European Parliament President Roberta Metsola officially welcomed on Monday morning Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides at the institution’s premises in Strasbourg.
President Christodoulides was welcomed by Metsola at the main entrance of the building where heads of states and governments always enter. The two leaders stood next to the flags of Cyprus and the EU as the Cypriot national anthem and the Ode to Joy were heard.
Right now Presidents Christodoulides and Metsola are having a tête-à-tête meeting while expanded talks will follow.
Afterwards, the President will address the European Parliament plenary and will present the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
President Christodoulides is accompanied in Strasbourg by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, head of his Press Office Victor Papadopoulos, Cyprus’ Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Christina Rafti and other officials.
