Aaron Paul has joined the many actors who have decided to leave Los Angeles behind.

“When the fires happened in L.A., we just knew that we were done with L.A., so we sold our house in L.A. and moved to Paris,” the Breaking Bad actor, 46, told the Daily Mail while attending The Only at 1850 by American Express party during the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on Friday, November 21.

“Paris is awesome,” Paul told the outlet, adding that he moved there with his wife, Lauren Paul, and their two young children.

“We went out there for the kiddos,” he added, before exclaiming that he and his wife “always dreamed of doing a year abroad.”

“We just always wanted to be around a completely different culture,” he said.

In January, multiple wildfires broke out in and around the Los Angeles area, destroying over 18,000 structures, burning more than 57,5000 acres and killing upwards of 440 people, including indirect deaths from smoke exposure. The wildfires are believed to have cost anywhere from $28 billion to $53.8 billion.

In July, People reported that Paul put his Los Feliz home on the market, listing the three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home for $10 million. The home — designed by famed architect Stiles O. Clements and previously owned by Robert Pattinson, Tim Curry, Noah Wyle, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Jim Parsons — sits on 1.5 acres and combines “preserved period detail with refined inferior updates,” according to the listing.

“Aberdeen has been a safe haven for my family and we feel so lucky to have experienced so much life here over the years,” Paul said of his former home in a statement to People at the time. “We will forever hold this home and its history close to our hearts.”

Paul is just the latest Hollywood A-lister to leave the U.S. for a life across the pond. Both Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell have decided to relocate to Europe in the wake of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential victory.

“I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home, and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country,” O’Donnell said in a TikTok video detailing her move to Ireland and the reason behind it. “And when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

DeGeneres, for her part, also admitted that politics played a role in her decision to move to the U.K. with her wife, Portia de Rossi.

While some of the celebrity relationships from years past ultimately sound like lucky escapes, others make Us feel a little sad. Yes, of course it started as a movie set romance, or at least a movie set crush — and in this case, the set was 1999’s Me, Myself & Irene. The movie’s producer Bobby Farrelly told People in 2000 that Carrey, then 37, “flipped for her immediately” but Zellweger, then 30, took a little longer to warm up.

“I liked him, a lot, but you’re not going (to the set) for the love connection,” she told CNN in 2000. “When the picture wrapped, we’d spoken a couple of times on the phone and then all those rumors came out that I was dating him. I was so mad. I said, ‘No, it’s not true.’ And then I went home … and I went, ‘God, I do miss him.’”

And buckle up for one of the cutest stories from the romance: Zellweger was about to shoot the first Bridget Jones movie but, ahead of filming, was getting to know her character by going undercover for an internship at a London publishing company. She later revealed at the Cannes Film Festival that her coworkers thought the new girl was really odd for having a framed picture of Carrey on her desk, only clocking who she really was months later.

In December 2000, publicists for both stars — before they could rely on Instagram to do these kinds of announcements for them — confirmed they had split. “As of a couple of weeks ago, Jim Carrey and Renée Zellweger are no longer in a relationship,” stated Zellweger’s office, adding that the pair wanted different things (in fact, rumors swirled that he wanted a wedding, and she didn’t.) Carrey’s rep added, “It’s a private matter.”

‘The Iron Claw’ Recaptures the Spirit of Wrestling in the ’80s

This film only had a $15.9 million budget, so it couldn’t fully recreate the spectacle of World Class Championship Wrestling at the Sportatorium or Texas Stadium. Instead, The Iron Claw aimed to recapture the spirit of professional wrestling in Texas. In the era before everyone knew that professional wrestling was scripted and fake, the Von Erichs were treated like real-life superheroes. The crowds in Dallas and all over Texas couldn’t get enough of them.

Although they aren’t big players in this film, wrestling legends Ric Flair (Aaron Dean Eisenberg), Michael P.S. Hayes (Brady Pierce), Bruiser Brody (Cazzey Louis Cereghino), The Sheik (Chavo Guerrero Jr.), Harley Race (Kevin Anton) and Gino Hernandez (Ryan Nemeth) are all present in the movie. Those names may not mean much to anyone who doesn’t love wrestling, but modern professional wrestling owes a great deal to all of those trailblazers.

The Cast Give Terrific Performances as the Von Erichs

There are two standouts among the cast of The Iron Claw: Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich and Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich. They played the most famous Von Erich brothers, and the ones who left the biggest mark on the industry. Efron and White have to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the film’s most dramatic scenes, and they bring out the inner emotions of Kevin and Kerry.

Holt McCallany is also fantastic as their father, Jack “Fritz” Von Erich, the man who pushed his sons to follow in his footsteps as wrestlers. Harris Dickinson and Stanley Simons deserve recognition as well for their portrayal of the other Von Erich brothers, David Von Erich and Mike Von Erich, respectively. They may have had limited screen time compared to Efron and White, but they made the most out of what they had to work with.

‘The Iron Claw’ Is a Profoundly Sad Yet Hopeful Movie

Some critics have described The Iron Claw as an anti-sports sports movie, because this isn’t a story about a triumph over adversity. Instead, the Von Erichs are trapped in a series of heartbreaking tragedies that shatter their wrestling legacy and leave the ones they leave behind dealing with sorrow and despair.

There are so many bad things that happened to the Von Erichs that the film actually excluded the fifth brother, Chris Von Erich, from the narrative and gave some of his story to Mike. Everything that went down led to talk about a Von Erich curse, and it’s easy to see why people would attribute their downfall to something like that. The truth is more complex, but The Iron Claw manages to end on a hopeful note for the last of the Von Erich brothers. It’s not the happiest ending, but it’s a ray of sunshine compared to the endless gloom of their lives.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Ekhaya FC put on a masterclass on Saturday afternoon as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

James Lumbe opened the scoring in the 21st minute after receiving a precise pass from Emmanuel Saviel, slotting the ball home with ease to give Ekhaya FC an early advantage.

The goal ignited the home crowd and set the tone for the rest of the first half.

Ekhaya doubled their lead in the 29th minute through Blessings Malinda.

The striker’s dazzling footwork saw him breeze past the Chitipa United defense before firing a powerful shot past the goalkeeper.

A third goal came in the 39th minute as Saviel himself found the back of the net.

Ekhaya’s swift passing and coordinated movements broke down the visiting defense, making it look easy for Saviel to extend the lead to 3-0.

At halftime, the scoreboard read Ekhaya FC 3, Chitipa United 0. The goals came from James Lumbe (21’), Blessings Malinda (29’), and Emmanuel Saviel (39’).

The second half saw both teams make changes with Ekhaya introducing Wongani Kaponya for Matchipitsa, while Chitipa United made a triple substitution including Marley Kasongo, Raphael Nkhoma and Daniel Boston in an attempt to alter the game’s flow.

Chitipa United showed signs of improvement in possession but they were unable to penetrate Ekhaya’s organized defense.

Ekhaya also made tactical substitutions, bringing in Samuel Rukula, Clever Chikwata, Innocent Msowoya and Fanizo Mwansambo, which allowed them to maintain their dominance in the final stages of the match.

After five minutes of added time, the referee blew the final whistle, confirming Ekhaya FC’s emphatic 3-0 win. Moses Banda was named man of the match for his influential performance in midfield.

Chitipa United coach Kondwa Ikwanga acknowledged the fatigue of his players after their long journey, stating that although there were opportunities, the team failed to capitalize on them.

Meanwhile, Ekhaya coach Enos Chatama expressed satisfaction with the victory but noted that some tactical points from training didn’t go as planned, promising to address these in upcoming sessions.

Ekhaya is currently in 6th position with 36 points from 23 games, while Chitipa United sits in 9th position with 32 points from 25 matches.

KABWE-(MaraviPost)-Seven male suspects have been arrested in Kabwe for allegedly harassing Patriotic Front (PF) faction leader Given Lubinda on Wednesday.

The suspects are currently in police custody as they await formal charges.

Zambia Police Service public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to the media.

He said investigations into the incident are still underway, and the public will be updated as more information becomes available.

Meanwhile, police in Kabwe have requested Mr Lubinda, who is the complainant in the matter, to submit a formal statement.

They have also advised him to complete the necessary case-complaint procedures to support the ongoing investigation.

Mr Chilabi emphasised that the Zambia Police Service maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach to political violence.

He reiterated that any form of politically motivated harassment, intimidation, or assault constitutes a criminal offence.

The incident has raised concerns about rising political tensions and the need for greater adherence to the rule of law.

Police have urged members of the public to refrain from acts of violence and to allow legal processes to take their course.

The arrests mark the first major step in the investigation as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the harassment of Mr Lubinda.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Second Vice-President Enock Chihana has called on Malawians to remain confident in the Blue Alliance-led administration, stressing that government is working tirelessly to resolve the social and economic hardships currently facing the nation.

Speaking on Saturday during a “Thank You” rally at Nchalo in Chikwawa, Chihana said President Peter Mutharika’s government is committed to implementing practical, people-focused interventions aimed at stabilising key sectors of the economy.

He noted that efforts are underway to strengthen the food supply chain, ensure consistent fuel availability, reduce fertiliser prices and improve access to essential commodities and services.

Chihana attributed many of the challenges affecting Malawians to what he described as the mismanagement of national affairs by the previous administration.

He said inherited issues such as distorted fuel procurement systems, unpaid suppliers, fertiliser shortages and forex constraints continue to place pressure on ordinary citizens.

Despite these hurdles, the Second Vice-President appealed for patience, saying ongoing reforms will soon yield positive results.

“Maize are available even fuel are also available and we are fixing this country ” he assured the gathering.

During the rally, the AFORD leader also took time to thank the people of Chikwawa and Nsanje for overwhelmingly backing President Mutharika in the September 16 presidential election.

According to official figures, the Lower Shire delivered 280,480 votes for the Blue Alliance, including 187,283 from Chikwawa plus an additional 7,000 from traditional leaders’ strongholds while Nsanje contributed 93,000 votes, with a further 10,000 going to other candidates.

Chihana also reiterated his party’s unwavering commitment to the alliance, expressing confidence that the partnership with the DPP would secure another national victory in the 2030 general elections.

He further criticised the former ruling party, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), accusing it of oppressing Malawians during its time in office.

Chihana said with the southern region contributing 92 percent of its votes to the Blue Alliance, there is no doubt the government enjoys strong support and a clear mandate from the people.

He reaffirmed that maize imports from Zambia are secured, fertiliser stocks are available, fuel supply has stabilised and forex inflows are gradually improving.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Mary Navicha has called for stronger and sustained investment in the Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA).

She emphasised that the institution must be fully resourced to achieve its mandate and ensure that people with disabilities are empowered to shape the nation’s development agenda.

“For MACODA to function effectively, it requires adequate and reliable resources.

Disability inclusion is not an act of charity, it is a national responsibility,” Navicha stated as she donated K1 million to the council.

She described her contribution as part of the government’s duty to uplift marginalised and underserved communities.

Navicha made the remarks on Friday at Parliament during the launch of this year’s MACODA Flag Week in Lilongwe.

The event renewed national attention on the need for inclusive development that places persons with disabilities at the centre of Malawi’s growth trajectory.

Guest of honour Vice-President Jane Ansah underscored the importance of integrating disability inclusion across all national development strategies.

She noted that millions of Malawians continue to face systemic barriers that limit their participation in social, economic, and political life.

“Sustainable development requires proactive disability programming at every stage of planning and implementation,” Ansah said.

She also urged stronger collaboration among stakeholders to remove obstacles faced by people with disabilities.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, President Arthur Peter Mutharika pledged K5 million to the initiative.

Vice-President Ansah contributed K2.5 million to support the MACODA Flag Week.

This year’s MACODA Flag Week seeks to raise funds and heighten public awareness to advance disability rights.

The initiative also aims to expand access to essential services and promote the meaningful participation of all citizens in Malawi’s development.

The 2025 TNM Super League season has brought with it an unusual talking point: why are some teams playing more matches than others?

Fans across the country have noticed the discrepancy and are asking why fairness seems compromised in what is supposed to be Malawi’s premier football competition.

While some clubs have played as many as 25 games, others have only completed 20 or 21.

This difference is significant in a league where every point counts and it can have serious implications for teams chasing the title or fighting relegation.

According to Sulom, all teams are meant to play an equal number of matches to maintain fairness.

The organization insists that this approach ensures no team is unfairly advantaged and it aligns with international best practices in league management.

This principle mirrors the NBS National Division League, where every team plays the same number of games.

In that league, fans rarely question the schedule because the competition is clearly balanced and every team competes on equal footing from start to finish.

Unequal fixtures have caused tension and confusion in the TNM Super League. Teams are unsure if the scheduling is random or deliberate, which adds uncertainty to the season and fuels speculation about favoritism and league management.

Some observers worry that extra matches for certain teams may give them an advantage, especially those chasing the top positions. These additional games allow teams to rack up points more quickly, potentially altering the competitive dynamics of the league.

Sports analyst Ibrahim Phiri explains that when leading teams have played more games, it can create the perception that the league favors certain clubs. This perception alone can impact the morale and performance of rival teams, who may feel the system is stacked against them.

Phiri warns that unequal scheduling could increase the risk of match-fixing or manipulation, particularly in crucial end-of-season games.

If fans lose trust in the fairness of the league, it could harm the reputation of the TNM Super League for years to come.

He also notes that teams trailing in the standings often feel immense pressure to win every match, assuming that “games in hand” will automatically translate into more points. This mindset can lead to mistakes on the pitch and affect strategic planning.

Phiri stresses that this perception is misleading. Additional games do not guarantee success and teams must still perform under pressure to secure the points needed to climb the league table.

SULOM has defended its scheduling system, saying that assigning extra matches is part of a plan to ensure the league concludes by December 20, 2025. They argue that this approach allows organizers to manage fixtures efficiently and deliver a competitive end to the season.

However, this plan seems at odds with the Football Association of Malawi’s official calendar, which indicates the season should end in March 2026.

The conflicting timelines have added to the confusion and led some fans to question the coordination between league organizers and the mother body.

The scheduling debate continues to divide opinions among fans, players and club officials.

Supporters of the current system argue that it is necessary for logistical reasons, while critics maintain that fairness should never be compromised for convenience.

Regardless of the reasons, playing an unequal number of matches affects the integrity and competitiveness of the league. Fair competition is the backbone of any sporting event, and any perception of favoritism undermines the spirit of football in Malawi.
