“DPP won’t accommodate political prostitutes”-Jappie Mhango

LILONGWE–(MaraviPost)-The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has announced that it will no longer welcome so-called “political tourists, prostitutes”politicians who frequently switch allegiance between parties to advance their personal interests.

The declaration was made on Friday in Parliament by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Charles Mhango, who revealed that the DPP is reviewing its constitution to tighten membership regulations and prevent serial defectors from rejoining.

“We are taking steps to protect the integrity of our party,” Mhango said.

“Our constitution will soon be amended to ensure that those who see the DPP merely as a ladder for their ambitions are no longer entertained.”

People’s Party (PP) Member of Parliament for Nkhata Bay Chiteche, Noah Chipeni, commended the DPP’s decision, saying many Malawians have grown frustrated with politicians who constantly jump from one political group to another, especially toward ruling parties, in pursuit of personal gain.

“These political prostitutes are the same people who move from one party to another whenever it suits their ambitions,”

“They are not driven by principles or ideology, but by personal benefit.”Chipeni said.

Chipeni’s remarks reflect growing concern within Malawi’s political circles over a culture of opportunism, where several prominent politicians have switched allegiances immediately after elections.

Concurring with Mhango,People’s Party (PP) Member of Parliament for Nkhata Bay Chintheche, Noah Chipeni, welcomed the DPP’s decision, saying many people are tired of politicians who keep moving from one party to another, especially to the ruling party, just to benefit themselves.

He said most of these political tourists are only after personal gain and not because they truly believe in the party’s ideas.

The DPP’s announcement follows the recent return of veteran politician Brown Mpinganjira, often labeled a “political tourist.” Mpinganjira had defected to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) after the 2020 elections, only to rejoin the DPP recently.

Political analysts have described the DPP’s move as a bold attempt to restore discipline and loyalty within its ranks. However, others caution that enforcing such restrictions may prove difficult in a political landscape where party-hopping has long been normalized.

As Malawi edges closer to another election cycle, the DPP’s stance signals a growing call among political parties to prioritize loyalty and ideological commitment over opportunistic alliances.

Magnificent Lilongwe bridge officially opens: to reduce city traffic, boost trade

By Zakeyu Mamba

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The long-awaited Lilongwe Bridge was officially commissioned today, marking a major step forward in the capital city’s infrastructure transformation.

The newly constructed bridge connects the M1 Road at the Murray Road junction to Lilongwe Main Mosque, creating a vital link that is expected to ease the city’s persistent traffic congestion and improve mobility for thousands of commuters.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works, Feston Kaupa, presided over the official opening ceremony attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and community members.

In his remarks, Kaupa hailed the project as “not just a structure of concrete and steel, but a living symbol of progress, resilience, and cooperation.”

He said the bridge will significantly improve road safety, reduce travel time, and support urban trade and economic activity within the fast-growing capital.

“The Government of Malawi remains committed to investing in modern infrastructure that meets international standards and promotes inclusive growth,” Kaupa added.

Japanese Ambassador Yoichi Oya also spoke at the ceremony, reaffirming Japan’s dedication to supporting Malawi’s development priorities.

“Japan is proud to partner with Malawi in building infrastructure that connects people, markets, and opportunities,” Oya said, noting that the bridge aligns with Japan’s long-term cooperation through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Residents and motorists expressed excitement, saying the bridge will improve access to businesses, hospitals, and schools.

Local traders in the city described it as a “game changer” that will stimulate local commerce and ease movement across the city.

The project, fully funded by the Government of Japan through JICA, stands as a lasting testament to the enduring friendship between Malawi and Japan and a milestone in the modernization of Malawi’s transport network.

Malawi High Court dismisses wildlife crime convict-corruption suspect Lin’s unlawful detention, bail applications

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The High Court Judge Redson Kapindu on morning, November 7, 2025 dismissed Wildlife Crime Convict and Corruption suspect Yunhua Lin’s unlawful detention and bail applications.

Judge Kapindu cited the suspect being flight risk and the serious offences he committed might compromise the court proceedings.

The Judge therefore ordered continual detection of Lin at Dedza Prison.

Kapindu therefore adjourned the case for fresh corruption hearings on Lin’s for January 12 to 13, 2026 at 10 am.

Lin cooling himself after his bail was denied

Reacting to the ruling, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) legal team leader Peter Sambani
expressed satisfactory over the verdict agreeing with the court that the suspect is a flight risk who might jump the bail.

“ACB is very happy with the ruling. We are ready to commerce corruption charges against Lin in January, 2026”, assures Sambani.

Newly, appointed Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Festino Maele has been representing Lin in court.

During today’s ruling, Maele was seen around the court seeing off Lin but he was not present in the chamber when Judge Kapindu dismissed the applications.

Maele has been representing Lin in a corruption case in which the Chinese national is accused of attempting to bribe a High Court judge and prison officials to secure his release.

The case arose shortly after Lin’s controversial presidential pardon in July, this year which was followed by his re-arrest by ACB.

Katy Perry Mends Her ‘Broken Heart’ in Down-on-Her-Luck ‘Bandaids’ Video

Katy Perry is turning to music after upheaval in her personal life.

The pop star, 41, dropped her powerful new song, “Bandaids,” and its self-deprecating music video on Thursday, November 6, marking her first release since her split from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom.

In the video, a down-on-her-luck Perry finds herself in a series of near-death situations. It begins with the singer washing dishes (a nod to her viral “Call Her Daddy” comment last year about Bloom getting his “d*** sucked” whenever he did chores) when her ring suddenly falls down the drain. As Perry sticks her hand in the sink to retrieve the gold band, she accidentally turns on the garbage disposal, leaving her bloodied and screaming.

As the visual progresses, Perry’s misfortune only gets worse: Her shoelace gets caught in the escalator at a shopping mall, causing her to face-plant; the lid comes off her coffee cup while she’s driving, spilling all over her lap and burning her; and she sinks into quicksand after narrowly avoiding an oncoming train.

Katy Perry’s Craziest and Chicest Style Moments Through the Years

The video is filled with Easter eggs, from a daisy growing in the middle of the train tracks (Perry and Bloom’s 5-year-old daughter is named Daisy) to the Grammy nominee’s 2024 single “Woman’s World” playing before a gas station explosion in the final scene, signaling the end of her 143 era and the beginning of another.

“Bandaids” features candid lyrics about Perry’s “broken heart” that offer a glimpse into her mindset after her breakup. She sings in the first verse, “Hand to God, I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did / It’s what you didn’t / You were there, but you weren’t.”

Later, Perry references Daisy as one of the positive things that came out of the relationship, singing, “If I had to do it all over again / I would still do it all over again / The love that we made was worth it in the end.”

Relive Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s Relationship Timeline Pre-Split

The release comes after several major changes in Perry’s personal life. Us Weekly confirmed her separation from Bloom, 48, in June after nearly 10 years together. A source revealed at the time that it was “a long time coming,” as things between the now-exes had “been tense for months.”

Nonetheless, Perry and Bloom remain cordial as they moved forward with their focus on their daughter.

“They are still very much in touch and coparenting Daisy together,” an insider told Us in June. “It’s not messy between them.”

The source noted that Perry and Bloom were “prioritizing stability and consistency for Daisy” as the family adapted to their new normal.

In the aftermath of the split, the Pirates of the Caribbean star emphasized his healthy coparenting dynamic with his ex.

“I’m so grateful. We have the most beautiful daughter,” he said on the Today show in September. “You know, when you leave everything on the field, like I did in [the movie The Cut], I feel grateful for all of it.”

He added, “We’re great. We’re going to be great. It’s nothing but love.”

After her breakup from Bloom, Perry moved on with former Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau, to whom she has been linked since July. At the time, the pair — who “have a few mutuals in the music industry” — were spotted on a “casual” dinner date in Canada after being “in touch for the last month,” according to a source.

Although Perry does not “have a lot of extra time” at the moment due to her ongoing Lifetimes Tour, the insider told Us, “This is all new to her, as she hasn’t dated in so many years, and it’s been exciting to put herself out there again. … Katy is excited to move on but isn’t looking for anything serious.”

In October, a source revealed that Perry and Trudeau, 53, are staying under the radar while pursuing their connection.

“Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” the insider told Us. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.”

Demi Moore Shows Support for Bruce Willis at Benefit for Dementia

Demi Moore showed her support for ex-husband Bruce Willis at a recent benefit for frontotemporal degeneration.

According to photos obtained by multiple outlets, Moore, 62, was spotted at the Soho Sessions’ event in New York City on Wednesday, November 6. The actress, who was married to Willis from 1987 to 2000, donned a black pea coat, leather turtleneck top and trousers for the occasion.

The event fundraised for the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration and honored Willis, 70, who is battling the condition. Keith Richards, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples and Warren Hayne performed at the event, according to People.

Moore wasn’t the only A-List guest in attendance. Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Michael J. Fox, Tracy Pollan and Whoopi Goldberg were amid the crowd. Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, was also in attendance and thanked everyone for their support.

Demi Moore Talks ‘Great Loss,’ ‘Beauty’ in Bruce Willis’ Dementia Battle

“I just wanna say first thank you all for being here,” Heming Willis told the crowd, per People. “This is incredible, and I love what you guys are doing here at the Soho [Sessions] to be able to raise awareness for frontotemporal dementia. This is gonna bring all of Bruce’s friends and family together. So thank you for being here. I honestly wish Bruce could be here, but he’s here in spirit.”

In March 2022, Willis’ family revealed that the Die Hard actor was diagnosed with the language disorder, aphasia. The following year, Willis’ condition progressed to frontotemporal dementia, which impacts a person’s behavior and language.

After caring for her husband for years, Heming Willis revealed in August that Willis now lives in a separate residence with full-time care. Willis’ new house is close to the home he shared with his wife and their daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11. (Willis also shares daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with Moore.)

“It was one of the hardest decisions that I’ve had to make so far,” Heming Willis said of having to make the difficult choice during an August interview with Diane Sawyer. “But I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. You know, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”

Demi Moore on Difficulties of Seeing Bruce Willis’ Dementia Progression

While Heming Willis received backlash for the decision, she has doubled down on the choice, telling Good Morning America in August, “It’s really not up for a debate. Now I know that Bruce has the best care 100 percent of the time. His needs are met 100 percent of the time, as well as our two young daughters. So I’m not gonna take a vote on that.”

Moore, for her part, has been supportive of Heming Willis throughout Willis’ health struggles.

“Being the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position,” Moore said during a September podcast appearance. “So much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out, and the most beautiful thing was recognizing the importance for caregivers and that they have to take care of themselves. If they don’t put that time into making sure that they’re OK, then they can’t show up for anyone else.”
