How Mutharika has faired during his first 40 days in office?

Malawians have currently expressed a series of criticisms or concerns regarding the actions and decisions of Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM).

Firstly, Mutharika’s ad hoc approach to cabinet appointments during a significant economic crisis has been criticized for being inconsistent and ineffective.

For instance, at the time of fuel scarcity, APM took a long time to appoint the Minister of Energy, Jean Mathanga.

Secondly, the appointment of individuals with allegations of crime and corruption, such as Alfred Gangata, Enoch Chihana, and Richard Luhanga, has raised concerns about governance and integrity.

Unfortunately, there is another school of thought that such appointments may propagate the corruption culture thereby creating a conflict of interest.

Furthermore , there have been complaints regarding the lack of proper procedures in the appointments of key positions, such as the Director General of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Some have contended that the acting Director General of MRA should have been chosen from within the organization, even without the involvement of the board.

Additionally, the process of selecting the Director General of ACB was not properly followed by APM. It should have included merit-based interviews for potential candidates, with the ultimate decision of appointment resting with the president.

Unfortunately, Mutharika has also been accused of favoring the Lhomwe tribe in public office appointments, leading to claims of tribalism and lack of inclusivity in governance.

This is against the background that Mutharika was evenly voted into power across all regions and tribes of Malawi.

Some critics have questioned Mutharika’s absence at the military fallen heroes ceremony as exhibiting a lack of respect and commitment to the nation and its armed forces.

It is therefore unfortunate that the ongoing shortages of essential commodities such as fuel, food, foreign exchange, water, and electricity have been a significant concern for the populace, reflecting poorly on Mutharika’s leadership.

Although it is premature to make a final assessment of Mutharika’s administration, the government has not provided any concrete explanation or proposed solutions for the current predicaments.

Lastly, Mutharika’s warnings against holding constitutional demonstrations have been interpreted as an attempt to suppress dissent and limit citizens’ rights to protest.

In conclusion, these listed factors represent a variety of concerns about Mutharika’s leadership that have been currently brought up in public discussions.

It is important for the Mutharika administration to promptly address these criticisms in order to maintain the public’s confidence in his leadership.

Legislator Mkumba vows to continue empowering Ndilande, Malabada constituents

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Member of Parliament (MP) for Ndilande and Malabada-Nyambadwe constituency, Ismael Rizk Mkumba, has expressed joy over his recent court victory, describing the election petition against him as “malicious, fraudulent, and baseless.”

Speaking to Maravi Post in an interview on Thursday, Mkumba said the judgment was a validation of his hard work and deep connection with his constituents.

“Iam extremely happy with the victory because the petition was merely malicious, fraudulent, and baseless. I managed to secure about 12,000 votes after campaigning for only five days, while my opponent campaigned for almost 12 months,” Nkumba said.

He attributed his success to the long-term investments he has made in uplifting the lives of the people in his area since 2018.

This victory is well-deserved. It shows that the investments I made in the people from 2018 up to polling day have paid dividends,” he added.

Nkumba highlighted his constituency development record, noting that his 2018 campaign motto, “Kuthana ndi Umphawi” (Eradicating Poverty), continues to guide his initiatives.

“I have trained about 2,300 drivers and 3,200 chefs. We have provided small loans through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) of up to 5,000, and paid bursaries for about 500 needy students some of whom have now graduated with bachelor’s degrees,” he said.

He further claimed that his office has implemented more tangible development projects in six years than the Blantyre City Council has managed in 31 years.

Nkumba reaffirmed his commitment to economic empowerment and development in the constituency.

“I love my people and my people love me. We will not allow any detractors to derail us from our goal of achieving financial freedom. With the MK5.2 billion annual CDF allocation from 2026 poverty will be something of the past,” he said confidently.

Shifting Gears’ Maxwell Simkins Drove Tim Allen’s Car — With Just a Permit

Playing Tim Allen‘s grandson on Shifting Gears has come with some perks for Maxwell Simkins — including driving the sitcom legend’s actual car on screen despite only having a permit.

“There’s a few episodes where I do drive the car. I don’t even have my license in real life [but] I have my permit,” Simkins, 19, exclusively told Us Weekly. “So as long as there’s someone over 18 in the car with me, they can drive with me. When Tim is in the car, he’s like, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?’”

Simkins noted that Allen, 72, has “a lot of trust” in him. Getting the chance to film with the cars has been a highlight for the young actor.

“I love the episodes where I’m in the car shop with the guys. Those are some of my favorites,” he shared. “I keep telling the writers that if they ever are short on ideas, I’d love to be back in the car shop with those guys.”

‘Shifting Gears’ Season 2: What to Know After Tim Allen, Jenna Elfman Kiss

Simkins continued: “I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest car fan but I can admire a nice car. I wouldn’t say I’m a car fan to the extent where I know everything about cars but I definitely can admire a nice car.”

Shifting Gears, which premiered in January, follows Matt and his estranged daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), as they find themselves living together and working to repair their relationship after the loss of their matriarch. Matt also grows closer to Kat’s kids: Carter (Simkins) and Georgia (Barrett Margolis).

“Working with Tim is incredible. He doesn’t have an off switch because that’s just who he is,” Simkins explained. “What you see on camera is who he is. He’s funny and outgoing and he’s always doing bits.”

The actor expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned from Allen two seasons in.

“But I think the one thing I learned from Tim is a huge thing. I learned from him and actually Daryl ‘Chill’ Mitchell as well, to really take time with the jokes and to not rush through them,” he continued. “Sometimes I feel like I get excited or nervous and I rush through the jokes. But they really taught me to take time — sometimes even longer than you’d expect — to make it funnier.”

Simkins gushed about Dennings’ mentorship as well, saying, “She shows up to that set every day so off book and takes the time to care about the lines so much. Most actors will give it a few days and they will learn as they go. She’s already in the second day off book and knowing our lines, knowing her blocking and writing every single note down. She teaches us all to be very professional and try our best.”

Which ‘Shifting Gears’ Stars Are — And Aren’t — Returning for Season 2?

The lessons Simkins learned on Shifting Gears he hopes to take with him onto future projects.

“I started in comedy and I hope to end in comedy. But my heart really lies in doing a lot of dramatic roles. I feel like as I get older, I’d love to explore that side of me and try a lot more different things,” he told Us. “I’d love to be able to do something really deep — like a character study.

Simkins isn’t just limiting himself to acting. He is also currently working on screenplays.

“There is a limited series show I’ve been working on that I’m trying to get made. It’s based on a true story and I’m really excited about it. Hopefully the guys that we make it about love the story just as much as we do,” he teased. “I feel like this show is young-hearted and it’s a really good story.”

Shifting Gears returns to ABC on Tuesday, December 10, at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.

Surveillance Video Shows Final Moments of Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland’s Life

Surveillance video from the police chase involving late Dallas Cowboys star Marshawn Kneeland gives a template for the final hours of his life.

In the video, obtained by ESPN, Kneeland’s vehicle “appears to be speeding northbound on the Dallas North Tollway, in some instances pursued by a police vehicle,” on the evening of Wednesday, November 5.

“The car then appears to exit the highway onto a parallel access road and turn left onto an overpass to make a U-turn south,” according to ESPN.

Kneeland’s vehicle can then be seen traveling southbound, just one block from Cowboys team headquarters, where he crashed into another vehicle at 10:40 p.m. Police later confirmed Kneeland collided with a pickup truck.

Marshawn Kneeland’s Family Claim Police ‘Killed’ the Dallas Cowboys Star

The NFL star fled the scene on foot, which resulted in a police search involving K9 units and drones.

Kneeland’s body was found dead of an apparent suicide 1:31 a.m. on Thursday, November 6. His cause of death remains under investigation.

On the night of the police chase, which came after authorities attempted to pull over Kneeland for a traffic violation, the team’s director of security, Cable Johnson, called law enforcement to ask for a welfare check on Kneeland.

In audio obtained by Us Weekly on Monday, November 10, Johnson tells authorities that Kneeland had expressed he was “not able to go to prison or to jail.”

Kneeland had also allegedly sent “goodbye” texts to family and friends. His girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, told police that Kneeland had “a history of mental illness.”

During a Cowboys press conference on Wednesday, November 12, it was revealed by head coach Brian Schottenheimer that Mancera is currently pregnant

The team announced the creation of the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund, which will support Mancera and Kneeland’s family.

“I’d like to take a few moments and offer my condolences to Marshawn’s family, Catalina, his girlfriend,” Schottenheimer, 52, said. “We had an opportunity last night to celebrate Marshawn’s life, tell some stories. Share, laugh, cry. Marshawn loved the words ‘one love.’ So we talked a lot about love, as we grieve. I got a chance to share a couple of the things that I’ll miss the most about Marshawn.”

The head coach added, “My heart is heavy, my team’s heart is heavy. We don’t move on, but we do move forward.”

Dallas returns to action for the first time since Kneeland’s death on Monday, November 17, when they travel to play the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.

Who Is Late Cowboys Star Marshawn Kneeland’s Pregnant Girlfriend Catalina

The Kneeland family — including the Cowboys star’s father, Shawn, his brothers, AJ and Shawn Jr., and sister, Yahmya — issued a statement about his death on November 6.

“We are devastated by this tremendous loss and are still processing the depth of our grief,” the family said. “As Marshawn was making his mark on the football field with the Dallas Cowboys, he held an even more special place off the field — as a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend.”

The statement continued, “He was kind, determined, humble, and full of love. His light shone brightly in every life he touched, and his spirit will continue to live on through the countless hearts he inspired. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, fans, and the community. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy as we come together as a family to honor and remember Marshawn’s life and legacy.”

Kim Kardashian Reveals Outcome After Someone ‘Put a Hit Out’ on Her Life

Kim Kardashian revealed who was threatening her from prison — and whether the hit out on her life was legitimate.

During the Thursday, November 13, episode of The Kardashians, Kim, 45, discussed the “life-alterating” revelation that her life was in danger.

“Someone from prison was like, ‘This person put a hit out on your life.’ I got a call from an attorney that was hearing from the guys inside that there was a hit out on me.
They said that someone extremely close to me — they used to be in my life — had put a hit out on my life,” she revealed.

Kim explained the safety precautions she went through in order to take the threat “seriously.”

Did Kim Kardashian Pass the Bar Exam? Inside Her Journey to Become a Lawyer

“I switch out all my cars, I don’t drive [in certain places] and I don’t go out,’” she explained. “It was time consuming because I had to meet with attorneys and investigators.
It was definitely scary. It’s definitely scary to know or to feel that energy out there.”

The reality star ultimately learned that the lead “wasn’t real,” telling producers, “The person just wanted some money and was gonna act like it was happening but they were gonna stop it. It was for me to be indebted to them. Whether it was real or not, it took a toll on me that week.
It was a lot but then you have to move on.”

In addition to the revelation about her life potentially being in danger, viewers are also still expecting an update on her health after the season 7 trailer showed Kim was seen lying in an MRI machine before telling sister Kourtney Kardashian that the scan found “a little aneurysm.”

Kim hinted that “stress” was to blame for the aneurysm, which is swelling in a blood vessel in your brain. After causing concern off screen, Kim was asked about her health on Good Morning America, where she explained, “I had to end up going and getting tons of other brain scans at Cedars-Sinai [Medical Center].”

The reality star noted that Hulu viewers would need to “tune in next week” for more details before clarifying that “everything works out” for her. Kim said her Prenuvo was “just a good measure to make sure you always check everything.”

“Health is wealth,” she added. “And you just have to be careful with everything that you do.”

Kim’s health scare came amid her years-long attempt to become an attorney. After previously passing the “baby bar” exam, Kim said she would become a qualified lawyer before the end of the year.

Fall 2025 TV Schedule: See When Your Favorite Shows Will Air

“In California, the way I’m studying law you need to take 2 bar exams, this was just the first one but with the harder pass rate,” she wrote via Instagram in 2021. “I was told by top lawyers that this was a close to impossible journey and harder than the traditional law school route but it was my only option and it feels so so sooooo good to be here and on my way to achieving my goals.”

Kim continued: “I know my dad would be so proud and he would actually be so shocked to know that this is my path now but he would have been my best study partner. I am told he was notorious for making fun of people who didn’t pass on their first attempt like he did, but he would have been my biggest cheerleader!”

More recently, Kim teased her plans once she passes.

“I will be qualified in two weeks. I hope to practice law,” she shared on the U.K.’s Graham Norton Show last month. “Maybe in 10 years, I think I’ll give up being Kim K. and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”
