Prosecutor named as new DOJ spox

The Department of Justice has designated prosecution lawyer Raphael Niccolo Martinez as new spokesperson, following the transfer of former DOJ spokesman Jose Dominic Clavano IV to the Office of the Ombudsman.

Clavano joined Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla as the anti-graft body’s new spokesperson and assistant ombudsman.

According to the DOJ communications division, Martinez was previously assigned under the Office of the Secretary of Justice Prosecution Staff and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Prior to joining the DOJ, Martinez was an associate in a private law firm. He studied law at the Ateneo de Manila University and passed the Bar in 2021.

Justice undersecretary Fredderick Vida is serving as DOJ officer-in-charge as President Marcos has yet to appoint a new Justice secretary to replace Remulla.
