UNEB closes late registration for PLE, UCE and UACE

Today, July 31, 2026, marks the final day for late registration of candidates who will sit for this year’s national examinations, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has said.

UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms Jennifer Kalule Musamba said the registration process closes at midnight, with no further entries allowed after the deadline.

She also noted that today is the last day for submission of registration files to UNEB.

‘After today’s deadline, there will be no more registration of candidates for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Heads of Centres and Inspectors of Schools are also reminded that today is the last day for the submission of registration files to UNEB,’ Ms. Kalule said in a statement issued on Friday, July 31, 2026.

She challenged all school heads and directors to ensure that learners in candidate classes are duly registered after an invoice has been fully paid.

The grace period for normal registration of 2026 candidates ended on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

At that time, registration fees stood at Shs34,000 for PLE, Shs164,000 for UCE and Shs186,000 for UACE. By June 30, over 1.5 million candidates had registered for the three national examinations.

The late registration phase began on July 1 and ends today. It attracted a surcharge of 100 percent for PLE candidates and 50 percent for UCE and UACE candidates.

According to Ms. Kalule, the current fees now stand at Shs68,000 for PLE, Shs246,000 for UCE and Shs279,000 for UACE.

Ms. Kalule said at the end of registration today, the Board will carry out quality assurance procedures, after which UNEB will set dates for the display of candidates’ registers at schools.

‘During the display period, parents and candidates will be required to confirm status of registration and correctness of the biodata submitted,’ she said.
