Genesis GV60 Magma targets Mercedes-AMG and BMW M

Genesis has unveiled the GV60 Magma, the brand’s first high-performance model, positioning it to compete directly with long-established rivals such as Mercedes-AMG and BMW M, Azernews reports, citing Korean media.

Production is scheduled to begin later this year in Ulsan, South Korea, with a domestic launch planned for January. The GV60 Magma will then expand to European markets, starting with Germany, the UK, and Switzerland in the second quarter, followed by France, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The highly anticipated Magma variant is based on the same architecture as the standard GV60-Genesis’s first dedicated electric vehicle built on the E-GMP platform, shared with Hyundai Motor Group siblings like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. This platform allows for fast charging, long range, and impressive performance capabilities.

Visually, the GV60 Magma emphasizes its sporty character with a lowered stance on 21-inch wheels, flared vented arches, and a striking rear diffuser complemented by Genesis’s signature rear wing. Inside, the cabin is expected to blend luxury materials with advanced tech features, including a driver-focused digital display and customizable performance settings.

Genesis aims to position the Magma not just as a performance EV, but as a statement of the brand’s evolving identity-blending cutting-edge electric technology with the excitement and prestige traditionally associated with high-performance German cars. Analysts suggest that this model could redefine perceptions of electric performance vehicles, especially in markets where German rivals have long dominated.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a pharmaceutical production facility owned by Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd in the Hokmali settlement of the Absheron district, Azernews reports.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Director General Kamran Hasanov briefed the head of state on the facility.

Designed in accordance with international standards, the facility is equipped with advanced technologies and equipment from Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. The enterprise will annually produce approximately 800 million tablets and capsules across various therapeutic areas, including antibiotics, diabetology, hepatology, cardiology, andrology, allergology, and gastroenterology. The products will supply the domestic market and are planned for export in the future. A total of 120 jobs have been created at the facility.

The 74-million-manat project was implemented through private investment. With the investment promotion document issued by the Ministry of Economy, the company received 6.5 million manats in concessions for imported equipment.

The launch of the facility marks a new stage in the development of Azerbaijan’s pharmaceutical industry. All stages of medicine production – from raw materials to finished products – will be carried out locally. The new enterprise will contribute to strengthening the pharmaceutical sector, supporting local production, and increasing Azerbaijan’s export potential by manufacturing competitive products that meet domestic and international standards.

The facility will also serve as a training base for professional personnel in the pharmaceutical field. Under the quadrilateral Memorandum signed between Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Azerbaijan Medical University, Hungary’s University of Pécs, and the Pannon Pharma company, short- and long-term training and internship programs for pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical specialties will be implemented.

President Ilham Aliyev launched the facility.

A total of 710 solar panels with a combined capacity of 450 kW/h have been installed on the roof of the facility, enabling it to meet approximately 40 percent of its energy consumption through renewable sources.

By Alimat Aliyeva

Uber announced on Thursday that it will partner with Starship
Technologies to introduce autonomous robot deliveries in the UK
starting in December, with plans to expand to additional European
markets next year and the United States in 2027,
Azernews reports, citing foreign media.

Initially, Uber Eats customers in the Leeds and Sheffield areas
will be able to receive deliveries from Starship’s robots, the
company said.

This partnership is the latest in a series of collaborations
Uber has established with autonomous vehicle and robotics companies
as it increasingly focuses on automating its services to drive
growth and efficiency. In the United States, Uber already works
with Avride and Serve Robotics to provide robotic food
deliveries.

Starship, based in San Francisco, will deploy robots operating
at Level 4 autonomy, meaning they can navigate and complete
deliveries within a designated area without human intervention. The
robots are equipped with advanced sensors, cameras, and AI systems
to safely avoid obstacles, interact with pedestrians, and ensure
timely deliveries.

Experts suggest that this move could significantly reduce
delivery costs, speed up service in congested urban areas, and
provide a glimpse of the future of “last-mile” logistics.
Interestingly, some of Starship’s robots are designed to carry
multiple orders simultaneously, and users can track the robots in
real time via the Uber Eats app, making the experience interactive
and futuristic.

With the rise of autonomous technology, partnerships like Uber
and Starship’s signal a shift in the delivery industry, where smart
robotics and AI could become as commonplace as traditional couriers
within a few years.
