LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera has appealed to Malawians to keep him in their prayers as he prepares to travel to Tanzania under a Commonwealth assignment aimed at supporting peace and stability efforts.
Chakwera confirmed that he has accepted the role as one of the key figures entrusted with facilitating high-level dialogue to promote calm and peaceful coexistence in the region.
He described the task ahead as highly demanding and emphasized the need for spiritual and moral support from all Malawians.
The former president noted that such peace missions require patience, wisdom, and courage, qualities he believes can be strengthened through collective prayer.
Chakwera further urged citizens across the country to continue upholding peace and love among one another as a way of strengthening national unity.
He said maintaining harmony is essential for Malawi’s progress, especially during a period of political transition following the recent elections.
According to Chakwera, Malawi remains a shining example of peaceful democratic conduct on the African continent.
He highlighted that Malawians exercised their right to vote and elected new leaders without resorting to violence or conflict.
Chakwera expressed hope that the same spirit of unity and calm will continue to guide the nation as it moves toward development and stability.
He reiterated that national peace is a collective responsibility, calling on all Malawians to safeguard the country’s reputation as a peaceful and orderly nation.
