Jenna Bush Hager Sends Love to Dick Cheney’s Daughters After His Death

Former President George W. Bush‘s daughter Jenna Bush Hager is offering her support to Dick Cheney‘s daughters, Mary and Liz, after his death at age 84.

News broke on Tuesday, November 4, that Cheney died from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. Bush Hager, 43, spoke out about Cheney’s passing after he served in office alongside her father, 79.

“Of course, I think everybody is waking up and thinking about his family,” Bush Hager said on the Today show. “When you hear of a politician who passes, there’s tons of coverage about what they are like as a politician, but as a daughter of a politician, as a granddaughter of a politician, I just am thinking of his daughters and who they are missing, which is not necessarily a man who casts votes, but rather a man who raised them.”

Bush Hager issued a message specifically to Cheney’s children.

“So, I am thinking of Mary and Liz this morning, who I’m going to reach out to as well just to send my love, and I know my parents are thinking the very same,” she continued. “I think public grieving can be very difficult because there’s a lot about who the person is as a public figure, but very little about who they are as a dad, as a granddad, as a husband, and so I’m thinking of his family.”

Bush Hager noted that her husband, Henry Hager, is also close to Mary, saying, “Mary was very close, is close, with Henry, so Henry’s out of town, but I texted him this morning and I’m sure he’s going to reach out to her as soon as he wakes up.”

Cheney’s family released a statement after his Monday, November 3, death.

“His beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed,” read the statement. “For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming’s Congressman, Secretary of Defense and Vice President of the United States.”

His family continued: “Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honor, love, kindness and fly-fishing. We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country. And we are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man.”

Cheney had a history of cardiovascular issues, which resulted in multiple heart attacks. He suffered the first in 1978 at age 37 and then had four more through the years before undergoing a heart transplant in 2012 at age 74.

“Although the former vice president and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift,” Cheney’s office said in a 2012 statement.

Cheney later opened up about the procedure, sharing on a 2013 episode of 60 Minutes, “When you emerge from that gift of life itself, there’s a tremendous feeling of emotion, but it’s very positive. I think my first words when I came out from under the anesthetic and they said it had worked great was, ‘Hot damn.’ Literally.”

He concluded: “You wake up every morning with a smile on your face because you’ve got a new day you never expected to have. And there’s a sense of wonderment. Nothing short of magical.”

Arsenal thrashes Slavia Prague extend dominant form in Europe

…Arsenal 3-0 Slavia Prague

Arsenal continued their impressive run in both domestic and European competitions after thrashing Slavia Prague 3–0 in the UEFA Champions League group stage match played on Tuesday night .

The win further cements their reputation as one of the most in form teams in Europe this season.

The Gunners looked sharp and determined from the first whistle, with Bukayo Saka once again proving to be the difference maker. The England international opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot after Gabriel Martinelli was brought down inside the box. His calm finish sent the Slavia goalkeeper the wrong way, setting the tone for a dominant display.

After the break, Arsenal’s intensity rose even higher. Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino doubled the lead in the 46th minute with a precise left-footed strike from the edge of the box that flew past the helpless goalkeeper. The goal lifted the Emirates faithful who had traveled in numbers to support their team.

Merino struck again in the 68th minute, finishing off a well-worked team move involving Saka and Martin Ødegaard. The goal showcased Arsenal’s fluid attacking play and tactical discipline under manager Mikel Arteta, who has turned the North London club into a force to be reckoned with.

Arteta praised his players after the match, highlighting their teamwork and consistency. “We are showing the mentality of champions,” he said.

“Every player understands their role, and the connection with our supporters keeps driving us forward,”he added.

Arsenal now sits comfortably at the top of their group, ahead of European heavyweights like Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. Their qualification to the knockout stage looks almost certain if they maintain their current form.

Supporters have been quick to celebrate the team’s success with some fans humorously suggesting they might need “tayi ti sekilite” (seat belts) to keep up with the team’s speed and thrilling performances.

Many fans believe this could be Arsenal’s best chance in years to challenge for the Champions League trophy.

Football pundits across Europe have also lauded the Gunners for their tactical maturity and attacking flair.

Former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry described the team as “balanced, hungry and fearless,” emphasizing how Arteta’s system has finally clicked.

5 Best Canceled TV Shows of 2025 Worth Streaming, Ranked

We are gathered here today to celebrate the lives of shows that did not make it past 2025.

As it unfortunately happens every year, many series do not get to lead the rich and fulfilling life that may have once been promised to them.

Watch With Us hates to see a good show end too soon, so we’ve curated and ranked a list of five of the best series that ended this year but deserved to keep going.

Make sure to watch them now to honor their memories.

Starz’s ‘BMF’ Canceled Despite Multiple Spinoffs in Development

5. ‘The Franchise’ (2024)

From Armando Iannucci and Jim Brown — two of the creatives behind Veep this satirical comedy series lampoons “cinematic universes”  by providing a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of a superhero film. Titled “Tecto: Eye of the Storm,” the fictional film is a lower-tier and less loved installment of its overarching superhero franchise, and we follow characters such as a new producer (Aya Cash)  studio executive (Darren Goldstein), first assistant director (Himesh Patel), director (Daniel Brühle) and lead actor (Billy Magnussen) all involved in the chaotic production.

Loaded with funny lines and incisive banter, The Franchise is very much a show from the guy who gave us Veep. It’s another scathing industry take-down that skewers the ineptitude of the powers that be and featuring hapless characters and caricatures blundering around and just barely doing their jobs. Despite low viewership hurting this show, if you’re a fan of biting insults and sharp parody, The Franchise is for you.

Stream The Franchise now on HBO Max.

4. ‘And Just Like That’ (2021-2025)

In the two decades since Sex and the City Ended, we rejoin with our favorite New York City women as they’ve transitioned to 30-somethings to 50-somethings, still navigating the perils of love and friendship in the city while also dealing with death, marriages, children and new beginnings. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) pursues a new relationship, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) juggles her eclectic family and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) deals with a shocking loss (and Kim Cattrall’s absence).

While And Just Like That received extremely mixed reviews from viewers and critics throughout its three-season run, fans of the original series still tuned in for a guilty pleasure watch. While the show struggled to be current in a way that felt both insightful and fresh, its stumbles provided more humor and intrigue than the creators perhaps anticipated, and fans still loved getting to hang out with their flawed TV girlfriends.

Stream And Just Like That now on HBO Max.

3. ‘Resident Alien’ (2021-2025)

An alien sent to wipe out all life on planet Earth (Alan Tudyk) crash lands in a small Colorado town and takes on the identity of the town’s doctor, Harry Vanderspeigle. While still intent on completing his task, his mission becomes compromised when he discovers that a local boy can see his true form. Forced to assimilate with the townspeople, the new Harry finds himself becoming increasingly compassionate towards the humans he interacts with, which further complicates his deadly protocol.

An official reason for the cancellation hasn’t been confirmed, but the series was on life support when it moved to the USA Network after season 3. Regardless of why Resident Alien is leaving us, it more than succeeds as a funny blend of sci-fi and comedy with a winning performance from Tudyk.

Stream Resident Alien now on Peacock.

2. ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ (2021-2025)

At the fictional Essex College in Vermont, four 18-year-old freshmen acclimate to their new school and all the joy and drama that comes with it — in particular, their intimate ordeals. We follow Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Leighton (Reneé Rapp), Bela (Amrit Kaur), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) as they navigate sexual relationships, friendships and the struggles of burgeoning adulthood.

The Sex Lives of College Girls tackles resonant themes about personal identity, sexuality and sexual assault with a gentle and tactful hand. The popular series didn’t get the ratings that HBO wanted, and while it was shopped around for a new home, it was ultimately unable to find one. It’s a shame, because the series is an incredibly warm, funny and truthful take on coming-of-age in a college environment.

Stream The Sex Lives of College Girls now on HBO Max.

1. ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ (2019-2025)

The Righteous Gemstones creator and star, Danny McBride, once quipped that he could keep making seasons of his popular televangelist satire for a long time, so it shocked fans when it was announced that season 4 would be the series’ last. While purported to be a voluntary and natural conclusion to the four-season series, some fans can’t help but think it got cut too soon.

Netflix Cancels Several Shows After Only 1 Season

Regardless, The Righteous Gemstones is a hilarious, well-written and superbly acted lampoon of megachurches and celebrity preachers that will be an instant hit for anyone who’s a fan of McBride’s previous HBO series, Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals. In addition to being sharply critical of millionaire, profiteering “servants of God,” The Righteous Gemstones is also a genuinely affecting character drama, whose awful protagonists you can’t help but love

5 Top New Movies and TV Shows to Watch This Week on Netflix, Prime and More (November 4-7)

The first week of November boasts some fantastic new streaming content on platforms.

Watch With Us is probably the most excited for Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, with an all-star cast including Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth, on Netflix.

But that’s not all. The series premieres of King and Conqueror on Amazon Prime Video, Pluribus on Apple TV and All Her Fault on Peacock are also worth checking out.

We’ve got the rundown for the five best new shows and movies that you can stream this week.

New on Netflix in November 2025 — The Full List of Movies and TV Shows

‘Frankenstein’ (2025)

Genius but self-destructive Victor Frankenstein (Isaac) creates a monstrous being that has devastating consequences for both creator and creation. Attempting to adhere more closely to Shelley’s book, the film charts the life of Frankenstein from his adolescence through being fired as a surgeon for reanimating a corpse, ultimately leading to his successful attempt at bringing life back from death.

In festival reviews and reactions during the film’s brief theatrical run, critics and fans overwhelmingly praised the film for its visuals, emotional core, performances and faithfulness to the source material. It’s also been compared favorably to films like Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Watch Frankenstein on November 7 on Netflix.

‘All Her Fault’ Season 1

Based on the novel by Andrea Mara, All Her Fault follows Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook), who arrives to pick her young son up from a playdate, only to find that her son isn’t there — and the mom who answers the door doesn’t know either Marissa or her son. As Marissa and her husband Peter (Jake Lacey) search for their son, their family begins to fall apart, uncovering life-altering secrets.

This new mystery-thriller series has a killer premise and a great cast. In addition to Succession’s Snook and The White Lotus’ Lacey, All Her Fault features Dakota Fanning, Michael Peña, Sophia Lillis and Abby Elliott. It’ll be Snook’s first major television role since Succession wrapped back in 2023, and we couldn’t be more excited based on the thrilling trailer.

Watch All Her Fault on November 6 on Peacock.

‘The Alto Knights’ (2025)

Featuring the great Robert De Niro in a dual role, The Alto Knights takes place in New York during the 1950s and centers on notorious crime bosses Frank Costello (De Niro) and Vito Genovese (also De Niro). The two powerful men battle for control over their city despite having once been close friends, now bitter enemies following numerous betrayals.

Written by Goodfellas co-scribe Nicholas PileggiThe Alto Knights is directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man) and costars Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis and Kathrine Narducci. While the film received mostly negative reviews from critics, it was more well-received by fans. Plus, it’s hard to pass up on the gimmicky appeal of double De Niro.

Watch The Alto Knights on November 6 on Amazon Prime Video.

‘King and Conqueror’ Season 1

This eight-part historical epic period drama depicts a dramatized version of the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England. Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays William, the Duke of Normandyand House of Guinness’ James Norton takes on the role of Harold Godwinson of Wessex, who together meet allies at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and eventually fall into conflict for control of the monarchy.

King and Conqueror has been praised for its performances and ambition, although many have taken issue with the creative liberties it has taken in depicting this part of history. Nevertheless, the entertainment value is high if you don’t need to treat your TV shows like high school history essays.

Watch King and Conqueror now on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Pluribus’ Season 1

From Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan comes this new sci-fi drama series that reunites him with his Saul star Rhea Seehorn. Carol Sturka (Seehorn) becomes literally the most miserable person on the planet when a strange illness causes everyone to be relentlessly calm and happy all the time. Seemingly the only person immune to the virus, Sturka may unlock the key to its cure.

5 Movies and TV Shows You Need to Watch in November 2025

Pluribus co-stars Karolina Wydra (True Blood) and Carlos Manuel Vesga. The series isn’t just hotly anticipated for fans of Gilligan’s work; Gilligan had been developing the idea for ten years — after Breaking Bad had ended, and around when the spinoff, Better Call Saul, started up. And after working with Seehorn on Saul, Gilligan realized he’d found his next protagonist.

NBM plc awards 8 outstanding employees

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has honoured eight outstanding employees with platinum awards for their exceptional contribution, innovation, and dedication to service delivery across its service centres and subsidiaries in 2024.

The awards were presented during the Bank’s Staff Recognition Awards 2024 ceremony held at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe under the theme ‘Celebrating Excellence, Together We Shine’.

The top-performing employees received medals, certificates, and an all-expenses-paid seven-day holiday to Dubai with their spouses.

The initiative, according to the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Harold Jiya, is part of its continued efforts to recognize and motivate staff who demonstrate excellence in their work and uphold the bank’s service standards.

Jiya said the institution’s success in meeting customer expectations relies heavily on the dedication and morale of its employees.

“This is very significant because it is our staff that deliver to make our customers happy. This is one way of appreciating our staff, but also encouraging morale and the winning culture within our people. We believe when you celebrate success, you engrave a winning culture in people’s minds,” said Jiya.

Jiya further said the motivation and recognition drive is part of the Bank’s broader strategy to build a strong service culture by encouraging employees to go beyond routine tasks and deliver memorable customer experiences.

“We want our staff to be our heroes—the people who go beyond the norm to serve our customers and excite them. We want to recognize more of our staff and celebrate more of our teams. A motivated workforce means better service for our customers, and that’s what drives us.”

“These awards inspire others to work hard. They make the whole unit or service centre vibrant and motivated to serve customers better,” he said.

In his remarks, NBM plc Head of Digital Finance Services, William Kaunda, who also serves on the Rewards and Recognition Committee, said the Bank will continue with the initiative, adding that the process for selecting the 2025 awardees is already in progress.

“Come 2026, first quarter, we should be able to know who has won the 2025 excellence awards. We have seen a huge competition and a hardworking spirit among the employees, and this is what we want as a Bank,” said Kaunda.

One of the awardees, Client Coverage Manager, Nicholas Musaiwa described the recognition as both an honour and motivation to continue excelling.

“It feels so great, thank you so much to management of NBM plc. This is a great honour and privilege,” said Musaiwa.

He attributed his success to teamwork and shared values across the organization.

FCB plc donates MK70 million to Beit-Cure fundraising drive

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-First Capital Bank (FCB) plc has supported the Beit-Cure Children’s Hospital’s fundraising initiative by donating MK70 million.

Beit-Cure organised a fundraising dinner at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre on Saturday under the theme ‘Healing Journeys: Bringing the gap of hope’, where FCB plc made the donation.

Speaking during the ceremony, FCB’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Twikale Chirwa said it is the Bank’s duty to complement government efforts in providing world-class health services free of charge.

“True development is measured not only by economic growth, but by how much we care for the most vulnerable among us.

“Our commitment to this noble cause reflects the core values that define our Bank and our dedication making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve,” said Chirwa.

He emphasised that health remains a key focus area of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, and commended Beit-Cure for performing over 30,000 surgeries, transforming the lives of many children across Malawi.

“Beit-Cure’s work continues to touch the lives of children across Malawi, offering them not just medical care, but the gift of mobility, confidence and renewed hope. That is something truly priceless,” said Chirwa.

In addition to FCB’s contribution, Rasik Kantaria, a partner of FCB, together with the Bank’s founder Hitesh Anadkat and his wife Meeta Anadkat, donated an additional K80 million towards the cause.

In her remarks, Beit-Cure’s Executive Director Rhoda Jura Kriek, commended FCB plc for the donation.

She raised concerns about the challenges vulnerable children face in communities, including stigmatisation and fear.

Kriek reiterated the hospital’s commitment to providing free treatment to children with treatable disabilities.

“Our mission is simple yet profound, to heal the sick. Our surgeons and medical team restore the gift of mobility through free orthopaedic and plastic surgeries,” said Kriek.

The event was presided over by the country’s Vice President, Jane Ansah, SC, JA (Retired), who emphasised the importance of supporting Beit-Cure’s mission and called on stakeholders to continue giving.

“This is a direct call to us, to give. We are not just fundraising for a single surgery; we are funding for a complete transformative journey. Let us commit to this cause to ensure that no child is turned away because of lack of money,” said Ansah.

She commended the Beit-Cure team for their tireless efforts in improving the lives of children across Malawi

The goal of the fundraising dinner was to raise K310 million to transform the lives of 206 children and at the event, the hospital raised K275 million, leaving a shortfall of K32 million to reach its target.

FCB has partnered with Beit-Cure for over two decades, supporting its mission since establishment.

UDF suspends Publicity Secretary Dyson Jangiya over misconduct

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The United Democratic Front (UDF) has suspended its Publicity Secretary, Dyson Jangiya with immediate effect following allegations of misconduct.

UDF Secretary General Genarino Lemani confirmed the decision, stating that it aims to preserve the integrity of the party while an internal investigation is underway.

“The party is committed to maintaining the highest standards of discipline and accountability. The matter is under review, and details will be shared once the investigation is concluded,” Lemani said.

However, Jangiya expressed surprise at the suspension, noting that he had not received any formal notification.

“I have not been served with an official letter. What I know is only what is circulating online,” he said.

The Publicity Secretary’s reaction has sparked concerns over internal communication and coordination within the party with some observers calling for clearer procedures in handling disciplinary matters.

The suspension occurs as the UDF undergoes internal realignments ahead of the next general elections, a period marked by shifting alliances and renewed efforts to revitalize the party’s image.

The party has not disclosed the specific nature of the alleged misconduct, leaving room for speculation among political analysts and supporters.

As the investigation continues, attention will focus on whether the UDF demonstrates firm internal discipline or reveals underlying factional tensions within its ranks.
