Cyprus Department of Meteorology forecasts rain, isolated storms a drop in the temperature up to 4 degrees Celsius until Sunday. Snow or sleet is expected over the Troodos mountains.
Meteorological Officer Panagiotis Georgiou told the Cyprus News Agency on Wednesday that weak high pressure affecting the region is expected to cause local rain, isolated storms and possible hail, on Christmas Day.
He added that sleet or snow could fall in the highest peaks of Troodos, while winds will blow mainly northeasterly to southeasterly, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and the sea will be slightly rough.
He also said that the temperature on Christmas will rise to around 19 degrees inland, around 20 on the coast and around 9 degrees in the higher mountains. These temperatures will persist until Friday, but on Saturday and Sunday a drop in temperature of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected.
Weather will be mainly cloudy at times and isolated rain or even a storm is expected mainly after noon, Georgiou told the Cyprus News Agency.
