FinMin says will preside over Eurogroup until election of new chair, “issue should not be overemphasized”

Cyprus Finance Minister Makis Keravnos clarified on Wednesday that he will be presiding over Eurogroup until a new Head is elected, following the resignation of Paschal Donohoe, who is assuming post at the World Bank.

Keravnos was invited by the press to say how he feels about taking over the post.

“This is a very simple matter, let’s not exaggerate it”, he said.

He explained that the President of the Eurogroup has submitted his resignation and he was asked to chair the next meeting or meetings until a new Head is elected.

“I had already done this three months ago”, the Cyprus Minister noted.
