LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Constituents on Monday, November 17, witnessed a landmark moment as Chimwemwe Chipungu, Member of Parliament and Minister of Defense, convened a community engagement meeting aimed at strengthening local development structures.
The event, held at Upstairs Lodge, brought together key stakeholders to elect a new Development Committee that will spearhead development initiatives in the area.
The gathering drew a diverse audience, including the newly elected Mayor of Luchenza, His Lordship Grivin Namukopo, party representatives, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, and members of the business community.
Their presence underscored the significance of the initiative and the shared commitment to improving the constituency.
In his address, Chipungu applauded the newly elected committee, urging them to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity in executing their mandate.
He stressed that the constituency is ready for a new chapter of progress, warning that any mismanagement or embezzlement of public resources will be met with serious legal consequences.
“We are opening a new developmental face for Luchenza,” he said.
“But this can only be achieved if those entrusted with responsibility serve with honesty and dedication.”
Speaking on behalf of the new committee, Richard Musisi expressed gratitude for the engagement, describing it as a groundbreaking approach in the history of the Luchenza Municipality Constituency.
He commended Chipungu for initiating the dialogue and fostering a collaborative spirit between leaders and the community.
The establishment of the new Development Committee is expected to streamline community-driven projects and strengthen coordination between local authorities and residents as Luchenza sets its sights on accelerated growth.
