Two men were arrested at their illegal and polluting scrap yard in Prawet district, Bangkok, on Wednesday morning.
Environmental crime suppression police arrested the men, identified only as Somphop, 47, and Somwang, 42, at their unregistered waste-sorting yard on Soi On Nut 86.
Their arrest followed complaints about the stench and insects emanating from the yard.
According to police, the two men collected rubbish from housing estates at 100 baht per truck load and sorted it for resale. They sold food waste at 80-100 baht per barrel.
Late last year, police arrested 14 illegal scrap yard operators in the On Nut area.
