The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed assessment teams to the collapsed section of the Bukidnon-Davao City road in Barangay Palacapao here, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to restore full mobility and inter-province connectivity.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the immediate temporary closure of the affected portion of the road to ensure public safety while engineers conduct a full investigation into the extent of the damage.
The major road network, commonly known as BuDa Road, serves as a vital transport link for motorists and for the movement of essential goods between the Northern Mindanao and Davao regions.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes while the section remains impassable. Light vehicles can take the highway from Valencia City to Tagum City in Davao del Norte, passing through the towns of San Fernando in Bukidnon, Kapalong and Talaingod towns in Davao del Norte. Travelers can then go on to Davao City from Tagum.
Trucks are advised to take the highway going to Kabacan town in Cotabato province and on to Davao City.
The DPWH said updates will be issued once repair and rehabilitation works are underway.
