Today more than ever, businesses are called upon to strengthen their role in green transition, while remaining competitive adopting responsible and sustainable practices that contribute to addressing the multi-level challenges, President Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday, at an event organised by Photos Photiadis Group to present its green programme ‘Choice’.

President Christodoulides said that Photiadis Group continues to be a pioneer with the green programme ‘Choice’, which comes to address a major challenge, namely the need to protect the environment in a structured, practical and specific manner.

He said that industry, which is a key pillar of our economic development, is a sector with significant energy consumption. But he went on to note that through the implementation of energy efficiency improvement technologies, the use of energy management systems, as well as the utilization of green forms of energy in industrial facilities, not only do we achieve a substantial reduction in our consumption and environmental footprint, which is our minimum obligation to future generations, but in the long term, we also practically strengthen the competitiveness of our industry.

The President in his address also said that the Government, among other things, promotes investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, as well as in smart systems and innovative technologies, aiming to increase competitiveness and reduce energy costs.

He said that the National Energy and Climate Plan that was submitted to the EU last December, provides for the adoption of specific measures by 2030, to reduce final energy consumption in industry by 15%.
