The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Saturday warned the public of potential ashfall from Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island.
In an advisory, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the volcano emitted voluminous ash at 11:23 a.m, which rose 150 meters above the summit crater.
Phivolcs said the plume drifted toward the southeast brought by strong winds. OCD-Negros Island Region advised nearby communities to take precautions.
The state seismologist earlier recorded superheated plume activity at Kanlaon’s crater between 11:05 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Friday. The volcano remained under Alert Level 2, indicating moderate level of unrest
