GUYANA-CRIME-Opposition legislator resigns amidst police probe into rape allegations

A member of the main opposition, We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) has confirmed his resignation from the National Assembly, but insists that his ‘resignation should not be construed as an admission of wrongdoing or as a determination of guilt’.

The police have not officially commented on the allegations made against Dr Andre Lewis, who said he had taken ‘this decision in light of allegations that have been made against me and the ongoing investigation into those allegations.
