Life Camp, once known as a settlement for workers who helped build Nigeria’s capital city, has transformed into one of Abuja’s established residential addresses, according to Ikyoon Samuel, chief executive officer of Beviks Realty Limited.
Samuel said the neighbourhood’s evolution reflects the broader growth of the Federal Capital Territory, with Life Camp now attracting families, professionals, property buyers and investors seeking long-term value.
‘Life Camp’s transformation is a reflection of Abuja’s own journey. An area that was once associated with the workers who built the capital has now become a location where a new generation of residents and investors are seeking to build their futures,’ Samuel, who is also an engineer said.
He said the evolution of Life Camp demonstrated how areas that played important roles during the construction of Abuja had gradually developed into established residential and investment locations.
‘Life Camp has moved beyond its original identity. Today, it is a community with established residential developments, supporting infrastructure and growing interest from people who want to live, invest and build long-term assets in Abuja,’ he said.
According to Samuel, improved infrastructure and connectivity have also contributed to the neighbourhood’s growing attractiveness within Abuja’s property market.
‘The location remains one of the key advantages of Life Camp. As Abuja continues to expand and connectivity improves, established neighbourhoods such as Life Camp become increasingly important to both homeowners and investors,’ he said.
He said the changing profile of Life Camp had created opportunities for developers to introduce residential projects that respond to the needs of modern homebuyers.
One such project, he said, is Gidan Daraja, a four-bedroom terrace duplex development with boys’ quarters being developed by Beviks Realty Limited adjacent to Berger Clinic in Life Camp.
‘Gidan Daraja represents Beviks Realty’s effort to participate in the next phase of Life Camp’s development by combining the neighbourhood’s location and established character with a focus on functional, sustainable and environmentally conscious residential living,’ Samuel said.
He said the project was part of Beviks Realty’s broader vision to develop eco-friendly communities across Africa.
‘We are looking beyond simply putting up buildings. We want to create residential communities that are functional, comfortable and conscious of their environmental impact,’ Samuel said.
According to him, Gidan Daraja incorporates natural lighting, balconies in every room, double-wall separation, an installed 5KVA inverter and one year of maintenance.
The development also includes green areas, recycled-plastic interlocking paving, central water infrastructure and central sewage with a digester.
‘These are features that respond to the realities of modern living. Residents are concerned about power, ventilation, water, waste management, comfort and the quality of the environment around their homes,’ he said.
Samuel added that the development was designed to address the needs of families through private outdoor spaces, master bedrooms on all floors, parking, drainage, fencing and controlled access.
‘People are no longer looking at housing only as a structure. They want a home that provides comfort, security, functionality and value over time,’ he said.
He said Gidan Daraja could also appeal to Nigerians in the diaspora and domestic buyers seeking property in an established Abuja neighbourhood.
