A magnitude 4 earthquake jolted the Southern Leyte town on Monday morning, the state seismologists reported.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake, which was tectonic of origin, occurred around 6:22 a.m.
Its epicenter was located 14 kilometers southeast of Sogod, Southern Leyte, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
Instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:
Intensity III – Sogod, Southern Leyte
Intensity II – Mahaplag, Leyte; Malitbog, San Francisco, Southern Leyte
Intensity I – Hilongos, Abuyog, LeyteNo aftershocks or damage to properties is expected from the tremor. /apl
