Crypto gambling in Nigeria is becoming more than just a trend; it’s a way for players to enjoy faster payments, better privacy, and a wider selection of games than traditional sites usually offer. With Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins, deposits are made instantly, and winnings can be withdrawn in minutes, bypassing the usual banking delays.

Nigerian players also gain access to exclusive crypto-only bonuses and provably fair games, which bring transparency to the table. Whether you’re spinning slots, playing poker, or trying live dealer tables, crypto casinos create a smoother and more rewarding online gambling experience.

In Nigeria, the gambling sector is regulated by the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, which monitors traditional and online gambling sites. While in Nigeria, traditional gambling is legal, crypto is in a grey area. The Central Bank of Nigeria restricts banks from issuing cryptocurrency transactions; nevertheless, players can at least use their digital wallets to deposit and withdraw directly with international platforms.

This implies that crypto casinos operate outside the jurisdiction of local regulators. Players in Nigeria can have access to these casinos, but without any protection from the state. Licensed offshore casinos, often operating under the jurisdictions of Curaçao or Malta, are the primary option. Players are always advised to verify that the casino is licensed and supports secure cryptocurrency transactions.

With the legal landscape still developing, Nigerian gamblers continue to seek alternative ways to engage with Bitcoin and altcoins, offering a quicker, borderless method of play that bypasses local banking limitations.

In selecting the best crypto casinos for Nigerians, we went past bright visuals and marketing policy to look at things that really matter to the gaming experience. We evaluated key factors, including security, payouts, bonuses, and mobile formats. These are our limiting factors:

Licensing and Reputation – Bitcoin casino platforms with a licence offshore and those that players felt were trustworthy were polled.

Payout Speed and Crypto Availability – Bitcoin casinos that can offer either instant or nearly instant payments, along with a wide range of crypto options, were given a higher weighting.

Game Variety – A well-rounded variety of slots, live dealer games, poker, and sports betting is a must for legitimate crypto casinos.

Bonus offers and promotions – We examined and approached welcome bonuses and ongoing bonuses with the same respect, paying attention to fair wagering rules.

Mobile and User friendliness – Crypto casino platforms for mobile casino gaming should offer experiences that are easy to navigate/ use. The experience itself should be better suited for mobile.

This process was used to ensure that each Bitcoin casino listed was reliable, rewarding, and ultimately enjoyable for Nigerian players.

Getting started with crypto gambling in Nigeria is simpler than it may seem. With just a digital wallet and access to the right platform, you can begin playing safely and quickly. Here’s a clear breakdown of the process:

Step 1: Choose a Casino – Select a licensed cryptocurrency casino that accepts Nigerian players and supports popular tokens such as BTC, ETH, or USDT.

Step 2: Create a Wallet – Use a secure crypto wallet (such as Trust Wallet or MetaMask) to store and send your funds.

Step 3: Buy Cryptocurrency – Purchase cryptocurrency from a trusted exchange, ensuring the token is supported by the casino.

Step 4: Deposit Funds – Copy the casino’s wallet address, transfer your crypto, and your balance will appear in minutes.

Step 5: Start Playing – Claim your welcome bonus and explore our extensive selection of slots, live dealer games, and sports betting options.

With these steps, Nigerian players can enjoy faster and safer gambling without relying on traditional banking methods.

With the right approach, crypto gambling can be pleasant. Players in Nigeria can secure success and enjoyment by applying these straightforward yet practical tips:

Set a Budget – Before you get started, determine how much you are willing to lose.

Use Trusted Casinos – Focus your attention on licensed establishments that have high customer satisfaction.

Check Your Bonus Terms- Always read the wagering requirements before claiming any offer.

Secure Your Wallet- Activate two-factor authentication and keep your private keys saved in a safe place.

Play Responsibly- Know when to stop and remember that gambling is an entertainment.

Making smart decisions ensures that you will maintain pleasurable and safe playing experiences.

Cryptocurrency casinos are revolutionizing online gambling in Nigeria, offering faster payments, enhanced privacy, and fairer play than most traditional sites. Among other Bitcoin casino sites, Wild.io stands out with swift withdrawals to complement their extensive rewards system; Jackbit has one of the largest game libraries and a fully functional sportsbook; while Ignition provides one of the better poker/casino hybrids.

Each casino has its own edge, and we are confident that Nigerian players can find the best site for them. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference, but the three casinos we’ve highlighted will all offer a similar experience.

Themed ‘Sustainability 2.0: Innovating for Impact and Inclusive Growth’, this year’s edition will spotlight organizations and leaders who are pushing the boundaries of creativity, technology, and strategy to deliver measurable impact in their communities and industries.

The Awards Ceremony will hold on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Grand Ballroom, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Ahead of the ceremony, field verification exercises are set to commence on 8th -30th of October in East, West, and Southern Africa, where independent assessors will visit project sites and engage stakeholders to validate claims made in the entries. This rigorous process ensures the credibility and integrity that has made The SERAS the gold standard of sustainability awards in Africa.

‘This year’s record-breaking entry level is a testament to how far the sustainability movement has come in Africa. It shows that businesses, governments, and non-profits are no longer seeing sustainability as a side initiative, but as a central pillar of growth, competitiveness, and legacy,’ said Ken Egbas, Founder, The SERAS CSR Awards Africa.

The 19th edition also marks the countdown to TheSERAS’ 20th anniversary in 2026, when the Hall of Fame will be unveiled to recognize: Africa’s 100 Most Sustainable Organizations, Africa’s 50 Top Sustainability Professionals, Africa’s Top 100 Not-for-Profits (SDG 100), and Africa’s 50 Sustainability Changemakers (Institutional Leaders and CEOs).

NDLEA smashes cocaine cartels behind six UK-bound shipments

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled two major drug cartels behind six consignments of cocaine in a series of intelligence-led operations that lasted over three weeks across Lagos.

The drugs were concealed in walls of stainless cups, body cream and hair gel containers, leading to the arrest of five suspects and ultimately the arrowhead of the syndicate, Alhaji Hammed Taofeek Ode, who parades as a businessman and real estate developer, according to Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi.

In a statement, on September 16, this year, Babafemi said, the agency’s operatives at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja Lagos intercepted 174 parcels of cocaine weighing 13.40 kilogrammes, which were concealed in walls of cocoa butter body cream containers.

I’ve not heard Tinubu complain about challenges he inherited, says Mohammed

The United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, has said she has not heard President Bola Ahmed Tinubu complain about the challenges he inherited from his predecessor since he assumed office as President.

Mohammed said this at an award dinner at Nigeria House in New York to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary and the Independence Day Parade and Carnival.

The UN deputy chief said President Tinubu ‘fought hard to get to that seat’, even though he said ‘it was his turn’.

She added: ‘But he also told us that he wasn’t going to complain about what he got. I have not heard him complain.

‘People around him complain about what he inherited, but he doesn’t.’

Mohammed stressed that Tinubu ‘is the President of Nigeria. It is God that put him on that seat. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to get behind him and do the best we can for Nigeria, except you’re trying to tell me that God made a mistake’.

The UN deputy secretary-general congratulated Nigeria and Nigerians on the nation’s attainment of its 65th independence anniversary.

She expressed the confidence that the future is bright for the country.

‘We are a work in progress, and we are 65 years old as a country.

‘However, unless you are part of building a nation, no one else is going to do it for you.

‘It doesn’t matter whether you are in the country or outside the country,’ Mohammed said.

She called for concerted efforts to build the country and not pull it down, saying: ‘If we get into the pull-down syndrome, then who else is going to pull us up?

‘What else are we telling our children? What else are we telling people that we want as our partners?

‘If we are the first people to say that we’re no good, we’re not good enough, and I hope that we just stop doing that.

‘This is because Nigerians are the hardest working, most ambitious, and proud people.’

Global leadership with African roots and lasting legacy of Steve Azaiki

Under the stewardship of Prof. N’Dri Thérèse Assié-Lumumba, the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES) recently expanded the Executive Committee of the Global Africa Comparative Education Society by appointing eminent figures of international repute. This decision transcended administrative restructuring; it symbolised the birth of a broader intellectual renaissance. It affirmed that African scholars are not tributaries flowing into global knowledge but mighty rivers in their own right, carrying the lifeblood of ideas across continents. Among those whose work embodies this reawakening is Prof. Steve Sinikiem Azaiki, a Nigerian academic, public intellectual, and institution-builder, whose career of more than three decades reflects indefatigable fealty to education, comparative scholarship, and policy innovation.

A decade of service to WCCES

For over 10 years, Azaiki has been an influential voice within WCCES, the umbrella body for comparative education associations worldwide. His dedication was so significant that in 2019 he was appointed a Non-Voting Co-Opted Member of the Executive Committee for the 2019-2022 term, an honour bestowed in recognition of his ‘extraordinary contributions’ and his stature as a global thought leader.

Through WCCES, Azaiki became a bridge between Africa and the wider world, championing reform, equity, and the transformative role of science and technology. He persistently challenged the marginalisation of African perspectives, insisting that Africa must not remain a consumer of imported paradigms but must rise as a producer of new intellectual cartographies.

Expanding influence across African networks

Beyond his global engagements, Prof. Azaiki extended his influence through appointment into the Executive of the Southern African Society, linking him with leading continental scholars committed to postcolonial education, epistemic decolonisation, and the institutionalisation of African knowledge. In this capacity, he has been a weaver of networks, threading together diverse voices into a tapestry of collective thought and renewal. So compelling is his vision and proven capacity that many prominent and patriotic Nigerians, both within the country and across the diaspora, have voiced their conviction that Azaiki possesses the rare intellectual depth, administrative acumen, and patriotic zeal required to transform Nigeria’s education sector if entrusted with the mantle of Minister of Education. They regard him as an architect capable of rebuilding the collapsing pillars of Nigeria’s educational house, a master craftsman with the vision to turn frail foundations into a fortress of learning and innovation. His leadership is increasingly perceived not merely as desirable, but as indispensable for the renaissance of Nigerian education.

Distinguished stewardship across institutions

In addition to these continental engagements, Azaiki has held positions of extraordinary consequence, each underscoring his stature as both a scholar and a statesman. He served as the inaugural President of the Nigerian Chapter of the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, representing Nigeria within this global movement for ethical governance. Subsequently, he was appointed an Executive Member, Board of Governors and Vice Chairman, World Bank/IMF Parliamentary Network, a role that enabled him to participate directly in international fact-finding missions to Morocco, Ukraine, and other strategic jurisdictions. Between 2017 and 2020, he rendered distinguished service as Pro-Chancellor/Chairman, Governing Council, Niger Delta University, and he continues to shape educational futures as a Trustee of Hensard University, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State. More recently, by gubernatorial decree of Governor Douye Diri, he was named Chairman of one of five Visitation Panels constituted to evaluate tertiary institutions in Bayelsa State. His devotion to education is not merely institutional but profoundly personal: the Azaiki Public Library, hailed by Prof Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina, the Director-General of the Nigerian Library Board (2016-2021), as the finest privately owned library in Nigeria, stands as a monumental embodiment of his conviction that knowledge must be both preserved and made accessible to all.

Founding President of ISCEST Nigeria

Perhaps the most resolute lodestar of Azaiki’s institutional leadership is his founding of the International Society of Comparative Education, Science and Technology (ISCEST) Nigeria. Conceived as a dynamic platform bridging African and global scholarship, ISCEST became a vibrant hub where academics, policymakers, and practitioners converged to explore the role of education, science, and technology in driving development.

At a time African universities faced underfunding and global marginalisation, ISCEST stood as a bold defiance of the odds, upholding scholarly rigor while fostering international collaboration. Under Azaiki’s visionary leadership, ISCEST convened international conferences that attracted hundreds of participants across disciplines, generating rich dialogue on the intersections of education, science, and technology as engines of transformation. Through ISCEST, Prof Azaiki not only carved a space for excellence but also positioned Nigeria as a central hub of comparative education discourse, advancing Africa’s intellectual presence on the global stage.

Building Think Tanks for Africa’s Future

Azaiki’s vision, however, extends far beyond the realm of scholarly discourse. With pragmatic urgency, he established the National Think Tank Nigeria, a vibrant consortium of experts dedicated to crafting actionable policies for national development. Yet, his ambition did not stop at the borders of one nation. Today, he serves with passionate commitment as the Coordinator of the African Policy and Research Consortium (APRC), a continental think tank devoted to education, science, technology, and governance.

This initiative, bold in scope and profound in purpose, seeks to harness Africa’s own indigenous knowledge systems, consolidate the intellectual resources of its finest scholars, and forge solutions uniquely attuned to the continent’s challenges. It is a clarion call to reclaim intellectual sovereignty, ensuring that Africa does not merely adopt imported models but generates the very ideas that will shape its destiny. For Azaiki, this is not an abstract aspiration but a living mandate: Africa must stand as the architect of its own future, the custodian of its knowledge, and the author of its development narrative.

A scholar and builder of institutions

What distinguishes Azaiki is not simply his scholarly output but his capacity to transform ideas into enduring institutions. From his early advocacy for environmental justice in the Niger Delta to his global leadership roles, he has consistently sought to translate scholarship into structures that benefit future generations. His service to WCCES, leadership in ISCEST, role in the Southern African Society, and creation of think tanks stand as monuments to a life devoted to impactful scholarship. His work embodies a rare synthesis: the pen of the academic, the courage of the activist, and the hands of the builder.

A vision beyond the present

As Africa celebrates the elevation of Prof. Assié-Lumumba into the pinnacle of global educational leadership, it is equally imperative to honor the quiet yet resolute architects of intellectual renewal such as Azaiki. His journey illustrates that the continent’s renaissance will not be announced by borrowed voices or fleeting accolades, but by the deliberate labor of those who, like patient master builders, raise enduring pillars upon which future generations may safely stand.

In this unfolding narrative of Africa’s intellectual resurgence, Azaiki emerges not merely as a scholar, but as a compass orienting the continent toward its possible destinies. His career, like a lantern held aloft in the twilight, illuminates pathways that beckon younger generations to tread with courage, resilience, and imagination. Within his vision, Africa’s knowledge is neither peripheral nor subordinate, it is an essential verse in the grand symphony of humanity’s progress.

Indeed, at a time when Africa urgently requires homegrown solutions to its most pressing challenges, Azaiki embodies the model of the scholar-activist who transcends the confines of lecture halls and the pages of journals. He does not only write and teach; he builds institutions designed to outlive him. His vision is lucid and uncompromising: a continent where education, science, and technology are harnessed as engines of sustainable development, and where Africa’s intellectual capital is mobilised as a transformative force to shape its own destiny.

Alleged NNPCL fraud: Court freezes Mars Aviation account

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order temporarily freezing a bank account belonging to Mars Aviation Limited in Fidelity Bank Plc over the company’s alleged complicity in fraud associated with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Justice Musa Liman issued the order while ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), moved by its lawyer, Geraldine Ofulue.

Ofulue, while moving the motion, claimed that the account was currently being investigated in a case of criminal misappropriation and money laundering.

The lawyer identified the account number as: 5250350283 (C03651082) with the account name – Mars Aviation Limited.

The order issued on September 22 was on the motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1299/2025, filed on July 1.

The EFCC stated, in a supporting affidavit, that it received an open source intelligence alleging that some monies had been paid by NNPCL to Mars Aviation Ltd for purported contracts that were phony and granted in default of the provisions of the Procurement Act.

It added that based on the intelligence, the commission launched an investigation and found that huge sums of money had indeed been paid to the account of Mars Aviation Ltd by NNPCL, in various instalments.

The EFCC said interim freesing was necessary to preserve the funds and prevent any transaction on the accounts, pending the conclusion of investigation.
