Adedamola Gbenga, the National Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria has charged volunteers of the organisation to strengthen community-based safe school frameworks to protect children and build resilient communities across Nigeria.
Gbenga gave the charge at the opening of the 4th National Camp of Man O’ War Nigeria at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) on Wednesday in Jos, Plateau State, where participants from across the country gathered for the week-long programme.
He said the camp, themed ‘Strengthening Community-Based Safe School Frameworks for a Secure and Resilient Nigeria,’ was designed to strengthen volunteers, renew their commitment to national service, build leadership capacity and prepare the organisation for greater responsibilities.
‘Our SSAPT Coordinators are therefore being positioned as important human resources in our collective effort to support safer learning environments across Nigeria,’ he said.
The National Commander said the Safe School Awareness and Preparedness Training (SSAPT) Coordinators would receive training in safeguarding and child protection, early warning and response, emergency preparedness, security awareness, school risk management, community mobilisation and resilience building.
‘Let every SSAPT Coordinator return home with a renewed determination to protect children, strengthen our schools and contribute to the safety and resilience of our communities,’ Gbenga said.
He said Man O’ War Nigeria would continue to strengthen the SSAPT initiative and partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, security and emergency management organisations and development partners, while urging volunteers to uphold the organisation’s core values of discipline, leadership, service, patriotism and volunteerism.
