Mohbad’s father seeks prosecution of widow, Prime Boy over singer’s death

MR. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, father of late music star, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba a.k.a. Mohbad has asked the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN) to prosecute the deceased’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, and the auxiliary nurse, Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo for the death of the music star within the next 14 days.

Others whose prosecution was sought by Mohbad’s father included Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy and others who were in the apartment of the deceased at the time of death, who either facilitated the invitation of the auxiliary nurse or refused to take him promptly to a recognised medical facility for treatment.

The demand followed the verdict of the Coroner, Magistrtate Adetayo Shotobi, dated July 11, 2025 which indicted them of alleged complicity in the death of the late singer.

The father of the late music star made the demand through his counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), in a petition dated October 3, 2025 submitted yesterday to the office of the Attorney General at the Ministry of Justice, Alausa secretariat, Ikeja.

The petition was titled ‘Demand for prosecution of indicted persons pursuant to the verdict of the coroner’s inquest into the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (a.k.a. ‘Mohbad’)

Shittu stated that in the alternative, should the Attorney General for any reason, not be minded to prosecute the above persons within the demanded period of 14 days, ‘we respectfully request that a fiat be graciously granted to us within such period, in accordance with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, to prosecute the matter on behalf of the State.

He referred to persons indicted by the coroner verdict to include ‘Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo, indicted for unlawful medical practice and gross medical negligence’ and ‘Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba, indicted for negligence in the circumstances surrounding the medical treatment sought for the deceased.’

They also include ‘others in the apartment of the deceased at the time of death, who either facilitated the invitation of the auxiliary nurse or refused to take him promptly to a recognised medical facility for treatment. This includes Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy, etc.’

Dr Shittu stated that his client, as a bereaved father desirous of ensuring that justice is done and seen to be done, is deeply concerned that notwithstanding the clear indictments contained in the Coroner’s Verdict, no prosecutorial steps have been taken against the aforementioned persons since the delivery of the verdict on July 11, 2025.

The learned silk drew the attention of the Attorney General to salient excerpts of the verdict on Page 66, where the coroner observed as follows:

‘.Miss Ogedengbe Feyisayo, who was summoned by a witness summons. According to her account, she observed swelling on Mohbad’s right arm. Without conducting any formal diagnostic assessment, she proceeded to administer three injections in succession: tetanus injection intramuscularly into the upper left arm; paracetamol-for pain relief; and ceftriaxone-a broad spectrum antibiotic..

‘She is not a certified registered nurse, nor a licensed doctor or pharmacist. She administered injections without conducting a medical diagnosis.

‘Consequently, at page 72 of the Verdict, His Honour expressly recommended that Feyisayo be prosecuted for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence.’

‘Further, at page 69, His Honour made findings concerning Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba as follows:

‘First, the deceased was treated at home by an uncertified auxiliary nurse whose competence and training were later brought into question.

‘As the closest person to the deceased, and given his status as a public figure, the decision to seek home treatment-especially by someone whose credentials were unclear-appears negligent, even if driven by fear or preference from the deceased.

‘Secondly, Omowunmi was a direct eyewitness to the medical emergency but did not insist on calling emergency services or ensuring proper ambulance care.’

The senior lawyer stated that the above judicial observations amount to clear indictments warranting the prosecution of the said individuals in order to give full effect to the Coroner’s findings and recommendations, and to ensure that justice is manifestly and adequately served in this matter.

The learned silk requested the Attorney General to exercise his prosecutorial power on the above subject matter within 14 days in view of the highly sensitive nature of the matter and the public attention and outrage it has generated.

STAMFORD BRIDGE BATTLE

Liverpool may have lost their grip on top spot in the Premier League table by the time they kick off against Chelsea in this evening’s Stamford Bridge battle.

More cracks are beginning to appear for Arne Slot’s men, while the Blues earned just a second win from six matches by taking down Jose Mourinho’s Benfica in midweek.

Labelled as dark horses for the 2025-26 Premier League title before the first ball was kicked, Chelsea’s indifferent form may have some going back on their pre-season predictions, as Enzo Maresca has overseen a mediocre two wins, two draws and two defeats thus far.

Not for the first time this season, poor discipline cost the Club World Cup winners in last weekend’s visit of Brighton and Hove Albion, who were on the back foot until Trevoh Chalobah’s red card changed the course of the game; the Seagulls eventually triumphed 3-1 courtesy of a Danny Welbeck double.

Boasting a paltry one point from their last three Premier League games – after taking seven from the first nine on offer – the eighth-placed hosts already find themselves seven points behind the leaders and are also counting the cost of a hefty absentee list, which the Club World Cup may or may not have had something to do with.

From injuries to indiscipline, Chelsea’s 118 cards – 114 yellow, four red – since the start of the 2024-25 Premier League season is more than any other team, and the Blues failed to finish Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Benfica with 11 men on the pitch too.

However, Joao Pedro’s late dismissal was inconsequential in a 1-0 win over Mourinho’s men, and the hosts now set out to avoid losing three straight Premier League games for the first time since the spring of 2023, when Frank Lampard was at the helm.

Also at risk of a torrid third consecutive defeat – albeit in all competitions rather than the Premier League exclusively – reigning champions Liverpool have looked a shadow of the side that stormed to the title at a canter over the past week.

The Reds’ latest late show was not enough to deny Crystal Palace their deserved victory last weekend, as Eddie Nketiah’s extraordinary late winner ended Liverpool’s perfect start to the top-flight campaign, in a result that Reds fans likely saw coming.

None of the holders’ first five Premier League wins of the new term were convincing by any stretch, and their autumnal plight continued in midweek, as Galatasaray condemned Arne Slot’s side to a shock 1-0 Champions League defeat thanks to a Victor Osimhen penalty.

A country without lawyers is blessed

Any patriotic Nigerian would be bothered by the pensive mien of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, as he addressed a gathering of legal eggheads, including the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, at the Supreme Court complex in Abuja on Monday. His low and shaky voice betrayed the weight of the embarrassment he felt from the shame and disgrace some lawyers have brought to the bar in recent times.

‘It is for this reason that my office has now taken the unusual step of verifying the authenticity of this and other complaints with a view to referring them to the appropriate disciplinary bodies,’ he said. The AGF was referring to a recent incident involving the alleged inglorious bid by flamboyant lawyer, rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Mike Ozekhome, to take possession of a London property belonging to the late former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt-Gen. Jeremiah Useni.

As the story goes, the property, House 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2, was purchased by Useni in 1993, using the name ‘Tali Shani’. But following his death in January this year, Ozekhome moved to take ownership of the property and, in the process, got himself entangled in a messy case that bordered on forgery, impersonation, corruption and conspiracy.

Trouble began when Ozekhome sought to register the said property, which he claimed was transferred to him by the owner, ‘Mr Tali Shani’, in August 2021 as a gift and out of gratitude for the many legal services he (Ozekhome) had rendered to him in the past. Unfortunately for the SAN, another ‘Tali Shani’, a female, represented by her solicitors at the London tribunal, had also laid claim to the property.

Thus began a legal battle with claims and counter-claims that exposed both parties as nothing but two bands of impostors desirous of reaping where they did not sow. ‘The final outcome of this case, therefore, is that both parties have failed. Neither ‘Tali Shani’ was who they said they were. The real owner, via a false name, was General Jeremiah Useni,’ the judge declared, leaving the activist lawyer and his rival crestfallen.

Of course, any well-meaning Nigerian would be disappointed with what transpired at the London tribunal, but only a few would be surprised, knowing that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the umbrella body of lawyers to which Ozekhome belongs, has hardly conducted itself in a more dignifying way in recent times. Put more succinctly, its public conduct in recent times has fallen far short of the expectations of patriotic Nigerians.

A few months ago, the body was up in arms against Ibok Ete Ibas, the administrator appointed for Rivers State in the aftermath of the state of emergency declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for daring to complain that it collected a whopping N300 million from the state government but failed to honour an agreement that its annual national conference would be held in the state. Instead, the conference was moved to Enugu State, where another huge sum must have changed hands.

Rather than show remorse for what was an obvious act of betrayal, the body brazenly declared that the money in question was a gift from the Rivers State Government and not something concomitant on any form of obligation! The situation has caused many to wonder what would be left for governance if every professional body becomes a recipient of such gifts.

Sadly, the NBA thinks nothing of the aforementioned scandals, but was quick to demand a probe into Ibas’ tenure as the administrator of Rivers State as well as the recent Afriland fire outbreak that claimed some lives in Lagos recently.

On the basis of its antics, the only reason the NBA has not been tagged a political party is that it is yet to officially register as one. Every of its gathering is laced with campaign, especially against the administration of President Tinubu as was witnessed during its recent conference in Enugu where, in a partisan theatrics, Channels Television presenter Seun Okinbaloye led the lawyers in an open ridicule of the President and his government. It was a repeat of the caricature they made of Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate of Tinubu and guest at their annual conference in the build-up to the presidential election in 2023.

Law, it must be said, is nothing but an assemblage of moral values and the consequences for their violation arranged in sections and sub-sections. Without ethics, it is nothing better than a car without an engine. That, unfortunately, is the lot of Nigeria with NBA’s scant regard for morality. It would not be a surprise if the people charged with designing the academic curricular of universities and law schools are already contemplating blacking out ethics the same way former President Olusegun Obasanjo directed that History be wiped out from schools.

The special treatment accorded two new entrants into the legal profession, Dino Melaye and Deji Adeyanju, over and above established lawyers with immense contributions to Nigeria’s legal jurisprudence during a recent gathering of the body is danger signal that worse days await the bar unless there is proper re-orientation of the new generation of lawyers. AGF Fagbemi’s declaration on Monday that he had started a probe into the messy property controversy in the United Kingdom could be a good starting point.

Five die as truck rams into tricycle in Ogun

Tragedy struck in Ogun State on Friday night when a Dangote Cement truck rammed into a tricycle, killing all five occupants at the Alapoka axis of the Papalanto-Ilaro Road in Yewa South Local Government Area.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m.

According to Akinbiyi, the accident involved an unregistered tricycle and a Dangote truck with registration number GRZ 767 XA. Preliminary findings indicated that the truck lost its brakes before crashing into the tricycle.

‘A fatal road traffic accident occurred at Alapoka Village, Papalanto-Ilaro Road, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State on Friday at 8:25 p.m. The tricycle was conveying five people, and sadly, all five died on the spot,’ Akinbiyi said.

Quoting an eyewitness, he added that the truck driver was unaware of the collision until its tyres had already crushed the tricycle and its passengers.

On receiving the report, TRACE Acting Head, Adedayo Omonayajo, and the Ilaro Divisional Commander, Salako Idowu, led a rescue operation to the scene. However, the team reportedly faced hostility from angry residents before the intervention of the Amotekun Corps restored calm.

‘The presumed dead were taken to the morgue by Federal Road Safety Corps officials,’ Akinbiyi added.

Visa issues disrupted my Tanzania concert – Moses Bliss

Gospel singer Moses Bliss has expressed disappointment over his recent cancelled visit to Tanzania, which was scheduled for Friday, October 3, 2025.

Bliss was billed to perform at a concert in Tanzania, which drew over 60,000 people.

In a statement on Instagram, he said despite weeks of preparation and assurance from the organising team that his team’s visas were in order, they were denied entry into the country at the last minute.

However, due to the visa issues, the concert was ultimately cancelled.

Moses Bliss apologised to the Tanzanian fans, pointing that the delay was not their fault and expressed gratitude for their love and patience.

The singer revealed that his team had invested significant time, energy, and resources into the concert, which was meant to be free for everyone.

He promised to reschedule the concert, reinstating God’s promise to make all things beautiful in His time.

The statement reads: ‘I have been overwhelmed with emotions since hearing that over maybe 60,000 of you gathered last night with eager hearts, ready to worship Jesus together with me. The thought that such a great multitude came out for this encounter with God leaves me humbled and broken, knowing I could not be there physically as planned.

‘I want you to hear the truth directly from me. My team and I were scheduled to fly from Nairobi into Tanzania on the 2nd of October after a successful program in the stadium in Kenya. Bags were packed, instruments ready, and our hearts burning with anticipation. But at the airport, to our deepest shock, we discovered that our visas had not been released, despite weeks of assurance from the organizing team in Tanzania that the approvals were already in place.

‘From that moment, we did not relent. We mobilized every contact possible, leaders across Tanzania, friends across Africa, and even sought Presidential intervention. We were told, time after time, that the visas had been ‘approved,’ only for another excuse to follow: that the officer in charge of issuing them was not on seat, or that emails had not been sent yet. For two days straight, I remained at the airport, waiting in faith, hoping that at any moment the approvals would come and we travel. But each hour ended with disappointment.

‘We were even instructed to proceed with our flight and assured that the visas would be granted on arrival. Trusting those words, we boarded and landed in Dar es Salaam at midnight, while the program was already ongoing. To our deepest pain, immigration did not permit us entry into the nation.

‘This was not just painful for me personally, it was heartbreaking for my entire team, who had invested their energy, prayers, and preparation into this divine assignment. Beyond that, hundreds of thousands of dollars were

invested to make this concert absolutely free for everyone, because our hearts was to see the whole nation worship without barrier.

‘Tanzania, please hear me, you were not at fault. You came out in numbers, ready for God, and that moves me deeply. I have cried, prayed, and wrestled with this disappointment, but one thing I know, our God makes all things beautiful in His time.

‘I owe you not just an apology, but a promise; by God’s grace, I will return. This setback will only pave the way for an even greater outpouring of His glory when we finally gather in Tanzania.

‘From my heart to yours, I say thank you for your patience, your love, and your unwavering faith. The delay may hurt, but it will not deny us the encounter God has destined’.

BREAKING: Chelsea stun Liverpool with late winner

Chelsea secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, with substitute Estevão Willian scoring a stunning stoppage-time winner to hand the Blues all three points in a tense Premier League clash.

The hosts took the lead in the 14th minute when Moises Caicedo finished off a neat move orchestrated by Malo Gusto, slotting past Giorgi Mamardashvili to make it 1-0.

Liverpool, however, fought their way back into the game after the break. Cody Gakpo equalised in the 63rd minute, converting from close range after a fine assist from Alexander Isak, silencing the home crowd.

Just when it seemed both sides would share the points, Stamford Bridge erupted deep into added time. Marc Cucurella surged forward on the left and delivered a low cross that found Estevão Willian, who calmly tucked the ball in the 96th minute to seal a memorable victory.

Imo demolishes criminal hideouts, brothels, recovers arms cache

The Imo State Government has demolished a notorious hideout at Control Fly-Over, Owerri, which security reports confirmed was being used by bandits as a base of operations.

The flyover was commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, but was taken over by hoodlums who converted it to a parking bay, smoking joints and a brothel.

However, the government, just a few hours after issuing a public notice, moved swiftly to safeguard the landmark project and guarantee the safety of commuters and residents around the strategic gateway.

The demolition exercise was carried out by the Office of the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, headed by Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, in collaboration with security agencies.

According to intelligence, the location, which also operated as a brothel, had long served as a meeting point for armed criminals who planned kidnappings, robberies, and other violent crimes from the spot.

During the operation, a large cache of arms and dangerous weapons were recovered by security operatives and handed over to the appropriate authorities for investigation and prosecution. Several suspects were also arrested for further questioning.

In a related enforcement, commercial vehicles that attempted to convert the under-bridge of the newly commissioned Control-Assumpta Fly-Over into illegal loading bays were impounded.

The state government announced that the operators involved will face immediate prosecution, stressing that no misuse of critical infrastructure will be tolerated.

Residents who gathered at the scene welcomed the demolition and arrests, describing the measures as timely and in line with the governor’s resolve to match infrastructure development with stronger security.

Many said the site had been a persistent threat to safety in the area and praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for not only building but also securing Owerri for the people.

Speaking after the operation, Nze Nwaneri emphasised that the government would not allow criminal elements or illegal activities to undermine public safety. ‘The directive of His Excellency is clear: there must be no safe haven for criminals or lawbreakers in this state. Wherever they are identified, we will act immediately,’ he said.

The government pledged to sustain similar operations across the state until all identified criminal hideouts and illegal practices are eliminated, he said.

Separation from husband redefined my life – Toluwani Odukoya

Associate Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Toluwani Odukoya, has shared the journey of separation from the husband, a period she said significantly shaped her life.

In a recent interview with Truthtable, Toluwani revealed that she is separated due to circumstances beyond her control, describing the experience as akin to a death.

The 40-year-old emphasised that separation doesn’t necessarily imply failure or fault on either side.

‘I’ll say I’m separated. Most of you don’t know I’m separated and that’s actually defined or has shaped my life. It was circumstances beyond my control,’ she said.

She praised her ex-husband, calling him a ‘great man,’ and believes that their marriage wasn’t ordained by God, making it difficult to last.

‘My ex-husband is a great man. but if God doesn’t ordain you guys to be together and you force-fit yourselves, the likelihood of staying together is very low,’ she explained.

She stated the past few years have been particularly trying for her, marked by a series of family tragedies.

She lost her stepmother, her father’s twin sister, and eventually, her father, Senior Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who passed away on August 7, 2023.

Through her struggles, Toluwani said she has leaned heavily on her faith and found solace in her family’s support.

‘When the call came, I told God, ‘You know all the baggage I’m trying to navigate. But if You call me to serve, then maybe you’ve put something in me.’ I just decided to keep my eyes on Jesus,’ she recounted.

Support from her family, particularly her late father and her siblings, played a pivotal role in helping her stay grounded during those challenging years. ‘My dad fought for me. My family encouraged me. That embrace added to my self-esteem and self-worth,’ she said.

The Odukoya family has been at the heart of The Fountain of Life Church since its founding.

After the passing of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya in the United States, his son, Jimmy Odukoya, succeeded him as the Senior Pastor, serving alongside Toluwani in leadership.

First Lady reaffirms maternal health as core of Renewed Hope Agenda

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu yesterday re-emphasised that no Nigerian mother should lose her life while giving birth, as she commissioned two major health facilities in Gombe State.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 100-bed Senator Oluremi Tinubu Maternal and Child Specialist Hospital, the First Lady described healthcare – particularly maternal and child health – as central to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady said ‘the commissioning of this hospital is not just the unveiling of a building; it is the opening of doors to life, to hope, and to a healthier future for our mothers and our children.

‘Healthcare, especially maternal and child health, is at the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which seeks to ensure that every Nigerian child has a healthy start in life, and that no mother dies while birthing life’, Mrs. Tinubu declared.

She commended the Office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for building the hospital, noting that the facility would significantly help reduce maternal and infant mortality while bringing relief to families in Gombe and neighboring states.

‘It is my belief that this facility will provide quality healthcare services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and bring relief to families in Gombe State and beyond,’ the First Lady said, while urging medical professionals, community leaders, and citizens to ensure the facility serves its purpose with excellence, compassion, and integrity.

In addition to the specialist hospital, Senator Tinubu also commissioned the ultra-modern New College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, where she interacted with enthusiastic students who expressed gratitude for her visit.

The First Lady’s engagements in Gombe form part of her ongoing nationwide advocacy for improved healthcare and education under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She has since returned to Abuja after her two-day official visit to the state.

Four Delta environmental marshals arrested for extortion of residents

The authorities of the Delta State Environmental Taskforce have arrested four environmental marshals involved in illegal night extortion of residents of Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were apprehended yesterday along Summit Road in Asaba, the state capital.

The task force team, led by Chief Agbari, recognised the marshals engaging in unauthorised activities and contacted Comrade Adim Dikedi, the Supervisory Officer on Environment for Oshimili South, for clarification regarding the marshals’ actions.

Upon receiving the call, Supervisor Dikedi ordered the immediate detention of the four officers at a police station until he could address the matter personally.

It was revealed that one of the apprehended marshals was impersonating the current Supervisor on Environment, prompting further concern about corruption within the ranks.

Dikedi emphasised his agency’s commitment to eradicating corruption among environmental marshals.

He expressed that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated and reaffirmed a directive issued in January, prohibiting marshals from operating beyond 4:00 pm.

He said the incident underscored the challenges of overseeing environmental enforcement and the need for accountability within such agency.

Dikedi said ensuring transparency and integrity among environmental officers is crucial for maintaining public trust, especially when allegations of extortion are involved.
