Leaving Fuse ODG’s Label Was Mutual – Itz Tiffany

Afropop artiste, Itz Tiffany, has said her departure from Off Da Ground Records was a mutual decision and not the result of any disagreement with Fuse ODG.

Speaking in an interview, the singer explained that both sides agreed it was time to move on after working together for two years.

According to her, she decided to step back while the label also wanted to pursue a new direction.

‘We did good songs together, and at a point in time, I felt that I wanted to back down, and they also felt that they wanted to move ahead, so I stepped down quietly. There’s no bad blood or anything,’ she said.

Tiffany also dismissed rumours of a fallout with the UK-based musician and record label executive, insisting they have always maintained a cordial relationship.

She revealed that the last time they met was at an airport, where they exchanged pleasantries without any issues.

‘I think the last time I saw him, I saw him at the airport, and we were cool. There’s no problem at all. Fuse and I never had a problem,’ she said.

Fuse ODG signed Itz Tiffany to Off Da Ground Records in 2014, and the pair collaborated on songs including Azonto and Spanner before she left the label in 2016.

After spending several years away from the music scene, Tiffany has returned with new singles, Wura and Money.

LPG Urges Govt To House Flood Victims At Saglemi

The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has urged the government to immediately relocate victims of the recent floods to completed and habitable units at the Saglemi Housing Project, arguing that the facility should not remain idle while thousands of displaced Ghanaians struggle for shelter.

According to the party, many flood victims are currently sleeping in schools, churches and overcrowded temporary shelters, even though the taxpayer-funded Saglemi Housing Project has completed housing units that can provide immediate relief.

The call was contained in a press statement issued on July 6, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Jerry Owusu Appauh.

The statement expressed deep concern over the devastating floods, which it said have displaced thousands of people, destroyed homes and businesses, and left many families in distress.

‘It is both painful and unacceptable that while innocent citizens sleep in schools, churches and overcrowded temporary shelters, the Saglemi Housing Project-built with taxpayers’ money-continues to sit largely unused,’ the statement said.

The LPG urged the government to urgently inspect all completed and habitable units at the housing project and relocate families who have lost their homes to the facility without delay.

It maintained that leaving completed public housing unoccupied while citizens continue to suffer is difficult to justify.

The party further charged the government to move beyond expressions of sympathy and implement practical measures that would restore dignity to affected families.

Beyond the immediate humanitarian crisis, the LPG blamed Ghana’s perennial flooding on years of poor planning, weak enforcement of building regulations and inadequate investment in drainage infrastructure.

It stressed that the country cannot continue to witness annual flood disasters followed by temporary relief interventions and political excuses.

The party also called on President John Dramani Mahama and the relevant ministries to act swiftly, warning that every day of delay worsens the suffering of vulnerable citizens.

The statement concluded that good governance is measured by the ability to protect lives, safeguard public resources and respond effectively to emergencies, urging the government to act with urgency, accountability and compassion in addressing the plight of flood victims.

Otumfuo Hosts Yagbonwura In Manhyia

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, hosted Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, in the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi last Wednesday.

Significantly, the visit of the Yagbonwura coincided with Awukudae, one of the sacred festivals in Asanteman, so he was welcomed with a mammoth durbar of chiefs and people of Asanteman.

Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, in a speech read on his behalf, called for strengthening of the relationship between Asante and Gonja Kingdoms, especially in the area of land disputes.

‘It is my humble appeal that our two kingdoms work closely and share experiences in promoting peaceful mechanisms for resolving land disputes,’ the visiting monarch remarked to the gathering.

According to him, it’s his firm belief that sharing knowledge and experiences between Asanteman and Gonja Kingdom would lead to effective and efficient land administration, paving way for growth.

‘Let us strengthen cooperation between our two kingdoms so that together we can become stronger advocates for peace and stability in the country,’ he said, adding that the two kingdoms have more to do.

Tracing history, the Yagbonwura stated that Asante Kingdom and Gonja Kingdom, despite their different geographical locations, have successfully worked closely together for so many years for their mutual benefit.

‘Although our two kingdoms are geographically separated, they have long been united by history and destiny. For centuries, trans-Saharan trade connected Salaga, Kintampo, Techiman, and Kumasi as major trade routes before the arrival of Europeans.

‘These routes served not only as corridors of commerce but also as pathways of friendship, diplomacy, and cultural exchange,’ he recalled with pride, attracting applause from the crowd.

The Yagbonwura also added that ‘Gonja merchants supplied livestock, shea butter, leather, textiles, and other products, while Asante traders brought gold, kola nuts, and manufactured goods.’

According to him, ‘Beyond commerce, our relationship was deepened through faith and scholarship,’ stressing that it’s high time that Asanteman and Gonja Kingdom collaborated effectively once again.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, the Asante Mamponghene, speaking on behalf of his overlord, the Asantehene, informed Yagbonwura that ‘You have left Asanteman deeply moved by your large entourage today.’

He also recounted that Asante Kingdom and Gonja Kingdom have been brothers since time immemorial, indicating that the Asantehene would also reciprocate the gesture by visiting the Yagbonwura.

BoG Injects $2.01bn Into Forex Market In June

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) injected $2.01 billion into the foreign exchange market in June 2026 to meet rising demand and support the stability of the cedi.

According to a report, the central bank sold $1.2 billion through its Forex Intermediation Programme, with auctions conducted twice a week throughout June in line with the bank’s monthly auction target.

However, commercial banks submitted bids totalling $3.42 billion, which reflects strong demand for foreign exchange as the appetite for US dollars remained exceptionally high during the month.

The June Forex Intermediation Programme was executed under the Domestic Gold Exchange Programme and also formed part of the central ank’s broader Foreign Exchange (FX) Operations Framework, which supports its reserve accumulation strategy.

Reports indicate that the aggressive market intervention helped the cedi post a 3.30% appreciation against the US dollar in June 2026, marking the local currency’s first monthly gain this year.

The appreciation has been widely attributed to the central bank’s increased intervention in the foreign exchange market.

Market analysts believe the cedi’s improved performance suggests that the sustained pressure on the local currency during the first quarter of the year may be easing as demand for US dollars begins to moderate.

Analysts have also stated that most businesses have already completed their major restocking for the year, while new Bank of Ghana measures aimed at moderating demand for US dollars are beginning to take effect.

They further expect lower global crude oil prices to reduce foreign exchange demand from players in the energy sector, providing additional support for the local currency.

The Bank of Ghana has assured commercial banks that it remains committed to transparency and will continue to disclose relevant information on its foreign exchange market operations, including activities under the Forex Intermediation Programme.

JHS Student Slashed With Machete For Fondling Senior’s Breast

A Junior High School (JHS) 1 male student of the Assin Krofofrodo District Assembly Basic School in the Central Region has suffered severe machete wounds after allegedly fondling his female senior’s breast.

According to accounts from the school, the incident occurred during a campus clean-up exercise. School authorities had instructed students to weed the overgrown compound using machetes.

The JHS 1 student, who is currently receiving treatment at the district clinic, is reported to have touched his senior’s breast repeatedly during the campus clean-up exercise after being warned not to do so.

The 15-year-old JHS 2 female student said she had repeatedly warned the JHS 1 student against touching her breast. She alleged that he defied the warning and did it again during the exercise. Irritated by what she described as disrespect, she picked up a machete and slashed the boy on his inner wrist.

Parents of the injured victim have accused the school authorities over negligence to attend to their ward after the injury.

Speaking for the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, accused the school of negligence after the attack. ‘He said a female colleague inflicted a machete wound on him while they were playing. He said he wrapped his arm around her neck and mistakenly touched her breast,’ Ms. Enyan disclosed.

‘The teachers didn’t pay much attention to him after the injury. He nearly passed out. His shirt was completely drenched with blood,’ she added.

The family is calling on the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation into both the attack and the school’s response.

As of press time, the school authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident.

Come On… Stop The Crap

It is a fact that the floods which hit Accra were avoidable even as government spin doctors tried hard to make it look like a force majeure, destined to happen.

We have also witnessed attempts at making it look like being an act of nature, as it also affected Cote d’Ivoire. Such infantile spins should not be attempted under the circumstances because it only adds to the pain being endured by the many traumatised victims.

Even more irritating are the efforts at telling Ghanaians that this is not a subject to be politicised. At the time then opposition leader John Mahama politicised it in 2024, did he not realise the importance of depolicitising certain subjects such as flooding?

When a subject such as the construction of infrastructure or even cracking the whip when that is the best option when impunity prevails, there is no way this subject can be depoliticised because the negligence or misplaced priority originates from the political leadership headed by the President. Herein lies the politics of the subject.

When a government abandons the principle of continuum leaving in its wake stalled projects such as the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project, the most audacious engineering response yet to the nagging perennial flooding in Accra, politicisation cannot be ruled out in a conversation.

One of our respectable academics is reported to have taken a swipe at the successive governments in the country since independence. According to him, they have all failed the citizens while taking a look at the recent flooding.

While we respect his stance, we wish to state that there is a massive difference between the two dominant political parties in the country when it comes to development.

While the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is credited with the World Bank’s certification of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy as the most outstanding government social intervention in post-independence Ghana, we cannot point at a single recognition for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the past decade.

The digitised space now operative in Ghana coupled with the mobile money interoperability for financial transactions among other projects stands out the NPP government in a rule of the tape consideration.

It is instructive that the NDC government has decided not to proceed with the GARID as it did others initiated by the NPP government, the most outstanding being the Agenda 111 project which saw the construction of multitude of hospitals across the country. The expected health revolution has been stalled by the NDC’s refusal to proceed with the project. The project was intended to lead to a massive reduction of the pressure on referral and other regional facilities in the country.

The foregone are but a few worth touching observations for the purpose of the occasional conversation as to whether or not the two dominant political parties are same in terms of delivery of lasting service to the people of this country.

The World Bank report about over $200 million not disbursed for the purpose of addressing the flooding in Accra speaks volumes about the recklessness of the incumbent government.

The aforementioned amount is part of the World Bank accessed funds for the actualisation of the GARID project initiated under the NPP administration.

’Mahama Cares’ Seeks Chiefs’ Support

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), popularly known as Mahama Cares, has appealed to the National House of Chiefs to support government’s efforts to expand access to specialised healthcare for Ghanaians suffering from chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The appeal was made during a courtesy call on the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, and members of the House by the Board and Management of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

Leading the delegation, Board Chairperson, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, said traditional leaders remain indispensable partners in ensuring that the benefits of the Trust Fund reach every community across the country.

The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Health led by Dr. Hafiz Adams, as well as the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, who represented Ghana’s 16 Regional Ministers at the engagement.

Addressing the chiefs, Ms. Darko-Opoku said the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, including kidney failure, cancer, stroke, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and sickle cell disease, continues to impose severe financial hardship on many Ghanaian families.

She explained that President John Dramani Mahama established the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to ensure that no Ghanaian is denied access to life-saving specialised healthcare because of financial constraints.

According to her, the Fund is built on four strategic pillars: providing financial support for patients, investing in critical medical equipment and healthcare infrastructure, training specialist healthcare professionals, and supporting medical research.

She disclosed that following the passage of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Act, 2025 (Act 1144), the Fund has established its Secretariat and Board, undertaken nationwide needs assessments in major hospitals, and deployed a digital platform to process patient applications and claims efficiently.

She added that the Trust Fund is facilitating the establishment of three modern cardiac catheterisation laboratories (Cath Labs) at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Tamale Teaching Hospital to improve specialised cardiac care.

Ms. Darko-Opoku stressed that government alone cannot achieve the objectives of the initiative and appealed to chiefs to help educate their communities about the Fund, encourage early health-seeking behaviour and support nationwide public awareness campaigns.

Representing the Minister for Health, Dr. Hafiz Adams said the ministry recognises the critical role traditional authorities play in national development and healthcare delivery.

He explained that government’s healthcare financing strategy is based on three key interventions-Free Primary Healthcare, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, which focuses on financing specialised treatments that remain beyond the reach of many Ghanaian families.

He urged chiefs to use their influence to promote awareness of the Fund, encourage early diagnosis and ensure that vulnerable persons benefit from the intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the country’s 16 Regional Ministers, Dr. Frank Amoakohene reaffirmed the commitment of regional ministers to supporting the decentralisation of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund through the local government system.

He noted that non-communicable diseases account for about 75 percent of deaths globally and approximately 45 percent of deaths recorded in hospitals in Ghana, making sustainable healthcare financing a national priority.

Drawing from his experience as a medical practitioner, Dr. Amoakohene said he had witnessed many families sell properties and other valuable assets to finance dialysis and other life-saving treatments.

He said the Trust Fund was established to bridge that gap by supporting patients suffering from illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension and neurological disorders that are not adequately covered under the NHIS.
