Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has publicly called out an individual she says is impersonating her on Facebook and misleading millions of followers with fake posts and stories under her name.

The actress, in a strongly worded video shared on her Instagram page, revealed that the impersonator’s Facebook page amassed over 2.7 million followers using her photos and identity, deceiving the public into believing it is officially hers.

According to Iyabo Ojo, multiple attempts to report the fake page were unsuccessful after the impersonator changed the name from her real identity to ‘Iyabo Ojo Lovers’ to appear as a fan page, causing Facebook to overlook it.

In her words:

‘This video is directed to whoever it is that is impersonating me and using my name. It has 2.7 million followers on Facebook. I have tried to report this account to Facebook. This is not my page. Take my name off this page and my picture. because the next time you will look for this page, it will be gone.’

The actress expressed frustration over fake news being posted in her name, stressing that many fans often message her to confirm statements she never made.

She warned the impersonator to immediately stop using her identity, describing the act as ‘madness’ and ‘greed.’

A devastating tanker explosion has claimed the lives of 30 people, leaving about 40 others injured in Essan and Badeggi communities along the Bida-Agaie road in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.

The tragic tanker explosion incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, erupted after a tanker laden with petroleum products toppled and spilled its contents.

Eyewitnesses said scores of residents rushed to the scene to scoop fuel when the vehicle suddenly exploded, igniting a massive inferno that consumed dozens on the spot.

Channels TV reports that several victims were reportedly burnt beyond recognition, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Charred remains and burnt motorcycles littered the road as emergency responders struggled to contain the fire.

Chairman of the Niger State Tanker Drivers Association and National Ex-Officio of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade Farouk Kawo, described the tragedy as ‘devastating and avoidable.’

He revealed that the ill-fated tanker was transporting petrol from Lagos to the northern region when it lost control and crashed.

Kawo lamented the deplorable condition of the Bida-Agaie road, noting that more than 30 tanker accidents had occurred on the same route in October alone.

‘The road is in terrible shape, and this disaster could have been prevented. Unfortunately, some youths ignore repeated warnings and rush to scoop fuel whenever such accidents occur,’ he said.

He recalled a similar incident that occurred just two days earlier when a tanker carrying groundnut oil crashed in the same area, prompting residents to engage in the dangerous act of scooping the spilled product.

Efforts to reach the Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba-Arah, proved unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered at the time of filing this report.

Kawo appealed to Governor Umaru Bago to urgently rehabilitate the dilapidated Bida-Agaie road, warning that continued neglect could lead to more avoidable tragedies.

‘This loss is unbearable. Government intervention is no longer optional, it’s a matter of saving lives,’ Kawo stressed.

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Ajibade, also known as Mr Eazi, has opened up on his new career choice after getting married to Temi Otedola.

The artist on X responded to a fan who inquired about his career. The fan asked if Mr Eazi was still in the music industry.

‘Is @mreazi still a musician or now a content creator?,’ the fan wrote.

The artist responded, revealing that he plans to become a streamer.

Lead counsel to detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, has broken his silence from custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre after what he described as a ‘questionable court proceeding’ on Tuesday.

In a post shared on his official X page, Ejimakor said the Magistrate handling his case ‘refused to listen’ to the defence and ordered that he and his colleagues be remanded till Friday.

‘I am safe and sound but still under custody at Kuje prison. The Magistrate refused to listen to our submissions. He insisted on remanding us till Friday and got his way,’ he wrote.

Ejimakor further claimed that the authorities deliberately bypassed several Magistrate courts in Abuja to have the case heard in Kuje.

‘For context: keep in mind that they bypassed several Magistrate courts in town and headed to this one in Kuje,’ he added.

According to police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, eight individuals including Ejimakor and Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu were arrested for allegedly breaching a valid court order that banned protests near sensitive government sites.

Security forces reportedly used tear gas and water cannons to disperse demonstrators during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, which paralysed major roads across Abuja on Monday.

Reacting to the incident, Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga criticised Ejimakor’s participation, saying a lawyer whose client’s case is still before a court should not be ‘engaging in street protests.’

‘I spotted Aloy Ejimakor among the small group of protesters in Abuja. As a lawyer, he should be aware of the principle of sub judice,’ Onanuga wrote on X.

He added that regulatory bodies, including the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, have been urged to review Ejimakor’s conduct for possible sanctions.

Ejimakor’s detention has further intensified public outcry over Kanu’s prolonged incarceration, with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), civil rights groups, and international observers calling on the Federal Government to obey court rulings ordering the IPOB leader’s release.

A marketing technology expert and innovation strategist, Dr Nduneche Ezurike, has urged African brands to rethink the traditional customer journey and embrace a human-centred approach that prioritises people over profit in the evolving digital economy.

Presenting a paper titled ‘Reimagining the Customer Journey in the Age of Digital Acceleration’ at the ReThinkAI 2025 Global Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, Ezurike challenged long-standing corporate assumptions about brand dominance, calling instead for models that empower consumers as active co-creators of value.

The two-day virtual conference, organised by the International Academy of Science, Technology, Engineering and Management (IASTEM) in collaboration with ICLED Business School, Lagos, convened scholars, business leaders, and innovators from more than 20 countries to discuss AI’s expanding influence across marketing, education, fintech, and corporate innovation.

Introducing the concept of the Mecosystem, Ezurike described a future where consumers navigate complex, multi-platform environments-creating shared experiences through personalisation, peer influence, and digital collaboration.

‘Today’s customers don’t move in a straight line from awareness to purchase,’ he explained, adding that ‘They exist within algorithmic ecosystems where people, purpose, and platforms shape choices.’

He further introduced a new performance metric, Return on Failure (ROF), asserting that organisations should view failed experiments as opportunities for learning, innovation, and building consumer trust.

In her opening remarks, Ms Sripriya Sarathy, Chairperson of the conference, described ReThinkAI 2025 as a ‘global platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration that bridges academia, business, and technology in pursuit of sustainable innovation.’

She stressed the need to align ethics and empathy with technology to ensure a humane digital future.

Similarly, Prof Olajumoke Familoni, Provost of ICLED Business School, described Ezurike’s paper as timely, noting that ‘AI now shapes every sector of society, and empathy must remain central as we navigate digital transformation.’

Contributing to the dialogue, Dr Amila Gamage, Assistant Professor at LIGS University (USA), said the growing role of AI in education and business underscores the urgency for new forms of digital literacy and inclusive leadership.

The Cybersecurity and AI session track was voted the conference’s Best Session Track, while several scholars received awards for outstanding research contributions.

Other keynote speakers included Dr Ray Schroeder (USA) and Dr Mythili Kolluru (Oman), who both underscored the importance of ethical governance and accountability in the global adoption of artificial intelligence.

The Southwest Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has extended warm felicitations to the party’s founder and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, on the occasion of his 68th birthday, celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

In his congratulatory message, Ambassador Ajadi described Senator Kwankwaso as ‘a visionary leader, patriotic statesman, and tireless advocate of a new Nigeria built on justice, equity, and progress.’

‘Senator Kwankwaso’s political philosophy, anchored on people-centered governance and youth empowerment, has continued to inspire many of us in the New Nigeria People’s Party and beyond,’ Ajadi said. ‘His exemplary service to Nigeria, from his days as a deputy speaker to his tenure as a two-term governor of Kano State, and later as Minister of Defence, remains a model of purposeful leadership.’

He served as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives during the Third Republic, Governor of Kano State (1999-2003 and 2011-2015), and Minister of Defence (2003-2007) under President Olusegun Obasanjo. He later emerged as the presidential candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 general election, where his campaign emphasized national unity, education reform, and infrastructural development.

Ambassador Ajadi, who himself has consistently championed youth participation and good governance through his philanthropic and political engagements, reaffirmed his loyalty to the ideals of the NNPP under Kwankwaso’s leadership.

The Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja on Tuesday shifted the trial of Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on a six-count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime filed against her by the Federal Government to November 24.

The court presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, had initially fixed yesterday, Monday, 20th October for the commencement of trial of Akpoti-Uduaghan,

But the court could not sit because of the protest organised by Mr Omoyele Sowore to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Justice Umar ‘s court, at the third floor of the high-rise building, was under lock and key on Monday as court activities were crippled.

The matter was, however, fixed for Nov. 24 when activities at the court resumed on Tuesday.

The judge had, on Sept. 22, fixed today for the hearing after the trial was stalled owing to an objection raised by the defendant.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was arraigned on June 30 on a six-count charge filed by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), Mohammed Abubakar.

She was granted bail, following which Justice Umar adjourned till Sept. 22 for the commencement of trial.

However on the last adjourned date when the prosecuting lawyer, David Kaswe, was about to open his case by calling the 1st witness, the defence lawyer raised an objection.

The development was after a television screen had been mounted in the courtroom preparatory to the commencement of proceedings.

The defence lawyer, Ehiogie West-Idahosa, SAN, had expressed concern about the possibility of the prosecution opening its case.

West-Idahosa told the court that a notice of preliminary objection to challenge the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case had already been filed.

He said the objection is not to the nature of the charge, but the alleged abuse of the prosecutorial powers of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

The lawyer also complained about not being served with copies of the statements of the prosecution witnesses.

Although Kaswe argued that the objection filed by the defendant should not be allowed to stall the court’s business for the day, Justice Umar insisted that the prosecution must first respond to the objection.

The judge said he intended to first determine the objection raised by the defence before taking any further steps in the case.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, in the charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025, is alleged to have transmitted false and injurious information via electronic means with the intention to malign, incite and endanger lives and breach public order.

The senator was alleged to have, while addressing a gathering on April 4 in Ihima, Kogi State, accused the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of instructing ex-Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi to have her killed in the state.

She was also alleged to have, in a television interview, repeated similar claims, to the effect that the Senate president and former governor plotted to kill her in Kogi.

The charge is brought under the Cybercrimes Prohibition, Prevention, etc (Amendment) Act 2024.

The All Progressives Congress, APC on Tuesday announced cash rewards for the polling unit, ward and Local Government with highest record of registered voters in the ongoing INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Lagos State.

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Lagos State APC Chairman, announced this at the 2025 at the Stakeholders Forum of the party held on Tuesday in Lagos.

The APC chairman, who applauded party loyalists for the support for the party, urged party leaders in polling units, wards and local governments to mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

‘Today’s meeting affords us the opportunity to reflect on our performance in the past two years, to know where we are and how fast we need to move to reach out target.

‘We are placing a N1 million for the polling unit with the highest registrations in the ongoing INEC’s CVR, while 5 million will be given to the ward that records the highest.

‘The local government recording the highest number will be given the sum of N20 million. So, the competition has started,’ Ojelabi said.

The party chairman urged party leaders at various levels to mobilise people in all corners of the state to participate in the exercise.

He urged them to ensure people get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote in 2027.

According to him, no matter the love anyone has for the party, without PVC, no supporter will be able to vote during elections.

While urging party leaders to work in unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ojelabi said that the party would soon begin a tour of all LGAs.

He said: ‘I enjoin you to get more involved and continue to make more meaningful impact on the people, your regions, local governments, and communities.

‘I am proud of you for standing by the party in our resolve to pull the Nigerian government on track.

‘Since we do not have any other country, our approach of confronting problems with the right attitude is the best for a lasting solution.

‘Our party is the darling of the nation. We appreciate the trust and loyalty for APC. We cherish the love for the party ; we don’t take this for granted.

Noting that the President Bola Tinubu had been working hard to reposition the country’s economy, Ojelabi charged party loyalists to spread the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the people at the grassroots.

Speaking, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who was represented by the APC National Secretary, Dr Ajibola Basiru, said that the National Working Committee (NWC) was working hard to make APC the party of choice in Nigeria.

Yilwatda emphasised the need for APC leaders to work hard to ensure at least 85 per cent voter turnout in 2027 general elections.

According to him, the party has fixed for Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 for the South West ‘train the trainer’ programme to educate citizens on the progress made so far by the ruling party.

Speaking on Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Election in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy, a former Lagos governor,Mr Babatunde Fashola, said that the party must interrogate the reason for decreasing votes during elections.

Fashola said: ‘We are facing increasing voter registration and decreasing voter turnout. I think that is not good for us. We should interrogate why the turnout is decreasing.

‘We used to be the party with the highest total votes. What has happened? Why have the votes dropped.?

The former governor recalled that at a time, Lagos turned out about 1.5m votes while the closest rival was around 300,000 saying ‘where are our traditional voters?’.

He said that political party participation is based on enthusiasm.

‘Hope is not lost, therefore we will turn our renewed hope to renewed enthusiasm,’ he added.

Various dignitaries, including Rep. Dolapo Badru (Lagos State Caucus Leader of the House of Representatives) and Sen. Tokunbo Abiru (Lagos State Caucus Leader in the Senate) highlighted the various achievements of the Federal Government in the last two years.

Also speaking at the forum, federal cabinet members, including Minister of Education; Dr Tunji Alausa, his counterpart in the Ministry of Trade and Investment; Dr Olajumoke Oduwole, highlighted the President’s achievements in education, trade and other sectors.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, has been called up to Portugal’s Under-16 national team for the first time after impressing with strong performances in Saudi Arabia.

The 15-year-old, who currently plays for Al-Nassr’s youth side alongside his father, was included in a 22-man squad for the upcoming Federations Cup Tournament, where Portugal will face Turkey, Wales, and England from October 30 to November 4.

Ronaldo Jr’s latest achievement comes just months after he featured for Portugal’s U-15 team in May, a development that has reignited talks of him possibly sharing the pitch with his famous father someday. However, that seems unlikely, as Ronaldo Sr will turn 41 in February.

The son of President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, has reacted to the claims that he donated a sum of N20million to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins after she was harassed for cooking on the street.

Seyi, in a statement, revealed that he was not involved in such donation. He, however, added that his friends were behind the donation, stating that they were moved by compassion.

‘Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law. I appreciate their kindness and concern,’ he stated.

He also emphasised the need for citizens and residents to abide by the laws of the state.

‘That said, I must emphasise that while their hearts were in the right place, I do not support any act that violates the laws of Lagos State. Lagos thrives on order, and Nigeria’s strength depends on our collective respect for both our law and order. Empathy and patriotism must always go together,’ Seyi wrote
