BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) leader Enoch Chihana says has he is not losing sleep on his assuming office as second-vice president of the Republic of Malawi.
Chihana reaction comes amid questions in some quarters of the society on the status of his swearing-in after President Peter Mutharika appointed a partial cabinet of three ministers and sworn-in.
The AFORD leader’s swearing-in has been delay amid waiting full cabinet expected-out in days time.
Chihana’s publicist Maurice Munthali however disclosed that the Office of the President and Cabinet was working on the matter “to ensure a smooth transition.”
“We anticipate the appointment of cabinet ministers, and subsequently, the swearing-in ceremony of the 2nd vice president will follow, likely this weekend or early next week.”
“Our leader Enoch Chihana is not losing sleep over the swearing-in ceremony as its within 21 days according to the law”, assures Munthali.
Munthali therefore has urged Aford sympathisers to look beyond the alliance and invest their energy towards nation-building.
Ahead of 16 September, General elections, Aford and general settled to share the three constitutional presidential slots as follows: Mutharika – President, Jane Ansah – vice president and Chihana – second vice president.
