The photography exhibition “Nicosia International Airport” by Cypriot photographer Andros Efstathiou will be presented at the European Parliament in Brussels, on Tuesday, as part of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Isnotgallery said in a press release that the exhibition presents a photographic series by Andros Efstathiou, documenting the abandoned site of Nicosia’s former airport, and works of art from the European Parliament Contemporary art collection, within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
“Through a restrained and almost theatrical gaze, Efstathiou approaches the airport not as a historical document but as a monument to interruption, as a place where absence, waiting and incompletion become central narrative forces,” the press release noted.
It further added that “the exhibition reflects on memory, spectatorship and national narrative within contemporary Cypriot art, offering a quiet yet politically resonant reading of the landscape.”
The hosts of the opening of the exhibition are Deputy Minister of Culture Vasiliki Kassianidou and MEP, Quaestor and Chair of Artistic Committee, Miriam Lexmann on Tuesday, January 27th 2026.
