Police arrested a 20-year-old student for allegedly stabbing a Chinese man to death in a room in Sattahip district.
Na Jomtien police arrested Thanachot, 20, on Saturday afternoon and charged him with intentional murder after he allegedly killed Cao Ke, 20, earlier that day.
The suspect told police he returned from work in Pattaya and found Cao with his girlfriend. He said he confronted Cao while holding a knife, leading to a struggle over the weapon.
Mr Thanachot claimed he stabbed Cao several times but did not intend to kill him. Cao died at the scene, while the 21-year-old woman suffered several cuts.
During a crime-scene reconstruction, Mr Thanachot led police to a grassy area behind the room where he had allegedly discarded a folding knife. Officers recovered the knife using a metal detector.
