Media entrepreneur and media personality Chude Jideonwo has made his debut in scripted filmmaking with Madam President, a three-part political drama inspired by recognisable real-life events in Nigerian politics.
The series premiered its first episode on July 21, 2026, on the ChudeFilms YouTube channel, marking Jideonwo’s first executive producing credit on a scripted project after years of building a reputation through documentaries and his talk show, #WithChude.
Speaking on the project, Jideonwo described Madam President as a story he could not ignore despite previously turning down opportunities to venture into scripted productions.
‘After years of saying no to scripted content, I finally executive produced a series focused on a story that is dear to my heart. You’ll recognise the story. It’s inspired by true-life events,’ he said.
Executive produced by Jideonwo alongside Jennifer Mairo, the series is directed by Mercy ‘Big Star’ Osazuwa and produced by Joy, Inc. in collaboration with YNaija Studios, with support from Africa No Filter and CcHUB Creative Economy.
Madam President features an ensemble cast including Peggy Ovire, Teniola Aladese, Ayo Adesanya, Patrick Doyle, Jide Kosoko, Grace Angalabiri, Dr. Faith Adewale, Bernice Ibe and several others.
The political drama explores themes of leadership, accountability, identity, courage and sacrifice while highlighting the role of women in navigating power within a system challenged by corruption. Through its characters, the series examines the personal and political consequences of leadership, portraying the difficult decisions that often accompany positions of authority.
Ahead of the premiere, members of the cast expressed excitement about the project. Actor Dr. Faith Adewale, who plays Tunde Briggs, described the production as ‘a touching three-part story about the magic women can create when they come together in a corrupt country like Nigeria.’ Actress Bernice Ibe, who makes her screen debut in the series, also shared her excitement about being part of the project.
Beyond its entertainment value, Madam President arrives at a time when conversations around governance, representation and accountability continue to dominate public discourse in Nigeria. Rather than presenting idealised political narratives, the series offers a reflection on the realities of power, justice and the human cost of leadership.
Following its YouTube premiere, the series is also scheduled to air on WAP TV, Wazobia TV and Rave TV, expanding its reach to television audiences across the country.
