2027: We’ll give you more than 60 percent votes, APC women tell Tinubu

Women across the country have declared their readiness to deliver more than 60 per cent of the votes needed to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

According to them, Nigerian women had resolved to stand firmly behind the President and mobilise support from the grassroots to ensure the continuation of the Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that the APC remained on course for another electoral victory.

Mary Alile, the National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who said this on Wednesday during the launch of Project 774 Explode, a nationwide grassroots mobilisation and women empowerment initiative organised by the party at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), Akure, however, declared that there is ‘no vacancy’ in Aso Rock ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The APC National Women leader said; ‘there is no vacancy in Aso Rock, the women of this country are ready to vote, and if women do not vote, nobody wins. We are prepared to return Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

‘In total, women will account for more than 60 per cent of the votes for Mr President. The APC family will win the next election without any doubt because Nigerians are already witnessing the benefits of the bold reforms being implemented by this administration.’

According to her, President Tinubu deserves another four-year mandate because he has demonstrated courage in implementing difficult but necessary economic reforms aimed at rebuilding the nation’s economy and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

She cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the administration’s landmark achievements, saying the scheme has opened the doors of higher education to thousands of indigent students across the country.

‘For the first time, students can access government-backed loans to pursue higher education. That policy must be sustained because it offers hope to young Nigerians and reinforces education as the bedrock of national development,’ she said.

Alile also listed reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, local government autonomy, investment promotion and security as evidence of the administration’s determination to reposition Nigeria for long-term prosperity.

She commended the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing it as a life-changing intervention that has positively impacted women, youths, farmers, students and other vulnerable groups nationwide.

The APC National Woman Leader equally praised Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for what she described as his unwavering commitment to women empowerment and grassroots development.

She noted that the governor’s OUR EASE Agenda had translated into practical interventions through grants, business support schemes and skills acquisition programmes that have improved the livelihoods of women across the state.

‘The women of Ondo State are happy because they are experiencing purposeful governance. Governor Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated that empowering women is central to economic development through deliberate policies and targeted interventions,’ she said.

Describing Project 774 Explode as more than an empowerment programme, Alile said the initiative was designed to deepen grassroots participation, strengthen APC structures in all the 774 local government areas and encourage more women and young people to actively participate in politics and governance.

She disclosed that beneficiaries of the empowerment programme were drawn from different communities across the state, irrespective of political affiliation, urging them to invest the grants in productive ventures capable of transforming their lives and creating wealth.

She also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders and community leaders to mentor and encourage more women to seek elective and appointive offices.

‘As we launch Project 774 Explode today, let it be seen not merely as another programme but as a movement that strengthens grassroots democracy, empowers women, inspires our youths and expands the frontiers of democratic inclusion across Nigeria.

‘Together, let us continue to build a stronger APC. Together, let us continue to empower women. Together, let us continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda. By the grace of God, we shall record even greater victories for our party and our nation,’ she said.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting gender equality and increasing women’s participation in governance.

Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, Aiyedatiwa said no society could achieve sustainable development while excluding women from leadership and decision-making, describing Project 774 Explode as a timely initiative that aligns with his administration’s vision of inclusive governance.

He applauded the APC National Woman Leader for bringing the initiative to Ondo State, saying it would further encourage women to take advantage of opportunities in politics, public service and entrepreneurship.

He urged women to embrace leadership with confidence by investing in education, acquiring relevant skills, building strong networks and upholding integrity.

‘Our administration will continue to create an enabling environment where women can thrive because inclusive governance produces stronger institutions, better policies and sustainable development outcomes,’ he said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Seun Osamaye, said the financial grants presented to beneficiaries would help many women become self-reliant and expand their businesses.

She said the Aiyedatiwa administration remained committed to improving the welfare and economic fortunes of women through empowerment programmes under the OUR EASE Agenda.

Osamaye stressed that beneficiaries were selected based on merit and community impact rather than political affiliation.

‘The grants presented today will enable many beneficiaries to become self-reliant and expand their businesses. Many are hardworking grassroots entrepreneurs who have now been given an opportunity to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Ondo State,’ she said.
