The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a motorist who was reportedly attacked by a mob following a road traffic accident in Karsana District, Abuja.
The incident occurred on Sunday, with police operatives deployed to the area after receiving reports of mob action involving the motorist.
Ani Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying the intervention of the police prevented the situation from escalating.
According to Police, operatives responded swiftly to the scene of the accident after the motorist came under attack from members of the mob.
It said the officers succeeded in rescuing the motorist and moving the individual to a place of safety, while normalcy was subsequently restored in the area.

‘The motorist was rescued from the mob and taken to safety. Normalcy was restored in the area,’ it stated.
It added that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abuja, had commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police did not disclose the identity of the motorist or provide further details on the circumstances of the road crash that triggered the mob action.
In a separate operation on Monday, the FCT Police Command also arrested three suspected vandals allegedly caught destroying public infrastructure along 3 Constitution Avenue, Abuja.
The Police said the suspects were apprehended by police operatives conducting surveillance in the area as part of a disguised patrol.
According to the statement, the operatives observed the suspects allegedly engaged in the destruction of public infrastructure before moving in to arrest them.
The three suspects were subsequently taken into police custody for questioning and further investigation.
The police said the SCID, Abuja, had taken over the case to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged vandalism.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting public infrastructure and preventing criminal activities within the FCT, while urging residents to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The two incidents, according to the police, underscore the importance of prompt security intervention in preventing road-related disputes from escalating into mob violence and in protecting critical public infrastructure from criminal activities.
