Cyprus Meteorology Department has issued a yellow warning for extreme maximum temperature for Friday, while the risk of forest fires remains on red alert.
It will come into effect from 1400 to 1630 local time. The inland maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 40 degrees Celsius.
The risk of forest fires remains on red alert, the Forestry Department said. According to the law, causing a fire constitutes an offenCe that carries severe penalties. The public is urged to be particularly careful when out and to completely avoid activities that may cause a fire.
