A Greek Cypriot couple illegally detained by the puppet regime in Cyprus’ occupied areas since last July, returned home on Tuesday evening.
A press release issued by Keravnos Strovolos basketball team, as some of the detainees are long time associates, said that Andreas and Annie Kyprianou returned home at last, following the return of three other Greek Cypriots who were illegally arrested with them.
Keravnos Strovolos refers to feelings of relief as this ordeal is over and thanks those who contributed to ending the unjust, illegal and completely unjustified brutality.
It also thanks a group of Turkish Cypriots, “who, against the occupation regime demonstrated particular sensitivity and supported the Greek Cypriots.”
All Greek Cypriots were ‘arrested’ on July 19 in the Turkish-occupied village of Trikomo, in the northern part of Cyprus, while visiting their properties and were charged with ‘illegal entry’ and other charges.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
