LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The High Court in Lilongwe has stopped police from re-arresting 10 suspects linked to recent political violence.
The court’s decision follows an application by the suspects’ lawyers seeking judicial review of the State’s conduct.
The legal team argued that the police had continued to re-arrest the suspects despite bail orders issued by various magistrates’ courts.
They asked the High Court to grant permission for judicial review, to bar police from further arrests, and to suspend all criminal cases already filed.
Judge Howard Pemba granted the suspects leave to commence judicial review proceedings.
He also issued an injunction restraining the police from carrying out any further arrests.
In his ruling, Judge Pemba stated: “If there is any additional criminal charges against the applicants, let them be prosecuted without any further arrests.”
However, the judge declined the request to stay the ongoing criminal cases currently before the lower courts.
Lawyer George Kadzipatike confirmed that the injunction had been granted and that the police had already been served with the order.
Kadzipatike described the development as a critical test of institutional respect for the rule of law.
He stressed that any continued detention of his clients beyond today would signal a serious governance problem.
He said: “If our clients continue to be in custody beyond today, the nation should know that we now have a big problem in terms of rule of law.”
The case is expected to attract significant public attention as judicial review proceedings begin.

Christian influencer Allie Beth Stuckey clapped back at Candace Owens’ claims that she doesn’t care about who murdered Charlie Kirk — and that the right-wing activist’s murder was an “inside job.”
Stuckey — who has been identified by the Wall Street Journal as a possible successor for Kirk to helm his non-profit, Turning Point USA (TPUSA) — addressed Owens’ recent claim that she was not “worried” about bringing Kirk’s killer to justice. (Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. He Was 31. Two days later, Tyler Robinson was identified as the shooter and taken into police custody.)
“I wasn’t going to respond to Candace publicly, but I was genuinely hurt by her accusation that I don’t care about who killed Charlie because I expressed concern for the lives of people who have been implicated in her series on CK’s murder,” Stuckey, 33, wrote via X on Wednesday, November 12, alongside a video from her “Relatable” podcast.
Stuckey fired back at Owens, 36, writing, “That couldn’t be further from the truth. Charlie was my friend. He encouraged me, prayed for me, championed me and gave me advice when I needed it. We linked arms for the gospel, and I miss that so much. I very much care about justice for him.”
She continued: “But you know who cares about justice for Charlie far more than any of us? His family. His friends and colleagues who were with him every day.”
Stuckey said that she “trusts” that Kirk’s inner circle are “asking the right questions to the right people in the right way” while looking into Kirk’s assassination.
She said she has hope they are “doing so in a manner that doesn’t stir up suspicion against innocent people. In a way that doesn’t hinder the actual investigation into who was involved in Charlie’s murder.”
Stuckey noted, “I want to see due process play out uninhibited,” seemingly slamming Owens’ choice to allegedly point the finger at people without thinking about the consequences.
“And, yes, I do feel deeply for those who have been unfairly maligned by implications of guilt. That’s really scary, serious, and wrong,” Stuckey continued. “Most of all, I care about how Christians seek truth.”
She claimed that “Just asking questions,” which is what she said Owens has been doing on her YouTube series investigating the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death “isn’t a justification for slander.”
“The God who created us and weighs our words has a lot to say about how we speak and what we seek,” Stuckey added.
Stuckey further detailed her issue with Owens alleging on her YouTube series that she wasn’t “worried” about Kirk, by claiming they don’t have the same resources.
“I can’t compete with secret sources. Candace has referenced unnamed sources that she has in the government and within Turning Point,” Stuckey alleged. “I do not have secret sources. … Charlie has not come to me in a dream.”
Owens previously wrote via X on October 19 that she thinks “Charlie was betrayed. By everyone.” She also claimed that his murder was “an inside job.”
“I think it’s really serious when we bring these things to the table,” Stuckey said on her podcast about Owens’ allegedly throwing stones at people she doesn’t think are involved in an alleged cover-up. “I would want people to stick up for me.”
She added, “I just don’t think this is right, catching people up like this.”
Just as quickly as Maxton Hallbrought James and Ruby back together, the show is threatening to break them apart following that cheating story line.
During the Thursday, November 13, episode of the hit Prime Video show, James (Damian Hardung) visited Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten) at her home, which paved the way for a reconciliation after James’ infidelity. Before they returned to film season 2, Herbig-Matten, 22, and Hardung, 27, discussed what they would like to see for their characters.
“[I would like Ruby] to stay true to herself and to set boundaries. She’s already doing this, but to keep doing this. And not changing for him,” Herbig-Matten exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2024. “And I would like to focus on female friendships. That is really important too. And don’t let a man destroy your life.”
The actress told Usshe learned some important lessons from filming the first season that she planned to take with her into season 2.
“What I’ve learned from Damian is he worked out a lot after shooting. That’s what I learned from him. And I think there’s really to get out of your head and to just process the day,” she added. “I’ve learned that from him and that has really worked for me.”
Hardung, meanwhile, wanted to see James work on himself more.
“I’ve been saying this a lot. I truly wish for him that he and his family ideally go to family therapy and figure out what’s been going on,” he told Us. “They could have better communication of their wants and their needs together and kind of figure out how they can fulfill that. And they can learn how to go forward and not make life so hard for each other.”

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Residents of Area 38 in Lilongwe, particularly those living in Katondo and Msambachikho, are expressing growing frustration over a water shortage that has lasted for more than a month.
The shortage has severely affected their daily routines and is creating serious hygiene and sanitation challenges in their homes.
Many households say they are struggling to carry out basic activities such as bathing, washing dishes, and cleaning, as water has not been available for weeks.
Ellen Banda, one of the residents affected, said: “We have gone for an entire month without seeing even a drop of water.
“It has become extremely difficult to maintain hygiene and carry out simple household chores. We are really struggling and feeling the impact on our health and wellbeing.”
Another resident, Smart Mbewe, expressed disbelief that the Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) continues to send high water bills despite the prolonged water outage.
“We do not understand why we are being charged such high amounts when no water is coming through our taps. It is very frustrating,” he said.
When approached for comment, LWB spokesperson Kondwani Kintu explained that the organization is still investigating the cause of the disruption and needs time to provide a detailed and accurate response.
He assured that the board is aware of the residents’ concerns and is working to find a solution.
Meanwhile, residents continue to urge both the government and the Lilongwe Water Board to take immediate action to restore water supply to the affected areas.
They emphasize that timely intervention is critical to prevent further health risks and to ensure that normal life can resume.
The community remains hopeful that the issue will be resolved soon, as prolonged water shortages are not only inconvenient but can also have long-term impacts on hygiene, health, and daily living.

“It was going to be it for me. It was my swan song,” Grillo, 60, told Us Weekly exclusively. “[My] last episode, I was like, ‘Hey, guys, it’s been great. This has been fun.’ I love Sly. I don’t think it’s any secret how much I love Sylvester Stallone.”
Grillo did his final two appearances “as a favor” to Stallone, who stars as Dwight Manfredi on the Paramount+ show. Episode 5 ends with Grillo’s Bevilaqua being held at gunpoint while at a red light. Bevilaqua briefly returns in episode 6, and it’s revealed that he’s being kept in a holding cell.

“The powers that be were going in a different direction with the show,” Grillo explained. Fans of the show who follow Grillo on Instagram now know that he will be returning for Tulsa King season 4.
So what happened? Stallone called, and Grillo answered.
“Then [I] got a phone call from the big man, from Dwight Manfredi, who’s like, ‘You’re not leaving me. You’re not going anywhere.’ Here I am. I’m back in Atlanta,” Grillo said. “Before he got the words out of his mouth, I went, ‘Yep, if the band’s getting back together, I’m in.’”
Grillo added, “If it’ll make him happy, me being there, then I go. I want that guy to be as happy as he could be.”
As they gear up for season 4, Grillo wants to see Bevilaqua get “a little revenge” — just not too much.
“Revenge, it can get the best of someone. I was on Peacemaker season 2 and [in] Superman, and my character’s whole journey was about revenge. I gotta tell you, by the end of it, it starts to really — even me as an actor — it starts to eat at you,” he said. “I’d like to see a little bit of it, but there’s very little I know or I can say. I know bits and pieces, but it’s going to be a bumpy road for the crew in Tulsa. … But I’m in for the long haul this season.”

Tulsa King also gave Grillo a lifelong friend in Stallone.
“We’re buddies now,” Grillo said of the legendary actor. “We don’t leave messages or text each other, we leave video messages for each other because we’re old, and you never know when it might be the last time we talk to each other.”
Grillo said he still gets “giddy” from his real-life relationship with Stallone.
“There’s two Sylvester Stallones. There’s the one that I grew up with, the one who kind of shaped me as an actor and as a young Italian dude in New York,” he explained. “Then there’s my peer, my buddy, the guy I work with, the guy who we bounce things off of each other and share personal and professional things. A mentor in many ways.”
Grillo continued, “When the phone rings and it comes up ‘Rocky,’ I answer.”
The couple started dating and got married before the hit Hulu series premiered in September 2024. During the first season, Jessi’s personal life wasn’t in the spotlight, but that all changed after she filmed two episodes of Vanderpump Villa. From there, rumors spread about Jessi’s relationship with Marciano, which she denied was anything more than a friendship while filming season 2.
The season 2 finale, which aired in May 2025, took Us by surprise when Marciano claimed he slept with Jessi. She didn’t initially clarify the allegations but noted that there was more to the story, which would play out on screen.
“I’ll say I’m an open book. Even though there were things I hadn’t shared yet — once I was in the position to share them — I have nothing to hide,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2025. “I was willing to just lay it all on the table.”
Jessi said it is important to “just be honest,” sharing, “I’ve made mistakes. My husband has made mistakes. Everyone in their life has made mistakes. I think sharing those is relatable and hopefully people can get something out of it.”
“Every relationship has ups and downs. But when you’re on reality TV, it puts a microscope on it and everyone sees everything and has opinions. It’s hard not to have it affect your friendships, your relationships and your family life,” she noted. “That was definitely hard.”
Jessi continued: “Now that we’re done filming for a little while, I’m just going to focus on my family, my kids and get back on track with all of that. Then hopefully I will be in a better head space for the next time we film — if we do.”
The reality star acknowledged how filming the show played a role in her and Jordan’s marriage issues, saying, “It was definitely probably the hardest time of my life filming the next season. I do think it’s going to help a lot of people. I’m excited to share my story and help with what some women go through. I do think that it’s going to be a good thing — as hard as it is.”

The second season of Mormon Wives called Jessi’s marriage into question when Marciano claimed they had an affair. Jessi denied the allegations but later admitted she had issues she needed to address with Jordan.
“I will say that reality TV is hard on any relationship, whether it’s a friendship or a marriage,” Jessi revealed on “The Viall Files” podcast in May 2025. “We’ve been through a lot, and now it’s going to be public.”
Jessi was also asked about not wearing a wedding ring and noted that she and Jordan were “working through things,” adding, “We’re trying our best — but things are a little tricky right now. I’m excited to hopefully someday share more about that. But right now it’s just real life and it’s hard.”
“We’re back working on things. Every day is different,” Jessi exclusively told Us. “Marriage is hard. We still have ups and downs — and you will see a lot of that unfold in season 3.”
Jessi noted that she was hopeful about their future, adding, “I do think that overall it’s going to be inspiring to people. I hope that a lot of people can relate.”
According to Jessi, the pair “didn’t have a choice” or option to work things out privately, resulting in the cameras capturing their marital woes.
“A lot of this story is unpacked in season 3 so I can’t talk about it yet,” she said before assuming that Jordan felt “anxious, nervous and sad” hearing her discuss a possible affair. “We’re both going through a lot right now. But I think he’s willing to tell his truth too and he’s been very vulnerable throughout season 3. So we both just laid it all out there. There was a lot more to the story and it’s not what you think it is. There’s no secrets. Like, we are exposing it all.”
Jessi clarified that any interactions with Marciano happened “after” he allegedly spoke with Demi off screen. Later in the special, Jordan joined the group and revealed whether he thought he and Jessi would work through their issues.
“I knew what happened because of the conversations that I had had with Jessi, but it was really tough to have the allegations made,” he said about continuing to work through their issues. “I tried to talk to Bret [about Marciano]. It’s a really tough place to be. I see him a couple times a week. We wave at each other at the gym, but outside of that we don’t talk.”
