After more than two decades of professional experience spanning advertising, branding, corporate communications and public relations, Ben Mamedu is bringing a wealth of industry knowledge and practical expertise to the newly established BrandZeal Media Limited, positioning the emerging company to compete meaningfully in Nigeria’s dynamic media and communications landscape.
Mamedu spent a significant part of his professional career driving public relations and communications activities within the insurance and broader financial services industry. His experience in an industry where trust, reputation, stakeholder engagement and effective communication are critical has provided him with an understanding of how organisations can build, protect and strengthen their brands in competitive markets.
Now retired from the underwriting industry, Mamedu has chosen to channel this accumulated experience into BrandZeal Media Limited, a new company established to provide advertising, branding, event management and related communications services across sectors.
The launch of BrandZeal followed the inaugural meeting of its Board of Directors, during which the company’s Certificate of Incorporation was formally presented to the Fidelis Ethuakhor, chairman, an engineer, who also serves as chairman of NOG Marines Limited.
Speaking on the company’s take-off, Mamedu, who is the executive director/COO, described BrandZeal as an idea whose time has come. According to him, the company is set to deliver top-notch advertising, branding and event management services capable of transcending industry boundaries.
One of the critical assets Mamedu brings to BrandZeal is his understanding of the relationship between corporate reputation and business performance.
Having worked within financial services, including insurance and health management, he has operated in environments where communication is not merely about publicity but about building confidence among customers, regulators, investors, employees and other stakeholders.
That experience can be particularly valuable to BrandZeal as it seeks to serve organisations across different sectors. Rather than approaching branding as simply the creation of logos, advertisements or promotional materials, the company’s leadership can draw on years of exposure to corporate communications to develop strategies that connect an organisation’s identity with its reputation, objectives and target audiences.
His background also gives the new company an appreciation of the importance of consistency, credibility and strategic communication, qualities that are increasingly important as businesses compete for attention in an overcrowded marketplace.
From Corporate Communications to Integrated Brand Solutions. The media and advertising industry has evolved considerably, with organisations now expected to communicate across multiple platforms while maintaining a consistent brand identity.
This changing environment presents an opportunity for BrandZeal to combine traditional advertising and public relations expertise with contemporary branding, media and event management solutions.
Mamedu’s professional journey provides a foundation for such an integrated approach. His experience in corporate communications can help the company understand not only what a client wants to communicate, but why it needs to be communicated, who needs to hear it and how the message can be positioned effectively.
BrandZeal Media Limited is also supported by a seven-member Board of Directors drawn from the oil and gas, financial services, media and healthcare sectors.
Speaking after the inaugural board meeting, Ethuakhor assured the directors and stakeholders of his commitment to providing the necessary support to enable BrandZeal to meet and exceed the expectations of its clients.
His experience as Chairman of NOG Marines Limited also adds a corporate and business dimension to the company’s leadership structure.
For a newly incorporated media company, competing successfully will require more than establishing a presence in the market. It will require the ability to understand clients’ businesses, anticipate communication challenges and translate corporate objectives into compelling brand experiences.
