficiencies in the institutional framework, and engage with all relevant stakeholders, including host communities, experts, and civil society.

We will operate transparently, seek broad consultations, and conduct field visits to witness the situation firsthand. Agencies will be held accountable, community perspectives will be valued, and our conclusions will be based on factual evidence rather than emotions,’ he assured.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state, Prince Paul Ikonne, has called on Governor of Abia, Alex Otti, to desist from chasing political clout with the name of the leader of the outlawed group, the Independent People of Biafra ( IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Prince Ikonne said the governor’s recent public remarks on the issue of Nnamdi Kanu were nothing but a desperate attempt to gain attention.

Addressing a large gathering of Ukwa la Ngwa youths who paid him a courtesy visit at the weekend, Prince Ikonne expressed deep concern that Governor Otti appeared to have continued to use sensitive national issues to distract Abians from his growing record of underperformance.

In a statement released Saturday in Abuja, by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Ujo Justice Ikonne, said: ‘It is unfortunate that Governor Otti has chosen to play politics with the emotions of the people by dragging the name of Nnamdi Kanu into his failing government narrative.’

Prince Ikonne described Governor Otti’s administration as ‘a government of repainting, rebranding of some old structures while claiming new achievements.’

He emphasised that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will regain his freedom without Alex Otti’s political grandstanding and urged the governor to stop exploiting the issue for personal and political advantage.

‘Let me thank my friend and brother Hon. Obi Aguoch and Hon. Ichita for their efforts towards the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi which I believe will bring good results very soon.’

Prince Ikonne further encouraged Abia youths to remain vigilant, courageous, and firm in demanding accountability from their leaders, noting that no amount of propaganda can substitute for genuine performance.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring consistent financial support to state governments and for creating national frameworks aimed at stabilizing the economy. Ikonne expressed disappointment that while such resources are available, the Abia State Government has failed to translate them into real developmental results.

‘Leadership is about impact, not impression. Abians deserve real projects, and visible progress – not endless excuses, photo-ops, and political drama.’

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has cautioned applicants participating in its 2025 recruitment exercise to disregard social media posts claiming to reveal the number of shortlisted candidates per state for the final stage of recruitment, describing the information as false and unverified.

The Service reaffirmed that its recruitment process remains transparent, merit-driven, and aligned with global best practices.

In a statement shared on X on Saturday, titled ‘Unverified Social Media Post on 2025 Nigeria Customs Service Recruitment Exercise,’ the NCS clarified that the viral publication did not originate from the Service or any of its authorised communication channels.

‘The Service wishes to categorically state that the publication did not originate from the Nigeria Customs Service or any of its authorised communication channels,’ the statement read. It urged members of the public, particularly applicants, ‘to disregard the information in its entirety.’

Reiterating its commitment to a credible and fair process, the NCS stated, ‘The Nigeria Customs Service remains firmly committed to a selection process consistent with global best practices and in line with the principle of Federal Character.’

The Service noted that all official updates are communicated directly to shortlisted applicants through the Recruitment Update Portal at https://updates.customs.gov.ng.

It also reminded the public that the official recruitment exercise, which commenced on December 27, 2024, received 573,523 applications across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. Following documentary screening, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted for the first phase of the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which was conducted in batches ‘to ensure fairness and system efficiency.’
