Uganda will today showcase its coffee at a high-end luxury cupping event in Hamburg, Germany, marking another milestone in the country’s push to market its premium beans across Europe.
The event, dubbed ‘Uganda Coffee Cupping,’ is organised by SeraWild Coffee in partnership with the Ugandan Embassy in Berlin. It is expected to offer a powerful platform for promoting Uganda’s rich coffee profile among buyers, roasters, and industry leaders from across the Schengen region.
SeraWild Coffee, one of Uganda’s Arabica exporters to Germany, was the only Ugandan firm to exhibit at the prestigious Frankfurt Coffee Exhibition last year.
The event marks the company’s second major European showcase in recent months.
SeraWild Coffee’s founder, Ms Milly Nanfuma, said ahead of the event that more than 30 top roasters from across Germany would attend the cupping session.
‘This is an opportunity to showcase our excellent product on the international scene,’ she said.
Ms Nanfuma, a German-born graduate of Hochschule Darmstadt, sources her specialty Arabica through farmers in the Elgon region.
The event will allow her and other Ugandan representatives to connect with international buyers, unlock new trade opportunities, and strengthen Uganda’s standing as one of Africa’s top coffee producers.
A similar cupping event was held in mid-September at the Bamberg Tourism Centre in Germany.
Industry experts say these exhibitions align with Uganda’s strategic goal of boosting coffee exports to 20 million bags annually.
The Hamburg showcase also comes during a record-breaking period for Uganda’s coffee sector.
Ministry of Agriculture data shows that export earnings hit $2.24b, the highest in the country’s history.
In the 12 months to August 2025, Uganda shipped 7.93 million 60kg bags, with both Robusta and Arabica continuing to perform strongly on global markets.
Uganda has recently taken its coffee to several international stages, including the SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition in Tokyo, the Frankfurt Coffee Festival, and the Swiss International Holiday Expo in Lugano, signalling a sustained push to elevate Uganda’s brand in global specialty coffee circles.
