Anchor University, a faith-based tertiary institution, on Tuesday inaugurated its third Governing Council to drive the next phase of growth.

The board of trustees (BoT) of the Institution recently formulated a 10-year (2026 – 2036) strategic roadmap for Anchor University, for the rapid growth and development of the university.

Top most on the agenda would be the relocation of the Institution to its permanent site near the Deeper Life International Conference Centre (DLICC), Mowe, Ogun State.

‘The Governing Council will receive these documents and pursue their passionate implementation to ensure full realisation,’ Obinna Nkemjika, chairman, board of trustees (BoT), Anchor University, said at the inuaguration held at the Senate Chambers of the Institution.

According to him, Anchor University witnessed a remarkable growth in both students and infrastructure development in the last five years, since the BoT came on board.

‘During this period, student enrollment has grown from about 600 to over 2,700, as new courses and departments were created,’ Nkemjika said.

Anchor University, Lagos, is a faith-based tertiary institution owned by the Deeper Life Bible Church, which prioritises building the lives of both students and staff through love and scriptural examples from leadership.

Nkemjika added that the decisions of the council will provide direction to the university management in its daily administrative duties.

‘As we welcome you to the governance of the university, we wish to remind you that the Governing Council is the key organ of the university charged with taking strategic decisions for the smooth running and advancement of the university.’

Joel Babatunde Babalola, newly inaugurated pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Anchor University, said the council will leverage collaboration in making the institution competitive.

According to him, both students and academic staff will work collaboratively to provide local solutions to national challenges.

‘With collaboration, we’ll be able to create things in Nigeria and solve problems locally. So, we believe that with God, all things are possible,’ Babalola said.
