Gisela And I Can Never Depart – Ama Burland

Ghanaian Influencer, Princess Ama Burland, has pledged to uphold the ‘sisterhood friendship’ she enjoys with colleague influencer Gisela Amponsah.

Speaking on the ‘Bants and Rants’ podcast show on KSS studio, on the topic, ‘Wedding Vs Graduation: What Would You Do? Between your partner and friend,’ Ama Burland opined that considering the bond she has shared with Gisela over the years, she will ditch her partner’s graduation for her best friend’s wedding.

‘My friendship with Gisela is what is public in the media. I will not go to any boy’s graduation over her wedding because that boy has family. He has a lot of people, I will probably buy him a graduation gift and congratulate him, but will not leave Gisela’s wedding for him,’ she disclosed.

When asked about Gisela’s family, she responded, ‘Gisela’s family is not there like how I am there for her. We started this thing together, that is my sister. I cannot be absent. I am even the one to facilitate her operations. Gisela and I can never depart,’ she stressed.

Gisela Amponsah and Ama Burland have an unbreakable best friend relationship built around content creation, business, and supporting each other publicly.

They have built thriving influencer marketing careers and talk openly about how it changed their finances. They worked together on several projects – Rants, Bants and Confessions (RBC). After leaving RBC, they launched their own podcast together and were seen teasing it with a sleek studio setup.

Former England Forward Kevin Keegan Dies Aged 75

Former England forward and manager Kevin Keegan has died at the age of 75.

It was announced in January that the former England player and manager had been diagnosed with stage four cancer, with his family revealing he was set to begin treatment.

‘It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75,’ a statement from Keegan’s family read.

‘The former England player and manager had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.

‘Kevin, a double Ballon d’Or winner, was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support. This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.’

England have announced that they will pay tribute to Keegan’s life before their Nations League game with Spain at Wembley in September.

Keegan was considered one of the best players of his generation and enjoyed a stellar playing career, making almost 750 club appearances, lifting the First Division trophy three times with Liverpool and winning the Ballon d’Or back-to-back in 1978 and 1979 while playing for Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

Seven years after his retirement, he took his first coaching role as manager of a struggling Newcastle team in February 1992.

The Magpies were in danger of being relegated to Division Two but Keegan kept them up and then led them to the Premier League in his first full season in charge. Then, in 1996, he took Newcastle to within touching distance of their first top-tier title since 1927.

The Accra Regional Police Command, working with the National Police Intelligence Directorate, has arrested five suspected members of an armed robbery and landguard group in Sapeiman Faase.

The intelligence-led operation on Thursday, July 17, 2026, led to the arrest of Torbui Agah Semaglo, 50, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.

A search of their premises uncovered a cache of weapons including one pump-action gun, one Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, one dummy Austria pistol, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round, 12 BB cartridges, two kitchen knives, one jackknife, one face mask, and one talisman.

All items have been retained as evidence.

Police say preliminary investigations show the suspects are part of a criminal network terrorizing residents of Sapeiman and nearby communities through armed robbery and landguard activities.

The recovered weapons are alleged to have been used in those attacks. The five are in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities say efforts are underway to trace links to other robbery cases and arrest more accomplices.

In a statement signed by Chief Superintendent, Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, the Command thanked the public for credible information that led to the arrests.

Accra Shooting Stars Crowned 2026 Gothia Cup B18 Champions

Ghana’s Accra Shooting Stars FC claimed the 2026 Gothia Cup B18 title after defeating Ireland’s Newbridge Town FC 2-1 in an exciting final at Gamla Ullevi.

The Ghanaian side controlled much of the contest from the outset and created several promising opportunities before taking the lead in the 18th minute.

Newbridge goalkeeper Cian Rushe initially kept out Karim Mohammed’s long-range strike, but Daniel Opoku reacted quickest to the rebound to fire Accra Shooting Stars ahead.

Newbridge Town drew level shortly after the restart when Josh Hamilton converted from the penalty spot. However, the Ghanaian outfit responded positively, maintaining control of possession and creating the better chances.

Their persistence paid off as Opoku completed his brace with a well-taken finish following a slick team move, restoring Accra Shooting Stars’ advantage. The Ghanaian champions then produced a disciplined defensive display to withstand late pressure from the Irish side and secure a memorable victory.

Opoku’s outstanding performance earned him the Final MVP award. Speaking after the match, the forward attributed the triumph to the team’s dedication, discipline and belief.

‘I planned it and God made it happen. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I also want to thank our supporters. We were compact, organised and calm on the ball. We applied everything we learnt in training, and we deserved to win,’ he said.

The triumph is another significant achievement for Ghanaian youth football, highlighting the country’s emerging talent and reinforcing its reputation for producing quality young players capable of competing successfully on the international stage.

Chelsea Agree Club- Record £117m Deal To Sign Morgan Rogers

Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign England international Morgan Rogers in a club-record transfer worth £117 million, with the deal now entering its final stages.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to sign a six-year contract until 2032, with the option of an additional year. Personal terms have already been agreed, while a medical has been scheduled for Monday.

Rogers is understood to have chosen Chelsea ahead of Arsenal, with the opportunity to work under new manager Xabi Alonso and the club’s long-term project playing a key role in his decision.

Once completed, the transfer will become Chelsea’s most expensive signing, surpassing the £106 million paid to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in 2023. It will also set a new British transfer record, eclipsing the £116 million Manchester City agreed to pay Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

The England international joined Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024 for an initial £7 million, with a further £8 million in performance-related add-ons. Middlesbrough are also set to benefit from a 20 per cent sell-on clause included in the deal.

Rogers has developed into one of the Premier League’s standout attacking midfielders, registering 31 goals and 29 assists in 125 appearances for Villa.

During the 2025-26 season, he contributed 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 matches, helping Villa secure UEFA Champions League qualification and win the UEFA Europa League.

The former Manchester City academy graduate earned his first England senior call-up in November 2024 and featured prominently during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including providing the assist for Anthony Gordon’s goal in England’s semi-final defeat to Argentina. He remains with the England squad for the third-place playoff against France.

Group Backs NPP Gen. Sec. Re-election Bid

Coalition of Elected Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Greater Accra Region, have declared their support for the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, for his second term bid to be re-elected, citing major reforms undertaken by the party under his leadership.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Spokesperson for the group, Emmanuel Kwabena Opoku Adjei, said the General Secretary upon assumption of office had initiated plans for continuous organisational assessment, nationwide training of party officers and targeted interventions in weak constituencies.

He said under his leadership, the party has provided constituency project database, initiated structured campaign planning, continuous monitoring of government performance as well as executed evidence-based political strategy.

Mr. Opoku Adjei, who is also the Secretary for the Ablekuma Central Constituency, said calls by some group of people for the General Secretary to resign does not reflect the views of newly elected leaders in the various constituencies.

He said Mr. Kodua Frimpong recently completed the party’s constituency executive elections, which involved more than 100,000 delegates and candidates across 276 constituencies, steering the affairs of the party through constitutional reforms, presidential and parliamentary primaries among others.

This, he explained is one of the largest internal electoral exercises undertaken by the party and was successfully coordinated by the National Secretariat under the leadership of the General Secretary.

According to him, despite the financial challenges facing the NPP as an opposition party, the National Secretariat ensured that security personnel, electoral officials and logistical arrangements were adequately catered for, even though delegates did not receive transportation, feeding or travel allowances.

The group further argued that replacing the General Secretary at this stage would interrupt ongoing reforms and delay preparations for the 2028 general election and, therefore, appealed to delegates of the party to cast their votes at the upcoming National Annual Delegates Conference in Kumasi, on September 19, based on Mr. Kodua Frimpong’s track record of reforms within the party.

‘As a coalition, we unanimously endorse Mr. Kodua’s re-election bid and urge delegates in all the 16 regions across the country to support a vision of continuity, stability and victory for the NPP in 2028,’ he added.

’Disregard Misinformation Against Adamus Resources’

Two groups, ‘The Youth Movement of Salman’ and ‘Citizens Advocate Group’ have called on the public to disregard what they describe as false information being peddled against Adamus Mining Company.

Describing the said information as false and misleading, they attributed it to ‘hired illegal miners.’

In a statement, the two groups disclosed that the information about Adamus Mining Company’s operations in the Salman area of the Western Region ‘are baseless, malicious and intended to mislead the public, create unnecessary tension, and undermine the company’s lawful operations and its relationship with the host communities.’

Adamus Mining Company, the statement went on, ‘operates under the laws of Ghana and continues to engage stakeholders through appropriate community consultation and development initiatives. The company remains committed to responsible mining, environmental stewardship, and peaceful co-existence with all communities.

‘We, therefore, urge the traditional authorities, the general public, community members and the media to disregard any false claims and rather rely only on verified information from official sources.’

In the light of the foregone, the company has called on the relevant state security agencies to investigate those deliberately spreading misinformation and promoting illegal mining activities since such practices threaten the peace, public safety, and the rule of law.

Adamus reaffirmed its commitment to truth, transparency, and constructive engagement with all stakeholders in the interest of sustainable development of the Salman area.

TOR Receives 1m Barrels Of Local Crude

The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has received one million barrels of Ghana’s indigenous Jubilee Sweet Crude, delivered aboard MT Apache on July 15, 2026.

The information was contained in a statement from the refinery.

This is the second consignment of one million barrels of Ghanaian indigenous crude supplied to TOR under President John Mahama’s administration following the historic first delivery in December 2016 aboard MT Bodeira during his first term in office.

With this latest delivery, TOR has now received its third one-million-barrel crude cargo since May 2026-namely Bonga, Baleine, and now Jubilee Medium Sweet Crude. These supplies have enabled the refinery to continue producing petroleum products for both the domestic and regional markets, advancing Ghana’s energy security while promoting industrialisation and value addition.
