President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Azerbaijan Louise Morsing on September 23.

The Ambassador presented her credentials to the head of state.

President Ilham Aliyev held a conversation with the Ambassador.

Expressing hope that the successful development of bilateral relations will continue and new areas of cooperation will be identified in the coming years, the head of state highlighted the importance of mutual visits and meetings at various levels in this regard and noted good opportunities for partnership in the investment, trade, and business sectors.

President Ilham Aliyev wished the Ambassador success in her diplomatic activity.

Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the reception, the Ambassador emphasized that she would make every effort to further expand bilateral relations.

The Ambassador conveyed her congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the progress achieved in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. She also noted that she welcomes the steps taken toward building trust between the two countries.

Stating that a large number of Azerbaijani students study in Sweden and that their academic level is highly appreciated, the Ambassador expressed hope that these students will contribute to the development of Azerbaijan-Sweden relations during their future careers.

Louise Morsing also touched upon the positive dynamics in relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union, emphasizing in this context that negotiations on the bilateral agreement have resumed.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine.

Touching upon the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan was the initiator and author of the peace agenda, characterizing the peace achieved between the two countries as unprecedented in the world.

Noting that Azerbaijan-European Union relations are currently very good, the head of state recalled the visits to Azerbaijan this year by President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, as well as his meetings with them on the sidelines of international events.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sweden, and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Iran highly praised Azerbaijan’s efforts to protect the Caspian Sea environment during its chairmanship of the relevant convention.

According to Iran’s Department of Environment, the organization’s deputy head, Ahmadreza Lahijan-Zadeh, made the remarks on Wednesday at the seventh meeting of the convention in Tehran.

He noted that the sixth meeting on the protection of the Caspian Sea environment was held in Baku five years ago, adding that significant efforts had been made over the past five years to advance the convention’s objectives.

Lahijan-Zadeh also highlighted the importance of cooperation among Caspian littoral states under the Ramsar Convention in protecting wetlands and migratory birds around the Caspian Sea.

He stressed that developing cooperation and sharing experience in wetland and migratory bird protection could help strengthen regional cooperation and promote coordinated protection of the Caspian Sea ecosystem.

“Caspian countries can take important steps toward environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources by sharing their expertise and experience,” the official added.

On 23 September, Azerbaijan’s newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland, Fuad Isgandarov, presented a copy of his credentials to Marcin Bosacki, State Secretary at Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Poland told the media that the presentation was followed by a meeting between Isgandarov and Bosacki.

The sides discussed issues on the agenda of Azerbaijan-Poland bilateral relations and prospects for developing cooperation in political, economic, trade, humanitarian and other fields.

Bosacki congratulated Isgandarov on his appointment as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland and wished him success in his diplomatic activities.

He also said that Poland attaches particular importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and to elevating them to the level of a genuine strategic partnership based on mutual respect, trust and shared interests and encompassing all areas of cooperation.

Bosacki also highlighted Poland’s interest in participating in reconstruction and redevelopment projects being carried out in Karabakh as part of efforts to expand economic cooperation, stressing the importance Warsaw attaches to developing cooperation in this area.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda and discussed other matters of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov attended a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said this in a post on its official X account.

‘The reception comes at a time when Azerbaijan-US partnership is expanding following the Washington Summit held on August 8 and the signing of the Strategic Partnership Charter.

‘We look forward to further strengthening cooperation, including in the areas of coordination, energy, trade and investment,’ the ministry said.

A delegation led by European People’s Party (EPP) Secretary-General Dolors Montserrat will visit Armenia on September 24 and stay in the country until September 28.

The visit has been confirmed by an order issued by Armenian National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan regarding the organization of the delegation’s trip.

The delegation will be received by Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Armenian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

The visit comes amid Armenia’s efforts to deepen cooperation with the European Union and strengthen political ties with European institutions.

In March 2025, Armenia’s parliament passed a law launching the process of the country’s accession to the European Union. In late August 2026, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan intends to officially submit an EU membership application in the near future.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan, Armenian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Arsen Avagyan said at an event marking the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, according to Turkmenportal.

Avagyan said the visit would create additional opportunities for continuing political dialogue and developing practical cooperation between Armenia and Turkmenistan.

Earlier in September, Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during which the Turkmen leader invited the Armenian prime minister to attend the CIS Heads of State Summit scheduled to take place under Turkmenistan’s chairmanship on October 9.

Pashinyan, in turn, invited Berdimuhamedov to attend a leaders’ summit scheduled to be held in Yerevan in October, ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).

Murat Yalçintas, General Manager of the Turkish Armed Forces Assistance Fund (OYAK), met with economy journalists at a press conference in Istanbul yesterday.

Yalçintas provided assessments of OYAK’s operations, financial performance and strategies for the coming period, saying that the group continues to grow through a long-term investment approach at a time when uncertainties in the global economy, trade tensions and geopolitical risks persist.

Yalçintas said one of OYAK’s most important strategic moves in 2026 was its investment in Tekfen Holding, recalling that a 42.8% stake in Tekfen Holding was transferred to ON Investment B.V., in which OYAK holds a majority of the capital. Yalçintas stressed that the investment was not merely a growth step that added new areas of activity to the portfolio. He said Tekfen’s international experience in engineering, procurement and construction would contribute to the areas in which OYAK aims to expand in the future.

“The Tekfen Holding investment is a strategic step that complements our existing industrial ecosystem, provides OYAK with new capabilities and supports the portfolio transformation we are carrying out in line with our 2030 Vision. With the Tekfen investment, we are strengthening this vision and supporting our growth with new capabilities. This investment will create strategic value beyond scale,” Yalçintas said.

Asked about reports that executives from Saudi Arabia-based energy company Saudi Aramco had visited Trkiye and inspected GzelEnerji facilities, one of OYAK Group’s subsidiaries, in Aliaga, Samsun and Gebze, Yalçintas confirmed, without naming the company, that they were conducting talks on a strategic partnership in the energy sector.

“There is a strategic partnership discussion we are conducting with one of the world’s largest energy giants. We believe that the picture will become clear by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. This is an important building block in OYAK’s multinational structure. Our vision is to transform OYAK into a transnational company,” he said.

Yalçintas said efforts to establish strategic partnerships in the energy sector were continuing, emphasizing that the number of TotalEnergies and Milangaz stations had reached 1,055, while GzelEnerji’s consolidated revenue in the first half of the year amounted to 112.3 billion Turkish liras.

Yalçintas said OYAK operates with 189 companies in 30 countries, including Trkiye, and has a broad range of activities spanning mining and metallurgy, cement, automotive, logistics, energy, chemicals, agriculture, financial services and food.

He said OYAK’s consolidated revenue reached 418 billion Turkish liras in the first half of the year, while its consolidated net profit rose 66% to 83 billion liras. Its consolidated assets also increased by 31% to 1.847 trillion liras, Yalçintas said.

Yalçintas noted that Renault maintained its leadership in Trkiye’s passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, adding that MAIS achieved a 13.9% market share with sales of 100,256 vehicles in the first eight months of the year.

OYAK is also closely monitoring infrastructure investments in Trkiye and abroad, particularly bridges and highways.

“We are following Africa. The future of the world is in Africa. There are natural resources. Africa offers extremely significant opportunities in logistics for the production and transportation of these resources,” OYAK General Manager Murat Yalçintas said.

OYAK plans to take more of its companies public in the coming years. Yalçintas also said that initial public offerings are part of OYAK’s portfolio transformation and growth strategy.

Williams heads into the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with hopes of continuing its progress, while the characteristics of the Baku City Circuit could work in the team’s favour.

Alex Albon pointed to the track’s medium- and low-speed corners as one of the reasons for his confidence ahead of the race weekend. Williams has generally been competitive at the circuit in previous years, while the absence of many long corners removes one of the areas where the car tends to struggle.

The British-Thai driver also highlighted the development work carried out by Williams during the season. The team has introduced several changes aimed at improving the car’s balance and extracting more performance, although Albon acknowledged that the process has required considerable effort.

Williams is now looking to close the gap to Red Bull, Alpine and Haas. The team has been some distance behind those rivals in recent races, meaning further progress will be necessary if Williams is to challenge them more consistently.

Albon remains hopeful that the improvements made to the car can help the team produce another solid performance at a circuit where Williams has previously shown good pace.

The 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held at the Baku City Circuit from September 24 to 26. The weekend will feature two practice sessions on Thursday, followed by final practice and qualifying on Friday, while the 51-lap Grand Prix will take place on Saturday at 15:00 local time.

The United States-led Board of Peace will unveil a recovery plan for the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Axios reported after obtaining a copy of the document.

The plan allegedly includes 66 infrastructure and security projects worth a total of $2.5 billion, although only part of the funds has been secured so far.

According to the report, the infrastructure projects include the removal of rubble, road and hospital repairs, temporary housing, as well as small business grants and a Gaza investment fund.

Security projects are set to include a site to house the peacekeeping International Stabilization Force, a Hamas weapon buyback program and support for the Palestinian police. However, the report stressed that the plan will depend on Hamas and Israel’s political will.

The Board of Peace, launched by U.S. President Donald Trump, has 26 founding member countries, chaired by the United States.
