West Indies batter Brandon King is unlikely to open the batting in the second innings against Pakistan after picking up an injury while fielding on Tuesday’s third day.
King pulled off a superb fielding effort to run out Babar Azam with a direct hit from cover, but was in obvious discomfort and remained on the ground for some time before eventually being stretchered off.
In giving an update Cricket West Indies (CWI) said following medical assessments, King was experiencing lower back muscle spasms.
‘He is currently being monitored and evaluated by the team’s medical staff. As a precaution, the batter will not return to the field for the remainder of today’s play,’ it said in a statement.
