Cyprus-Serbia Defence Ministers sign Status of Forces Agreement

Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašic is paying Cyprus an official visit Wednesday and will be received by his Cypriot counterpart, Vasilis Palmas, on Wednesday morning.

A press release issued by the Defence Ministry said that the two Ministers will sign a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) which is described as an important milestone in the further upgrading of institutional cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defence and security.

During the talks, the two Ministers will review the existing bilateral cooperation and ways of its further deepening, both at the operational level and in the areas of equipment and training.

They will also exchange views on Serbia-EU relations and the EU in view of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as well as on current international and regional developments in the Western Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
