Welcome to Opeyemi Ayanwale, the 23-year-old, Lagos-born, Ebute-Meta-bred BBNaija Season 10 housemate, better known as Imisi. If her performance, vibes, and content-whether acted or real, staged or spontaneous-are anything to go by, she is undoubtedly the winner of this year’s BBNaija Season 10 reality show.

At the end of the day, when all the chips are down, when the dust has settled, and all eyes are clear, she will cart away the $150,000 star prize.

Still, the question on everyone’s lips is: Who is this Imisi who, as she rightly told a fellow housemate, is a ‘nemesis’? Who is this Yoruba girl from Ebute-Meta who often finds it difficult to express herself in English and prefers speaking her mother tongue, Yoruba-a trait that earned her Biggie’s big stick and a temporary punishment of silence? Who is this girl that many find hard to figure out?

The truth is, Imisi stole the hearts of her fans and arguably won the reality show the very first day she stepped into Biggie’s house. That singular act of removing her wig as she entered the house got everyone’s attention. ‘This is a star to watch,’ they all seemed to be saying.

Throughout the 10 weeks she spent in the house, she never disappointed. She consistently delivered content to her numerous fans across the African continent.

This year’s competition is undeniably stiff, with equally talented housemates like Faith (who has since been disqualified), Koyin, Jason Jae, Sultana, and Dede, to mention a few. But the truth remains: Imisi stands head and shoulders above them all.

No matter how hard her competitors’ fans try to stop her from clinching the prize, it will amount to nothing. Imisi’s weapon of mass destruction-her intercontinental ballistic charisma-knows no borders. Her appeal cuts across the entire African continent.

There’s something uncanny about her-something that makes her fans burst into laughter whenever she speaks, acts, or makes facial expressions. These are the traits that endear her to them. And in return, they simply can’t get enough of her.

At the moment, her fans are anxious. They are waiting with bated breath for the D-Day, now just a few hours away. They are praying that she doesn’t make a mistake or slip up-a fate that has previously befallen fan favourites in earlier seasons.

Other housemates who are strong contenders this season, as mentioned earlier, include Koyin, Jason Jae, Sultana, and Dede. These, alongside Imisi, make up the top five. But at the end of the day, it is ‘victoria e certa’-a certain victory-for the girl with the red dot on her forehead, her signature look.

Police said they have initiated investigations investigations into viral videos showing officers of Lagos Command tear-gassing students in Alakuko and an accident in Ikorodu injuring two people.

The command confirmed the probe in a statement posted on its X handle @LagosPoliceNG on Friday.

According to the post, Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), to conduct a thorough investigation into both incidents.

Jimoh condemned the unprofessional conduct seen in the Alakuko video, stressing that misuse of power and overzealousness by officers would not be tolerated.

He urged representatives of the victims in the Ikorodu accident to come forward with information to establish the facts and ensure justice.

The command assured the public that due process would be followed and any officer found culpable would face disciplinary action.

The Lagos police Command also reaffirmed their commitment to accountability and professionalism, urging residents to remain calm as investigations progress. (NAN)

The Concerned Taraba Youth Group has advised Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the better future of Taraba.

Mr Shadrach Gani, Leader of the group gave the advice on Saturday, while briefing newsmen in Jalingo.

He stressed the need for the state to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu administration. He noted that the state lacked the capacity to turn around infrastructural development that could create jobs and attract modern amenities.

According to him, Taraba must not be left behind in Nigeria’s development journey.

‘Today, Taraba stands at a defining moment. As young people, we carry the weight of tomorrow on our shoulders, and our greatest desire is to see our state prosper with opportunities, jobs, and modern amenities.

‘Gov. Kefas has already inspired us with bold reforms in education, healthcare, and empowerment. His energy and commitment have rekindled confidence among young people.

‘But the truth remains that many of the challenges holding our state back are beyond what Taraba alone can solve hence the state beeds strong federal support.

‘Critical projects that could transform our economy and create jobs for our youth have been abandoned for too long.

‘The Ibi Bridge, a gateway for trade and commerce. The collapsed Namnai Bridge, which has cut off communities and opportunities.

‘Federal highways in worsening condition, especially the Jalingo-Lau-Karim Lamido road and the River Benue crossing.

‘The massive Wukari-Jalingo-Zing Road project, running into hundreds of billions of naira, far beyond the state’s purse.

‘The Mambilla Hydro Power Project, a dream that can power industries and households across Nigeria.

‘These are not luxury projects; they are lifelines for Taraba’s growth. Without federal partnership, they will remain unfulfilled promises.

‘If Governor Kefas joins the APC, Taraba will gain direct access to federal projects, resources, and opportunities that our people, especially the youth desperately need,’ he said.

Ondo governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged people of Ekiti to re-elect Biodun Oyebanji, his Ekiti counterpart, for a second term in office.

He said this will ensure continuity of what he described as Oyebanji’s ‘people-oriented policies and programmes’ that have transformed Ekiti state in the last three years.

Aiyedatiwa , who described Oyebanji as a dependable leader, said a second term would avail the governor the opportunity to deepen the people-oriented programmes that had touched lives across the state.

The Ondo State Governor made the appeal on Friday during the funeral ceremony of Chief Mathew Okunola, father of Justice Oyebisi Omoleye of the Court of Appeal, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ikole Ekiti.

Aiyedatiwa also urged Ekiti people within and outside the state to intensify prayers for the progress and development of the state under Oyebanji till 2030.

‘Please continue to support Oyebanji because he has performed excellently and if given another chance, he will do more.

‘This our work is a big one and we cannot do it alone, that is why I am requesting for all your support.

‘The things we are doing are not what can happen within one month, it will take a while, every one wants it to get to them immediately and it is not possible. Just be patient with us,’ Ayedatiwa said.

While commiserating with Justice Omoleye and her family on the death of their patriarch, the governor described the deceased as a highly respected community leader.

He prayed for repose of the soul of the deceased, and urged the family to uphold his legacy of integrity and service.

‘The deceased did well and that is why we see everybody here today.

‘Those of us alive at this time, let us do well in whatever position we occupy, let us put in our best just as my brother Oyebanji, is putting in his best and am also trying my best in my state,’ the governor said.

Earlier, Oyebanji described the deceased as a trail blazer and an achiever in several fronts.

He said the late Okunola would be remembered for his dedication to community development and positive influence on the Ikole traditional Council, Church, and society at large, where he served with distinction in different capacities.

Oyebanji, while commiserating with family of the deceased, urged them to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a fulfilled life that impacted on the lives of many.

In his homily, the Vicar in charge of St Silas Anglican Church, Omuo Ekiti, Ven. Ajao Mathew, described the late Okunola as a true lover of God and His work.

He said that Okunola lived his life in the service of the Church and humanity.

The burial ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the country.

Tragedy has struck in the Federal Capital Territory as unknown gunmen brutally murdered a veterinary doctor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, and abducted his three children during a late-night invasion of his residence in Kubwa, Abuja.

Dr. Ogbu, a respected veterinarian and former Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA),

FCT Chapter, was reportedly taken along with his children on Friday night after the armed assailants stormed his home along the Kubwa-Kaduna Road.

His lifeless body was later discovered by the roadside, raising deep concerns about the growing wave of violent crimes in the capital city.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by a close associate, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, through a Facebook post. He wrote:

‘Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, has been found dead. The children are still missing.

May God please intervene.’

Dr. Ogbu was widely admired for his dedication to animal health and community service.

Friends and professional colleagues described him as a man of integrity and compassion whose death leaves a painful void in the veterinary community.

The deceased leaves behind his wife, who is reportedly in deep distress, and other grieving family members as search efforts intensify to rescue the abducted children.

This gruesome incident follows closely on the heels of another violent crime in Abuja the killing of Arise TV journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu during a robbery in Katampe last week.

Security experts and residents have expressed alarm over the rising cases of abductions and killings across the FCT, calling for urgent government intervention.

As of press time, the FCT Police Command had yet to issue an official statement concerning thebjwCalls and messages to police spokespersons went unanswered, though sources said an investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Nigeria’s military has listed killing of many terrorists, arrest of 450 suspects, and rescue of 180 kidnapped victims among the achievements of its troops involved in ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations nationwide in September.

Also, 39 terrorists voluntarily surrendered, while troops recovered 63 assorted arms, and 4,475 rounds of ammunition within the month, Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, stated this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

Kangye listed some of the items recovered to include grenades, IED-making materials, communication gadgets, vehicles, motorcycles, and logistics supplies used in perpetrating crimes.

Giving breakdown of the operations, Kangye said in the North East, troops of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI, had sustained momentum against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States.

He said the troops operations led to the elimination of several terrorists and the arrest of 21 collaborators, informants, and sympathisers, with a large cache of arms and ammunition in Konduga, Gwoza, Mafa, Monguno, Damboa, Biu, and Kukawa.

Kangye said the troops also dismantled terrorist camps, intercepted logistics networks, and supported the safe return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.

In the North West, Kangye said the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out clearance and rescue operations in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Kaduna States.

He added that troops killed many bandits and apprehended 46 suspects, including a wanted terrorist kingpin, Ali Saidu.

According to him, a total of 13 kidnapped victims were rescued during these operations, which also disrupted key bandit supply routes in Maradun, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.

‘Under Operation ENDURING PEACE, troops responded to distress calls and conducted clearance operations in Plateau and Kaduna States, where several extremists were neutralised, 12 suspects arrested, and 4 kidnapped victims rescued.

‘Similarly, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralised criminals and arrested six suspects in Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Nasarawa States, and parts of the FCT, rescuing two kidnapped victims,’ he said.

In the South East, Kangye said the troops of Operation UDO KA neutralised terrorists and apprehended four others, with weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and improvised explosive devices recovered in Anambra and Imo States.

Kangye reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and stability across all parts of the country, working closely with other security agencies and Hybrid Forces.

‘Our gallant troops will continue to sustain offensive operations and intelligence-driven missions until lasting peace is achieved in all troubled parts of Nigeria,’ he said.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a supportive and enabling environment for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle O. Nafiu, at Lagos House, Marina.

Sanwo-Olu commended the contributions of corps members to communities across Lagos, describing their role as vital to the state’s socio-economic growth. He also reaffirmed his government’s readiness to complete the NYSC permanent site project in Ikorodu.

‘It is gratifying that a large number of corps members are serving in Lagos. I want to assure you again that we will continue to provide an enabling environment for them to feel wanted, loved and appreciated during their time here,’ the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that corps members remain a source of national pride, adding that his administration would continue to encourage and support them in every sector they are deployed.

On his part, Brig. Gen. Nafiu praised the Lagos State Government for its consistent support to the NYSC scheme, noting that Lagos remains the number one destination for corps members nationwide.

According to him, over 44,000 corps members are currently serving in Lagos, including 303 doctors, 7,148 teachers, and 274 nurses deployed to various institutions. He said the scheme saves Lagos about ?14.8 billion annually in manpower costs.

Nafiu also noted the state’s peaceful security environment, which he said reassures parents that their children are safe while serving.

‘Lagos has continuously provided an enabling environment for corps members. Parents are always eager to have their children posted here, and for the past six years, the state has consistently recorded more female corps members than male,’ he added.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to harnessing the State’s waterways for innovation, growth, and long-term prosperity through the development of a sustainable blue economy.

He said the Lagos State Government is committed to using the E1 Lagos GP championship, which the State is currently hosting, to build a climate change ecosystems that is bigger and bolder to create leaders in economy, entertainment, innovation and technology while providing an electrifying environment.

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke at the African Blue Economy Summit: Lagos 2025 with the theme ‘Harnessing Africa’s Blue Natural Capital for Sustainable Growth’, held at Azuri Towers, Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, on Friday.

Sanwo-Olu, who emphasised Lagos’ resolve to integrate sustainability, climate adaptation and economic development into its long-term vision, said Lagos is uniquely positioned to lead Africa in sustainable marine development, citing ongoing investments in water transport, maritime infrastructure and climate adaptation.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, described the economic summit as a vital platform to harness Africa’s marine resources for prosperity and inclusive growth. He said the State Government is already investing in community-driven climate initiatives and major infrastructure projects.

Osiyemi affirmed the collective commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to build an avenue to design an environment for a united future and invest in infrastructure to tap opportunities in the waterways, which is a unique platform to harness strategic investment and advance sustainable maritime corners.

In his address, the President of the Didier Drogba Foundation, Didier Drogba, said the blue economy summit was a question of survival, as Lagos State leads in a global economy as a symbol of how technology, entertainment and innovation could be harnessed for transformation, ensuring how the youths can protect, innovate, thrive and align their future.

Drogba, the Ivory Coast-born former African Footballer of the Year and ex-Chelsea striker, said he was very proud and happy to be in Lagos. He expressed delight at the successful hosting of the E1 Lagos GP in Lagos, describing it as the fulfilment of a long-held dream.

‘I am very proud and happy to be in Lagos, because bringing the E1 race to Africa has always been our dream, and Nigeria has proven that it is possible,’ he said.

The Lagos State Government will on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, host the Lagos State Occupational Safety and Health (LASOSH) Conference, a high-level gathering designed to reposition safety as a central pillar of the state’s economic and social transformation.

Themed ‘Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as a Catalyst for Nation Building,’ the landmark event, organised by the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC), will take place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, and will bring together global leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and development partners.

According to the organisers, the conference comes at a crucial time in Lagos’s development journey, as the state grapples with rapid urbanisation, industrial expansion, and rising population density.

These factors, they noted, have heightened risks ranging from building collapses and transport accidents to industrial hazards, large gatherings, and emergencies in informal sectors.

The summit will move beyond dialogue to concrete policy action, aligning safety governance with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision of transforming Lagos into Africa’s model megacity and a global economic hub that is safe, secure, and resilient.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Director General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, underscored the strategic importance of the conference.

‘Occupational Safety and Health is not just about compliance; it is about protecting lives, preserving dignity, and driving Lagos’s growth story. At LASOSH 2025, we are going beyond rhetoric and building a Lagos where safety is a culture, innovation drives resilience, and every life is valued,’ he said.

The programme will feature an address by Governor Sanwo-Olu, a keynote speech on OSH as a cornerstone of sustainable nation-building, and a special policy dialogue led by Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, on financing safety through public-private partnerships.

Global representatives from Canada, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States will also share lessons from international best practices.

Panel and discourse sessions will explore sector-specific safety standards, as well as the future of work in balancing innovation, technology, and health. Companies such as Google, Ernst and Young, Lafarge, and BUA Group are expected to participate.
