Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen Have a ‘Grinch’ Reunion 25 Years After Film

Hearts everywhere are growing three sizes after the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who reunited in the lead-up to Christmas 2025.

Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen, who played the Grinch and Cindy Lou, respectively, in 2000’s Ron Howard-directed How the Grinch Stole Christmas, met up in the press room at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, November 8.

The pair were all smiles at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles as they chatted and posed together for photos. Carrey, 63, wore a tuxedo-style pin-striped trench coat and T-shirt while Momsen, 32, rocked a leather jacket over a black lingerie-style dress. She completed the ensemble with stacked necklaces, fishnets and combat boots, finishing the look with tousled waves and smoky eye makeup.

“We haven’t seen each other since The Grinch,” Carrey told photographers as he smiled next to Momsen, who added, “It’s been 25 years!”

The former costars were on hand to honor Soundgarden as the band was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Carrey was joined by the group’s late frontman Chris Cornell’s daughter Lily for a speech, before the surviving members of Soundgarden — Matt Cameron, Ben Shepherd, Hiro Yamamoto and Kim Thayil — took to the stage for a performance, which included Momsen.

She and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) performed “Rusty Cage” with the band, while Brandi Carlile and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) took on “Black Hole Sun.”

Although it’s been a quarter of a century since How the Grinch Stole Christmas was released, Momsen enjoys reliving her days in Whoville. During her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday, November 5, Momsen opened up about her positive experience filming the movie at 7 years old.

“Grinch, to me, was always great. Like, I don’t have any bad memories with Grinch,” she told host Alex Cooper. “Everything about it was awesome. Like, it was super fun. It was such an incredible project to be a part of that was so upper echelon at such a young age to see, you know, actors of that caliber. Jim Carrey and Molly Shannon, etc, etc, Ron Howard. And then it was also my first experience in a recording studio.”

Although she said she was “teased relentlessly” for playing the role at school, she said that, as she’s gotten older, she only remembers the experience being “wonderful.”

“So, why am I shunning this?” she questioned. “I am Cindy Lou Who, like, I am that girl, like, I’m still that girl.”

She also admitted that it was Grinch fans’ idea for her to record a new version of “Where Are You Christmas,” which she sang in the movie, with her band, The Pretty Reckless. After years of requests for a rock version of the holiday tune, Momsen and her bandmates — Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins — decided to record their take, which they released last month.

“I kind of turned to everyone and went, ‘Should we just try this? Like, should we just see what happens here.’ And so we put together an arrangement … we go into the rehearsal space and we jam through it once, and I kid you not, Alex, by the end of the song, these four depressed, miserable people had giant grins on our faces,” she explained, “and we all kind of looked at each other and went, ‘Was that just great? Like, I think that there was something magic that just happened. Here, are we doing this? Now we’re doing this.’”

Police vehicle, properties set ablaze during Zambia President Hakainde’s Chingola visit

….Two suspects arrested as Zambia Police confirm arson, looting, and attacks on government property amid chaos during President Hichilema’s address

LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-Chingola District on the Copperbelt was engulfed in violence on Saturday afternoon when riots broke out during President Hakainde Hichilema’s visit, leading to the destruction of public property and attacks on police officers.

According to a statement from the Zambia Police Service, the incident occurred at around 14:50 hours at Chiwempala Market and Chikola Secondary School grounds.

The Chingola Central Police Station received a report of arson from Superintendent Lloyd Kanondo, a 48-year-old officer based at the Copperbelt Division Headquarters.

Superintendent Kanondo reported that a police motor vehicle, a white Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number ZP 2537 B, was set ablaze by an irate mob that turned violent during the presidential engagement.

Earlier in the day, President Hichilema had been addressing residents at Chiwempala Market as part of his tour of the Copperbelt Province.

However, at around 14:00 hours, as the President continued his address, a group of unruly individuals began breaking into and looting shops near the venue.

When police officers intervened to contain the situation, the crowd became increasingly hostile and began advancing toward the area where the President was speaking.

For security reasons, President Hichilema was quickly evacuated and escorted to the Chikola Secondary School landing pad.

The mob, however, followed the presidential motorcade, hurling stones at vehicles in the convoy.

In the ensuing chaos, the police Toyota Land Cruiser was attacked, its windscreen smashed, before being overturned and set on fire.

Superintendent Kanondo, who was driving the vehicle, fired ten rounds of pistol ammunition into the air in an attempt to disperse the crowd, but the mob refused to retreat.

The value of the destroyed government property has not yet been determined, but officials say the damage is extensive.

The rioters also torched the Presidential Holding Tent belonging to Events Matters Company of Lusaka.

Among the items destroyed were a floor carpet, two carpet runners, a Presidential portrait, and a coffee table used by Lusaka Provincial Maintenance.

The violent group went on to burn a portable toilet belonging to Chrisai Company of Lusaka and shattered the windows of an Isuzu vehicle, registration number CAE 5930, owned by Mr. Chisha Musonda, who had transported the portable toilet.

Police have since arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.

They have been identified as Abraham Chilumbu, aged 24, an unemployed resident of House No. 24 Isunge Road, Chiwempala Township, and Abraham Sichone, aged 21, a bar attendant from Mjomba Compound in Chingola South.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon.

Following the arrests, calm has been restored in Chingola, and police patrols have been intensified to prevent further unrest.

In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga strongly condemned the acts of violence and vandalism, warning that such behavior will not be tolerated.

He urged citizens to refrain from engaging in criminal conduct, particularly during national events attended by high-profile figures.

Hamoonga emphasized that peace and order are collective responsibilities and that violence only undermines national development and endangers lives.

He further appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers and exercise restraint at all times.

The incident in Chingola has raised concerns about crowd control and security preparedness during presidential visits, with authorities vowing to ensure that similar disruptions do not occur in the future.

Chaos erupts at Zambian President Hakainde’s event as unruly crowd forces delegation off stage

Security concerns arise after unidentified individuals pelt stones during public gathering, prompting abrupt end to proceedings

CHINGOLA-(MaraviPost)-Tension gripped a presidential event in Zambia after unidentified individuals hurled stones at the stage, forcing the presidential delegation to vacate abruptly.

According to media reports, the violent incident occurred during a public function attended by high-ranking government officials and members of the public.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as security officers rushed to protect the President and other dignitaries from potential harm.

The event, which had drawn a large crowd, quickly descended into chaos as attendees scrambled for safety amid the confusion.

Security personnel swiftly intervened to restore order, but the damage had already been done, with the presidential team forced to end the event prematurely.

Authorities have yet to identify the individuals behind the attack, though investigations are reportedly underway to determine their motives and affiliations.

Preliminary reports suggest that the attackers may have been part of a disgruntled group seeking to disrupt the proceedings for political reasons.

No injuries have been officially reported, but the incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of political leaders during public gatherings.

Political analysts have condemned the act, describing it as a threat to democratic engagement and freedom of assembly.

The Zambian government is expected to issue a formal statement addressing the incident and outlining steps to prevent similar occurrences in future events.

Observers note that this latest episode underscores growing political tensions in parts of the country as Zambia heads toward a crucial election period.

Meanwhile, the general public has expressed shock and disappointment over the incident, calling for peace, dialogue, and respect for leadership, regardless of political differences.

Pete Davidson Makes Surprise ‘SNL’ Cameo, Gives Update on Future Fatherhood

Pete Davidson made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live to share the latest updates on his life in the two years since he last appeared on the long-running variety show.

“Colin [Jost], you’re looking as great as ever,” Davidson, 31, said during the Saturday, November 8, “Weekend Update” segment, jokingly adding that Jost’s cohost, Michael Che, “was starting to crack.”

Davidson, dressed in a gray graphic T-shirt and a leather bomber jacket, took a seat at the anchor desk to address speculation that he and Jost, 43, were losing money with their Staten Island Ferry remodel. (Davidson and Jost purchased the decommissioned ship in 2022 with plans to transform it into an entertainment venue.)

“In case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry,” Davidson said. “I assume that’s what the [New York Times] article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”

Colin Jost Says Scarlett Johansson Took His $280K Ferry Purchase in Stride

Davidson’s girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, announced this summer that she and the comedian are expecting their first baby.

“Hell yeah, I’m just excited to be a dad and give it all the energy and enthusiasm I never had for this show,” Davidson, who left SNL in 2022 after eight years as a cast member, said.

Jost, for his part, added that being a father is preferable compared to having a ferry. (Jost and wife Scarlett Johansson share 3-year-old son Cosmo. The actress, 40, is also mom to daughter Rose, 10, from a previous relationship.)

“What do you have to worry about? You have a great job and your uncle Robert [F. Kennedy] is the HSS secretary?” Davidson asked Jost, jokingly suggesting that his former SNL colleague is a member of the Kennedy family. “I actually understand RFK. Look, I wouldn’t be famous without my dad dying either.”

Davidson’s father, Scott, died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when the actor was 7 years old.

“Thank God that happened, wouldn’t trade it,” Davidson sarcastically added on Saturday, before going back to his original message about the ferry upgrades. “We even gave the boat a new name. We thought ‘The Staten Island Ferry’ sounded too depressing, so now it’s called ‘The Titanic II.’”

As for Jost, he stressed that the pair’s ship upgrades were “going very well.”

“We got paid by Nike to put an ad on it for the New York City Marathon,” Jost stated.

Davidson then revealed how the ferryboat purchase was actually inspired by longtime SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels.

“If Lorne Michaels taught us anything, it’s that you never ever give up,” he said. “Even if everyone says the time has come and Tina Fey is ready to take over. [And] I actually have an idea to make this ferry a success. As you know, we just had a mayoral election, which is my least favorite type of oral.”

Davidson subsequently interrupted his own bit to exclaim that it was a “classic Pete” innuendo-filled joke.

“Pete’s back, baby,” he quipped. “It’s now this, and [my SNL character] Chad.

While Davidson left SNL in 2022, he briefly returned the next year to make his hosting debut on the show.

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EDT.

How Johnny Berchtold Approached Playing ‘Villain to Victim’ Paul Murdaugh

Johnny Berchtold knew he had his work cut out for him after being cast as Paul Murdaugh in Murdaugh: Death in the Family.

“We meet him and he’s in a very specific headspace. He’s the party animal in that period of his life and he’s been raised without consequence. He’s getting away with a lot and he’s the youngest in the Murdaugh family, which is so much pressure. It’s a little bit of calling out for attention,” Berchtold, 31, exclusively told Us Weekly. “Then this happens and he’s seeing the consequences of his actions — tragic consequences. He’s defensive and he’s scared.”

Berchtold enjoyed showing the onscreen development.

“But then we find a young man who’s just trying to pick up the pieces. That was really beautifully crafted by the writers and our team in just bridging the gap from villain to victim,” he noted. “I was so grateful to be able to play that and show that side and that journey because I think it’s such a real one.”

What ‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family’ Got Wrong About Alex’s Murder Trial

While filming the scripted series, Berchtold changed his perspective on true crime, adding, “As an actor, you want to feel empathy for any character that you play. With this, I was familiar with the case and was forming my own opinions at the time and hearing other opinions. Getting to do this made me really sit back and just contemplate so many aspects of how we see people when we don’t want to see them as people.”

Murdaugh: Death in the Family, which premiered in October, is centered around Alex Murdaugh (Jason Clarke), who was indicted in 2022 on double murder charges after his wife and son’s death.

Alex is currently facing a total of 102 grand jury criminal charges and 19 indictments relating to fraud and drug offenses. He was disbarred, had his assets seized and is serving two consecutive life sentences for the murders of Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and Paul.

Based on the “Murdaugh Murders” podcast, Murdaugh: Death in the Family has attempted to unpack the scandals, deaths and murder trial surrounding the infamous family while still allowing a more “nuanced” outlook — especially when it comes to Paul.

“I just think that Paul didn’t stand a chance in the way that he was raised,” Berchtold told Us. “It breaks my heart. But that being said, you don’t want to excuse anything yet you want to try and understand. All I was trying to do is just try to understand.”

Alex Murdaugh’s High-Profile Murder Trial: Where Are the Key Players Now?

While speaking to Us, creators Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr shared the extensive research and outreach that went into the series.

“For anyone who knows the real story, it’s sprawling and it’s complex. The thing that was my guiding principle that I tried to imbue the process with is we might not always be able to do the [full] truth because [of] the restrictions of episode count and the running time. But let’s always try to be aware of what the truth is,” Fuller shared. “Then let’s make sure that in our story’s truth we know why we made this decision. We know why we made this adaptation choice.”

The priority was to have “utmost respect and reverence”

“We were able to talk to a lot of people directly involved in it for their perspectives for research purposes. I can’t name who they are but we really wanted to do hour-long pretapes,” Carr explained. “And Michael always had this thing where we would do one-on-ones with each principal actor before the episode was shot.”

New episodes of Murdaugh: Death in the Family air Wednesdays on Hulu.
