Elizabeth Oni has emphasised that forgiveness is essential for healing past hurts and that it is God, not time, who heals all wounds.
Oni made these remarks during the recently held Identity Conference 2025, which catered to women of various age groups and professions. The event took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Bashorun, Ibadan, organised by Ely Zabetta Community, an initiative she founded for women.
As the convener of the conference, Oni spoke on the topic of ‘Emotional Healing,’ explaining that emotional wounds can affect an individual’s perception of their identity. She urged participants to acknowledge their emotional pain and deliberately seek God’s healing, noting that unhealed wounds can lead to one ‘bleeding’ onto others.
She emphasized that forgiveness is vital, not just for the offender but also for the offended party. ‘Don’t let another person use you to truncate your own destiny,’ she advised.
Dr. (Mrs.) Olayinka Kotila, a pharmacist and lecturer at the University of Ibadan, addressed the topic ‘Understanding and Harnessing the Potentiality of Femininity.’ Key points from Dr. Kotila’s session included strategies for rejecting negative labels, understanding divine identity versus circumstances, concepts of redemption and transformation, examples of redeemed identity, and advice on overcoming limiting beliefs. She challenged the audience to believe in their potential and God’s plan for them, despite any challenges they may face, emphasizing that God can turn any situation around.
Emotional intelligence coach and facility manager at a rehabilitation center focused on treating individuals with substance use disorders, Elizabeth Adekunmi Tella, also contributed, discussing ‘Emotional Intelligence in Relation to Identity.’
Tella encouraged believers to identify with God’s word, start with what they have, empower the next generation, and understand who they are, despite their challenges.
Drama minister and founder of WALL Foundation International, Mrs. Ayoola Omolara, spoke on ‘Discovering Purpose and Living by Divine Blueprint.’ Her session, which addressed Identity versus Possessions, carried a strong message. She urged believers to prioritize seeking God in all aspects of their lives, reminding them that they are graced, gifted, and blessed.
Mrs. Temitope Emmanuel Ajayi, founder of Emma T Global Ltd, presented on ‘Fulfilling Destiny Despite Adversity.’ In her address, she highlighted the importance of impacting others and the rewards of obedience and reliance on Christ.
A week before the conference, Oni and her team reached out to women in the Akinyele and Lagelu local government areas (LGAs) of Oyo State, spreading messages of hope and reminding them of their value in society. They also donated relief items to vulnerable individuals, particularly women and children, in these areas.
