Ogun Golf Boss Appeals To Govt To Honour Pledges To Abeokuta Club

Chairman of the Ogun State Golf Association, Chief Adewunmi Adefolu, has appealed to the Ogun State government to fulfil promises made to the Abeokuta Golf Club earlier in the year, ahead of the National Sports Festival hosted in Abeokuta in May.

The veteran golfer said the club was still waiting for government support to provide a dredger, pumps, slashers and tractors for proper maintenance of the golf course.

‘Because we have a lake here, we need a dredger. We also need pump, slashers and tractors. And we have been waiting since then. The promise was made in February and reconfirmed in April. Even when we finished the National Sports Festival in May, the Director General, National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade reconfirmed it. And we are still waiting,’ Adefolu said.

He explained that despite the government’s promises, the club had continued to rely on member contributions to sustain operations, stressing that the golf course, built in 1986, is government property.

‘If they made a promise and did not fulfill it, what can I do? But I’m appealing that the government should please look into that and do something for Abeokuta Golf Club,’ he said.

Adefolu added that golf contributed to Ogun State’s strong performance at the festival, helping the state rise to third place overall.

‘For once, in the history of golf in the National Sports Festival, Ogun State came first after so many years,’ he said.

The chairman lamented the misconception that golf is elitist, noting that the club depends entirely on member subscriptions to maintain its facilities, which cost about N20 million monthly.

He also called on the government to extend support to golf associations just as it does for football.

‘There is hardly a state government that does not have a football team. No state government has a golf team. It is state associations that are solely responsible,’ he said

NAPTIP Launches Manhunt For Suspect In Spousal Battery Case

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has commenced a manhunt for a suspect over an alleged case of spousal battery in Abuja.

According to the agency, the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to a hospital in the Gudu District for emergency medical care following the incident. NAPTIP operatives were said to have monitored the situation and gathered relevant information to support the ongoing investigation.

The agency said it has since placed the suspect on a security watchlist in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Immigration Service, and other relevant authorities.

The Head of NAPTIP’s Rapid Response Unit, Dr. Emeh Magnus, confirmed that official reports have been forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police and other concerned agencies to aid the investigation.

NAPTIP reiterated that domestic violence constitutes a criminal offense under Nigerian law and emphasized that the agency remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of such abuse.

The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition and receiving medical care.

FIFA Agent, Chinyam, Commits To Supporting Young Talents In Nigeria

A Benue State born FIFA licenced agent, Tersoo Alexander Chinyam, has expressed commitment to unearthing and developing young football talents that abound in Nigeria.

At the moment, the United Kingdom (UK) based is the only FIFA-licensed football agent from Benue State, an achievement that places him among leading Nigerian sports professionals who are recognised globally.

In order to actualize his dream of empowering youths around the world through football, Chinyam founded SportsFame, an international football agency that operates across England, Europe, and North America.

Interestingly, the agency’s main objective is to ensure career development, international transfers, and player mentorship.

To demonstrate his passion, dedication and resolve to discover and nurture young talents in Nigeria, the FIFA agent recently sponsored a five-day scouting programme in Abuja in partnership with a renowned football academy in Benue State, EmmyJeks Academy.

The hugely successful scouting programme brought together young footballers from Benue and neighbouring states to showcase their potential before reputable international scouts.

Speaking on his passion for youth football development, Chinyam said ‘As a young son of the soil in the diaspora, contributing to the developmental growth of Benue through sponsorship of young, up-and-coming potential stars is my way of giving back.

‘As a licensed football agent for FIFA, I feel privileged to use my position to uplift the next generation.’

The president of EmmyJeks Academy, Mr. Emmanuel Jekelle, thanked the young and dynamic football agent for his magnanimity and patriotism which he said is not only inspirational but impactful.

‘I am short of words to appreciate FIFA agent, Chinyam, for his patriotism and commitment to supporting our youths to actualize their dreams in football.

‘These are opportunities we never had in our time. It definitely cost him so much to bring down these international scouts to look at our players.

‘Without a doubt, Chinyam is a shining light and worthy ambassador of Benue State who deserves commendation for the good work he is doing using his hard earned money,’ said Jekelle.

Train Crushes Tricycle Operator, Passenger To Death In Plateau

A train crushed a tricycle driver and a passenger to death around Phototake Abattoir Junction in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Wednesday.

The train was said to be traveling from Bukuru to Jos.

Daily Trust reports that two other passengers were critically injured in the accident.

The accident provoked members of the community as people around the scene of the incident pelted the train with stones. The train immediately moved after realizing the reaction of the people around.

Muhammad Ibrahim, an eyewitness , told Daily Trust that the incident occurred at 10am on Wednesday when the train coming from Bukuru and heading to Jos suddenly crushed the tricycle, instantly killing two persons at the scene while two women who were passengers were injured.

Another eyewitness, Jamilu Musa, while commenting on the incident, alleged that the absence of railroad crossing guards at the crossing gate was a major cause of the accident.

He said, ‘When the train was approaching, there was no gatekeeper at the railway crossing to stop vehicles and pedestrians. There was no barrier used to stop vehicles or signal that the train was approaching. This is very unfortunate because there was negligence on the part of the railway management.’

Some residents alleged that the gatekeepers were hardly seen at the railway crossing, noting that trains had been operating without officials stopping vehicles approaching railway tracks.

However, the spokesperson of Jos Railway Station, Adam Abdullahi, denied the allegation, saying the tricycle driver refused to stop when the train was passing, adding that a railroad crossing guard had tried to stop him, but he insisted on passing.

He said, ‘What happened was that at the level crossing, our official stopped him but he refused to stop. The train’s speed eventually caught the tricycle, causing the accident.’

Senate Suspends Ministerial Nominee’s Confirmation Over Security Clearance

The Senate on Wednesday suspended the confirmation of Kingsley Udeh (SAN) as minister following the absence of a mandatory security clearance.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the plenary, announced that the confirmation could not hold until the chamber received the required security report on the nominee.

‘The confirmation of the minister-nominee would have been next on the list, but we need security clearance,’ Akpabio told his colleagues.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, on Tuesday, requested the Senate to confirm Udeh, from Enugu State, as minister. The request was contained in a letter read by Akpabio during plenary.

The President said the nomination was made in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers him to appoint ministers subject to Senate confirmation.

Udeh’s nomination followed the resignation of Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down last month amid controversy over his academic credentials – including questions surrounding a degree allegedly obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Nnaji, the only cabinet member from Enugu State, resigned after mounting public pressure and calls for his replacement, leaving the state without representation in the Federal Executive Council.

After reading the President’s letter on Tuesday, Akpabio referred Udeh’s nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and further legislative action.

However, when the matter came up on the Order Paper on Wednesday, Akpabio announced that the confirmation would not proceed due to the pending clearance.

He hinted, however, that one of the senators had informed him that the nominee was already on his way to the National Assembly with the security clearance letter.

But Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central) cautioned against compromising institutional procedures, insisting that the Senate must not act outside established norms.

‘This is an institution. I have nothing against the young man; I know him. But let’s respect this institution. You can’t wait for the nominee because he’s coming with a security clearance letter. No, that’s not done,’ Ningi said.

In response, Akpabio clarified that the Senate had no intention of waiting indefinitely, saying, ‘I don’t even have any intention of waiting for anybody because after screening them, you don’t see them again.’

The Senate President then directed the Senate Leader to move a motion for a closed-door session to deliberate on ‘national issues.’ The motion was seconded, and the lawmakers subsequently dissolved into an executive session.

Firm Partners FG On $3bn Carbon Market Goal

OXYTANE Africa Investment Limited has expressed readiness to partner with the Federal Government to achieve Nigeria’s $3 billion annual carbon market target following the approval of the national carbon market framework and activation of the climate change fund.

The firm’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tamarankro Jjuliano Obriki, who disclosed this restated its commitment to helping the country reduce its carbon footprint and strengthen its environmental sustainability efforts.

He said the firm is already working with the National Environmental Safety and Regulatory Enforcement Agency (NESREA) to reduce industrial emissions through its tested solutions.

He added that it is also partnering with NNPC Retail Limited for nationwide distribution of the company’s fuel additive product.

He lauded President Tinubu for demonstrating leadership and commitment to the Paris Agreement by approving the national carbon market framework, describing the move as a major milestone toward decarbonizing Nigeria’s energy sector.

‘Nigeria remains 95 percent dependent on hydrocarbon-refined fuels like most developing nations, so it is imperative that certified emissions reductions are collated and traded as carbon credits to protect the environment and save lives,’ Obriki said.

Ex-NSA Abdullahi Mohammed Dies At 86

A former National Security Adviser (NSA), Abdullahi Mohammed, is dead.

He was 86 years old.

Sources told Daily Trust that Mohammed, a retired Major-General, who was the former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, died at about 1:00am Wednesday morning.

Family members, allies, associates and military officers familiar with the antecedents of the late General, described his death as a huge loss to Ilorin, the nation and the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The burial arrangements for the retired senior military officer, according to family sources, will be announced later in the day in line with Islamic rites.

‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. We lost Gen. Abdullah Muhammad Adangba (Atoto) around 1 a.m. today (Wednesday).

‘May Allah forgive his shortcomings, console us and his family, and grant him Aljannah. Ameen ya Rabb,’ a relative said in a message announcing his passage.

The late senior military officer, who was popularly known as Atoto, was born in Ilorin, Kwara State, in 1939.

He attended the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in the United Kingdom, and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1958.

Mohammed rose through the ranks to become Director of Military Intelligence and played a notable role in the 1975 coup that ousted General Yakubu Gowon and brought Murtala Mohammed to power.

Following the change of government, he was appointed Governor of Benue-Plateau State, a position he held from July 1975 to March 1976.

In March 1976, under General Olusegun Obasanjo’s military administration, he was appointed Director-General of the National Security Organisation (NSO), the forerunner of the present Department of State Services (DSS), a post he held until 1979.

After his retirement from the army that same year, he ventured into private business, becoming Managing Director of Atoto Press Limited in Ilorin.

In 1998, the late General was recalled to public service when he was appointed National Security Adviser by then Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a role he held until May 1999.

At the return of civilian rule, he was appointed Chief of Staff to President Olusegun Obasanjo, a position he retained under President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua until his resignation in June 2008.

Throughout his career, he was regarded as a disciplined officer, a trusted aide, and a silent power broker in Nigeria’s political and security landscape.

The Rise Of The Ram Touch Screen: How Tesla-Style Tech Is Taking Over Pickup Interiors

Just driving a Dodge RAM makes you look strong, powerful, and sure of yourself. But when it comes to the in-cabin experience, many RAM owners still rely on outdated infotainment systems that can’t match today’s modern tech standards.

That’s where the Ram touch screen upgrade comes in – a sleek, Tesla-style vertical display that completely transforms your dashboard and brings your truck into the future.

Why Dodge RAM Owners Are Upgrading Their Dashboards

For years, Dodge RAM trucks have ruled the roads for their muscle and reliability. Yet, even newer models sometimes feel behind the curve when it comes to tech.

Here’s why thousands of RAM owners are making the switch to advanced touchscreen systems:

1. Old Tech Meets Modern Needs

The stock Uconnect system works, but it can feel limited compared to what you get with modern touchscreens – laggy response, fewer customization options, and clunky interfaces.

2. Smartphone Integration Matters

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are no longer luxuries – they’re must-haves. With a Tesla-style display, you can mirror your favorite apps, navigate with ease, and access media hands-free.

3. Aesthetic and Functionality Upgrade

Nothing says ‘modern truck’ quite like a large, vertical touch display. It gives your dashboard that high-end, luxury EV feel while maintaining RAM’s rugged personality.

What Makes the Tesla-Style Ram Touch Screen Stand Out

When you install this screen, you’re not just getting a display – you’re upgrading your entire driving experience.

1. Massive Vertical Display

Inspired by Tesla’s iconic design, this screen offers a huge HD vertical interface that’s easy to navigate even on the go. Every app, camera view, and setting is just a tap away.

2. Plug-and-Play Installation

No need for complicated rewiring or modifications. The unit is designed to fit seamlessly into existing RAM dashboards, making installation fast and hassle-free.

3. Retains OEM Functions

You won’t lose the settings from the factory. The keys on the steering wheel, the audio and video controls, and the camera are all still there and work with both cars.

4. Lightning-Fast Performance

Powered by a robust Android system, this screen offers quick boot times, fluid touch response, and access to countless apps – from Spotify to Google Maps.

Bringing Smart Tech to the Toughest Trucks

Just because your RAM can tow, haul, and handle rugged terrain doesn’t mean it can’t have brains to match its brawn.

The Tesla-style touch screen for RAM trucks bridges that gap – giving you a vehicle that’s both powerful and intelligent.

Entertainment Without Limits

Stream your favorite music, watch videos (while parked), or sync with Bluetooth devices effortlessly. It’s your entertainment hub on wheels.

Enhanced Navigation and Connectivity

Forget external mounts or tangled cables. With built-in GPS and Wi-Fi support, you can navigate with real-time updates and stay connected wherever you go.

Customizable User Interface

Personalize your dashboard layout, themes, and shortcuts – because no two RAM owners are alike. You get full control over how your screen looks and behaves.

Safety and Hands-Free Features

Safety remains a top priority, and this upgrade doesn’t compromise that.

With integrated voice commands and steering-wheel controls, you can make calls, reply to texts, and adjust music – all without taking your eyes off the road.

Why Tesla-Style Screens Are Dominating the Market

Tesla changed how drivers interact with their vehicles. Now, RAM owners can enjoy the same futuristic experience without switching brands.

The sleek vertical interface instantly makes your cabin look more luxurious, giving it a look that was once only found in high-end electric cars.

Installation: Easier Than You Think

You don’t need to be a car tech expert to install one. The unit is plug-and-play, meaning all necessary harnesses and components are included.

Professional installers can have it up and running in just a few hours, or if you’re confident with DIY projects, you can follow the step-by-step guide that comes with the package.

Real-World Benefits You’ll Notice Right Away Why Choose MergeScreens

MergeScreens has earned a reputation for providing premium Tesla-style upgrades tailored to specific vehicle models – from Ford to Dodge.

Their screens are rigorously tested for fit, performance, and compatibility, ensuring you get a reliable product that enhances both functionality and appearance.

A Simple Upgrade That Feels Like a Whole New Truck

If you’ve ever wished your RAM had the same smart interface as newer EVs, this is the upgrade that makes it happen.

A Ram touch screen doesn’t just add flair – it gives your truck the intelligence it deserves.

Final Thoughts

Your Dodge RAM is already powerful – now, it’s time to make it smart.

Upgrading to a Tesla-style display modernizes your driving experience, boosts convenience, and future-proofs your truck for years to come.

Think of it as combining muscle with technology – a true upgrade for the modern driver.

Damagum Vs Anyanwu: PDP BoT Sets Up 6-Man Reconciliation Committee

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a six-man committee to reconcile the factions within the party.

The National Working Committee (NWC) is currently split into two factions headed by Ambassador Umar Damagum and Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed.

On Monday, the Abdulrahman faction supported by the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, took over the National Secretariat of the party.

In a communique issued after its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the BoT said as the ‘conscience of the party’, it can not and will not take sides, but would remain focused on safeguarding the integrity of the PDP and ensuring dialogue over discord.

He emphasised that the reconciliation move is not as a sign of weakness, but a demonstration of maturity and responsibility.

‘Against this backdrop, the BoT sets up a high-powered committee to immediately reconcile all conflicting sides and restore unity of purpose in our party as we head to the Elective National Convention in Ibadan.’

The communique gave the names of the committee members as

Amb. Hassan Adamu (North East), Chairman, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe (South South), Secretary, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (South East), Sen. Zaynab Kure (North Central), Prince Onyinlola Olagunsoye (South West) and Dr. Lubna Mohammed Gusau (North West).

Wabara mandated the Reconciliation Committee to report back to it on Tuesday, 11th November, 2025 for further action.

Part of the communique reaffirmed that the PDP remains a united, formidable and focused political party under the leadership of the Amb. Iliya Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC).

‘The BoT solidly stands with and commends the Amb. Iliya Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC), the PDP Governors Forum, the National Convention Organizing Committee and other critical Organs of the Party for their collective roles in stabilizing our Party, especially as we progress towards the conduct of the Elective National Convention scheduled to hold on the 15th and 16th of November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

‘The BoT welcomes the ruling of the Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice A L Akintola which affirmed the Constitutional right and liberty of our Party to manage its internal affairs including holding our 2025 Elective National Convention as scheduled. This landmark Ruling is victory to Democracy, Rule of Law and political development in our country.

‘The BoT however expresses worry over the recent developments within our ranks that have caused understandable concerns. The tensions, misunderstandings, and regrettable incidents that have played out in public including the invasion of our National Secretariat are not reflective of the ideals and character of the PDP. ‘

How Technology Is Helping Nigerians Travel Safely After Dark

Traveling at night has become a part of everyday life for many Nigerians. From delayed flights to long-distance bus trips that stretch into the late hours, countless travelers find themselves arriving in unfamiliar cities long after sunset. But what happens when you arrive at 11 p.m. – tired, hungry, and with no place to stay?

For many, this moment captures the hidden struggle of night travel in Nigeria – finding safe and affordable accommodation after dark.

The Hidden Challenges of Night Travel

Night travel isn’t just about movement; it’s about uncertainty.

Flights get delayed, roads become less safe, and by the time travelers reach their destination, most hotels are either fully booked or charge far above their normal rates.

‘I got to Abuja at 12:30 a.m. after a delayed flight, and every hotel I called said check-in was closed,’ says a frequent traveler from Lagos. ‘I ended up paying double for a small room just to get a few hours of rest.’

This experience is not unique. Across Nigeria, late-night arrivals often translate into high costs, limited options, and safety concerns, particularly for women, business travelers, and visitors unfamiliar with the city.

How Nigerians Are Coping

Some travelers now plan ahead by booking hotels near bus parks, airports, or event venues before setting out. Others rely on friends or family members for temporary lodging when they arrive late.

A growing number, however, are turning to technology for solutions. Mobile phones have become a lifeline – helping travelers find rides, accommodations, and food at odd hours.

Platforms that list available rooms in real-time are making a big difference. Many hotels have now started introducing ‘late-night deals’ – discounted rates for travelers arriving after regular check-in hours. This helps hotels fill otherwise empty rooms, while giving travelers access to safer, more affordable options when they need them most.

What to Do When You Arrive Late

If you ever find yourself in a new city at night – perhaps after a long road trip or a delayed flight – here are a few steps that can make your experience safer and less stressful:

Plan ahead: Try to book your hotel before your trip, especially if you know you’ll be arriving late.

Stay close to key locations: Choose hotels near airports, bus parks, event centers, churches, or conference halls to reduce your movement after dark.

Use trusted travel or accommodation apps: These platforms often show verified hotels and their real-time availability.

Check for late-night deals: Many hotels now offer discounted prices for same-day or after-hours bookings, which can save you up to 40% off normal rates.

Always share your location: Let someone know where you’re staying and when you’ve checked in, especially when traveling alone.

Technology Is Changing the Night Travel Experience

From ride-hailing services like Bolt and Uber to hotel booking websites that work around the clock, technology is gradually reducing the risks of being stranded at night.

With a smartphone and internet connection, a traveler can now:

* Compare hotel prices instantly

* View available rooms before arrival

* Pay securely without cash

* And, in many cases, enjoy discounted late-night rates

These digital tools are not just convenient – they’re redefining how Nigerians experience night travel, offering options that were once unavailable after business hours.

The Future of Safe Night Travel

As more Nigerians embrace mobility – for work, leisure, or family reasons – the need for reliable, safe night travel options will continue to grow.

Whether you’re arriving late from a wedding, a church convention, or a business trip, technology now provides several ways to avoid being stranded.

And while planning ahead remains the best option, it’s reassuring to know that many hotels across the country now offer flexible, affordable late-night deals for travelers who find themselves on the road after dark.
