Bowen Yang missed the latest Saturday Night Live season 51 episode.
“Missing the show tonight but it will be sooooo fun,” Yang, 35, revealed via his Instagram Story on Saturday, October 18.
The musician wished good luck to Sabrina Carpenter, who hosted and served as the musical guest for the episode, by adding: “Sab is amazing.”
Yang wasn’t completely absent from Saturday’s episode as he contributed to the writing and also filmed a pre-taped sketch prior to leaving New York City, according to multiple reports.

The comedian skipped SNL’s latest live show in order to accept the Vantage Award at an Academy Museum of Motion Pictures gala held at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The prestigious award is given to artists who challenge traditional narratives around film.
The annual ceremony also featured Bruce Springsteen receiving the Legacy Award for his contributions to film music, while Penélope Cruz was given the Icon Award.
“The Academy Museum gala is a special evening dedicated to bringing together individuals to champion the celebration, advancement and preservation of cinema,” Academy Museum director and president Amy Homma announced in July. “As we gather for a fifth year, we are honored to recognize Penélope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bruce Springsteen and Bowen Yang — storytellers whose influence has been proven to resonate in film and beyond. We are so thankful to founding supporters of the museum, including our partner Rolex, for their long-standing commitment to cinema, and our co-chairs for hosting this important event.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Yang received permission well in advance to skip Saturday’s episode so he could be in Los Angeles for the Academy event.
Despite speculation that Yang would leave SNL after season 50, he surprised many by signing up for his sixth season on the sketch show. (Veteran Saturday Night Live cast members Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim all left before season 51 kicked off earlier this month.)
Yang later told People in September that SNL creator Lorne Michaels personally encouraged him to come back for another year.

“I’ve always gone by the instinct of, do I have more to do? And I feel like I do,” Yang said. “Even Lorne and I talked about it, and Lorne was like, ‘You have more to do,’ and that means a lot, because I even confessed to him. I was like, ‘I feel the audience is maybe getting sick of me.’ And he was like, ‘That’s not true. There’s more for you to do. I need you.’”
Asked whether it was bittersweet to return without several of his colleagues, Yang replied: “What I’ve always thought, what I think everybody knows, is that SNL is this boot camp, and that implies that there is a next phase you train for something else. It’s always a transitional place, and I think it is always a launching pad.”
“Even for people who stay on the show, like Kenan [Thompson], let’s say, he has still used that show to help expand his possibilities,” Yang went on. “I think that’s going to be true for all of the people who aren’t coming back. I’m so excited to see what they do. I’m excited for the new cast.”
Saturday Night Live’s next new episode airs November 1 on NBC at 11:30p.m ET with host Miles Teller and musical guest Brandi Carlile. SNL has announced that comedian Nikki Glaser and sombr will appear November 8, while Glen Powell and Olivia Dean are booked for the November 15 episode.

Being asked to host or perform on an episode of Saturday Night Live is a big deal in and of itself — but even more so when a star gets the chance to do both in one night.
Harry Styles joined the impressive club in November 2019, making fans laugh in several sketches before crooning his hit songs “Lights Up” and “Watermelon Sugar” for the Studio 8H crowd.
“It is so great to be here hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time. I’m so excited to be here as more than just a musical guest, [it] feels amazing,” Styles — who previously performed on the NBC show four times — gushed in his monologue. “It feels like when you find out someone likes you as more than just a friend. Saturday Night Live and I have taken things to the next level and just like all my serious relationships, we’re all gonna spend one incredible night together, and then we’ll never see each other again.”
While Styles insisted that music was his No. 1 priority, he still had room for busting out his comedy chops, spending time with loved ones and having great hair. “I love being here at SNL. It has so much history,” Styles gushed.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-On Saturday, October 18, 2025 youths across the country matched while others cycled for Climate Justice caravan in the capital Lilongwe.
The caravan pedaled through Lilongwe’s townships, carrying placards with strong message of environmental awareness ahead this year’s COP30 Summit slated for November in Brazil.
The National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC) with support from Oxfam Malawi mobilised about 60 cyclists for the event under the theme, “Riding for Climate Justice”.
Oxfam Project Coordinator, Kondwani Mubisa, the initiative aims to amplify the voices of young Malawians who continue to bear the brunt of the climate crisis.
Mubisa expressed satisfaction over strong environmental messages being delivered to the general public including the country’s authorities.
“This is not just a mere show but a commitment and dedication towards managing our environment.
“We support this noble course for the good of our nation that youth voices be held ahead of COP30 Summit scheduled for Brazil next month”,says Mubisa.
Echoing the same, NYNCC National Coordinator, Dominic Nyasulu, said the caravan is part of a broader regional initiative that seeks to mobilize African youth voices ahead of COP30.
Nyasulu says, “We are going to consolidate all messages and present to Malawi authorities for their input into COP30 Summit discussions.
“It’s our hope Young people’s and children voices will make inroads into Summit discussions for practical solutions in addressing impact of climate change in poor nations”.
According to position paper for the Cycling for Climate Justice caravan, observes that despite contributing less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, people in Africa are enduring some of the harshest effects of the climate crisis.
“Malawi stands as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Over the past decade, our nation has faced recurring droughts, flash floods, and devastating cyclones such as Cyclone Freddy, which displaced hundreds of thousands, destroyed energy infrastructure, and set back our development by years.
“These climate shocks worsen an already fragile energy situation. Around 74% of Malawians lack access to electricity. Rural communities remain in the dark, most schools operate without power, and many hospitals struggle to perform critical services”, reads the paper in part.
Over 90% of households in Malawi still depend on charcoal and firewood for cooking This is driving deforestation and worsening the country’s climate vulnerability.
Meanwhile, Malawi’s grid electricity is heavily dependent on hydropower, which is itself threatened by reduced water flows caused by climate change.
This is the reality we live with. A twin crisis of energy poverty and climate vulnerability.
“Yet despite the urgency, Malawi faces a massive financing gap in implementing its climate and energy commitments.
“The country’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) estimate that Malawi needs over USD 41 billion to implement its mitigation and adaptation actions by 2040.However, little has been mobilized to date,” adds the document.
It observes further, “While we commend development partners and climate funds for their support, the truth remains: financing is neither sufficient, predictable, nor accessible.
“Too often, funds come as loans instead of grants, deepening the debt burden of countries that have contributed the least to the problem”.

Louis Tomlinson is reflecting on the first anniversary of his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne’s death.
“[Liam’s death] is something I’ll never really accept. I don’t think,” Tomlinson, 33, admitted in an interview with The Independent published on Saturday, October 18.
The “Just Hold On” singer has faced tragedy throughout his life, as his mother, Johannah Deakin, succumbed to leukemia at age 43 in 2016 and his sister Felicite died at age 18 in 2019. Then, in October 2024, Payne died from injuries sustained when he fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“I naively thought that, at this point, I’d unfortunately be a little bit more well versed with grief than other people my age,” Tomlinson admitted. “I thought that might mean something, but it didn’t at all.”
Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson’s Friendship Through the Years
He acknowledged that Payne was “definitely” the de facto leader of the band when they were formed on The X Factor in the U.K. in 2010. (One Direction consisted of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Payne and Tomlinson.) According to Tomlinson, a leadership role was thrust on Payne since he had much more performing experience than the other members of the band.
“It was definitely a role that was assigned to him,” Tomlinson said. “That is the truth. … He’d already played at half time [at major soccer games], we’d done s****y school shows.”
Tomlinson reflected on sharing “so many” great times with his bandmate prior to his untimely death, going on to point out that Payne was always the first to support other One Direction members’ side or solo projects.
Payne’s November 2024 funeral in Amersham, England, was the first time all of the surviving members of One Direction reunited since Malik, 32, left the band in March 2015. Tomlinson confirmed that their friend’s death “definitely” brought him closer to the other 1D members, though he admitted they’ve had trouble scheduling any further meet-ups.
“The best kind of friends are the ones where, when you eventually do meet up, it’s like no time has passed,” he said. “It’s also just amazing to see everyone doing so well in their own right.”
Tomlinson will be spending more time with Malik soon, since they have signed up to star in a three-part Netflix documentary that sees them travel the U.S. as they reflect on fatherhood and Payne’s death. (Tomlinson shares a son, Freddie Reign, with former partner Briana Jungwirth while Payne and ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid share daughter Khai.)
Unfortunately, Tomlinson recently revealed on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast that Payne’s death put a stop to any serious discussions of a One Direction reunion tour for the time being.
“Never say never, right, but I’m just not sure it would be right to [Liam],” he explained. “Say for the sake of argument, 25 year’s time, it’s like a f***ing Oasis thing, [and] they offer us an arm and a leg, and they’re like, ‘Come back and do this many shows.’ I don’t know.”

He added, “[Liam’s death] just completely put a pin in all of that. The irony is there was no one campaigning for One Direction to get back more than Liam. I would say I came in a close second.”
Us Weekly exclusively reported that a group of One Direction fans held a vigil for Payne in Buenos Aires on the first anniversary of his death on October 16. Fans placed flowers, signs and candles at a makeshift shrine at the hotel where Payne died and shared their favorite memories of the group.

In the sacred halls of faith, where truth and divine guidance are expected to reign supreme, the words of a spiritual leader carry immense weight.
The congregation looks up to their reverends and pastors not just for sermons but for prophetic insights that inspire hope and guide moral compass.
It is therefore deeply troubling when such a leader, entrusted with spiritual authority, misleads the faithful with false prophecy — as Reverend Yasin Gama has done.
Reverend Gama, standing on a pulpit before a congregation of Christians eager to hear a message of salvation, boldly prophesied that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) “ngakhale adzachite campaign chotani sadzabwereranso m’boma” — meaning that no matter how vigorously the DPP campaigns, it would never win the elections again.
This statement was not just political commentary; it was delivered as a divine revelation, a prophecy framed as an unchallengeable truth from God.
But as the poll results came in, the reality shattered this prophecy. Contrary to Reverend Gama’s declaration, the DPP secured victory in the elections.
This glaring contradiction between prophecy and outcome brings into sharp focus a critical issue: the integrity of religious leadership and the dangers of mixing personal or political bias with spiritual authority.
The first and foremost concern is the impact of false prophecy on the spiritual well-being of congregants. Faithful followers who accepted Reverend Gama’s word as divinely inspired were misled.
For many, such a prophecy would have fortified their political biases, perhaps even sowing seeds of division within communities.
False prophecy of this nature is not just a mistake; it is a grave sin because it manipulates trust and undermines the sacredness of the pulpit.
Reverend Gama must be held accountable for this deception.
It is imperative that he returns to that same sacred pulpit—not to issue another prophecy, but to repent publicly for his falsehood.
To acknowledge openly that he was wrong, that his prophecy was not from the Spirit but from personal ambition or misguided judgment. This is the only way to begin restoring trust.
Such a public act of repentance would demonstrate humility and a genuine desire to serve God’s truth rather than personal or political interests.
Without this, Reverend Gama risks exposing himself further as a false Reverend, one who uses the cloak of spirituality as a tool to manipulate rather than uplift.
The role of a Reverend is sacred and demands the highest ethical standards. A true man of God recognizes the limits of human foresight and is careful not to speak presumptuously in the name of the Almighty.
When a prophecy fails so spectacularly, it is not a trivial matter — it is a spiritual crisis, a scandal that threatens the reputation of the church and the faith of its followers.
Moreover, the mixing of political ambitions with spiritual leadership is a dangerous path.
If a Reverend allows personal political preferences to influence his prophetic messages, he compromises the sanctity of his office. The pulpit should never be a platform for partisan propaganda or personal gain.
Reverend Gama’s prophecy was tainted by partisan bias, and this has discredited him not only in the eyes of his congregation but also within the broader community of believers and observers.
The congregation and the wider public must take heed and critically evaluate the voices they choose to follow.
Blind faith in any leader without discernment can lead to disillusionment and spiritual harm. Reverend Gama has exposed himself as a liar through his failed prophecy.
It is time for people to stop listening to his falsehoods and seek spiritual guidance from leaders who demonstrate integrity, humility, and a genuine connection to the divine.
In closing, a sacred pulpit is not a platform for reckless predictions fueled by personal ambition or political bias. It is a place of truth, repentance, and spiritual guidance.
Reverend Yasin Gama must confront the consequences of his false prophecy by repenting publicly and recommitting to the true calling of his office.
Until then, the faithful must exercise caution and demand accountability from those who claim to speak for God.
Faith deserves truth, not falsehood wrapped in the guise of prophecy. The time for reckoning is now.
