Bilateral relations and the priorities of the Cyprus EU the first half of 2026 were on the agenda of a meeting President Nikos Christodoulides held Monday with Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, on the sidelines of MED9 Summit in the city of Portorož.
A written statement by the Director of the Press Office of the President, Victoras Papadopoulos, says that during the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation, as well as the determination to strengthen Cyprus-Slovenia relations in the fields of defense, tourism, trade and services.
The President of the Republic also expressed gratitude for Slovenia’s principled stance on the Cyprus issue, as well as its long-standing participation in the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
President Christodoulides informed the Slovenian Prime Minister about the priorities of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
He noted that issues such as migration, security, MFF, competitiveness, strengthening the autonomy strategy, EU enlargement, as well as strengthening the EU’s relations with the Eastern Mediterranean region and the wider Middle East will be highlighted.
