The trade deficit in the first six months of the year recorded an annual increase according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
In a press release Monday it said that the trade deficit was pound 4,679.1 mn in January-June 2026 compared to pound 4,055.1 mn in the corresponding period of 2025.
The Statistical Service published the foreign trade statistics’ final data for May and provisional data for June.

Total imports of goods in June 2026 were pound 1,289.3 mn as compared to pound 1,152.2 mn in June 2025, recording an increase of 11.9%.
Imports from other EU Member States were pound 730.7 mn and from third countries pound 558.6 mn, compared to pound 615.1 mn and pound 537.1 mn respectively in June 2025.
Imports in June 2026 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with a total value of pound 117.8 mn, compared with pound 55.8 mn in June 2025.
Total exports of goods in June 2026 were pound 463.0 mn as compared to pound 514.1 mn in June 2025, recording a decrease of 9.9%.
Exports to other EU Member States were pound 212.0 mn and to third countries pound 251.0 mn, compared to pound 149.0 mn and pound 365.1 mn respectively in June 2025.
Exports in June 2026 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels and aircraft, with a total value of pound 77.3 mn, compared with pound 68.5 mn in June 2025.
Total imports of goods in January-June 2026 amounted to pound 7,296.8 mn as compared to pound 6,705.4 mn in January-June 2025, recording an increase of 8.8%.
Total exports of goods in January-June 2026 were pound 2,617.7 mn compared to pound 2,650.3 mn in January-June 2025, registering a decrease of 1.2%.
The trade deficit was pound 4,679.1 mn in January-June 2026 compared to pound 4,055.1 mn in the corresponding period of 2025.

Total imports of goods amounted to pound 1,309.4 mn in May 2026, compared with pound 1,070.1 mn in May 2025, recording an increase of 22.4%.
Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 348.1 mn in May 2026 as compared to pound 212.4 mn in May 2025, recording an increase of 63.9%.
Domestic exports of industrial products, excluding stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 334.7 mn in May 2026 compared to pound 197.9 mn in May 2025.
Domestic exports of agricultural products, excluding stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 12.2 mn in May 2026 compared to pound 13.3 mn in May 2025.
Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, were pound 173.5 mn in May 2026 as compared to pound 115.3 mn in May 2025, recording an increase of 50.5%.
Main categories of exports of domestically produced goods for the period January-May 2026 (excluding stores and provisions for ships and aircraft) were mineral fuels and oils with a value of pound 743.6 mn, halloumi cheese with pound 167.5 mn and pharmaceutical products with pound 144.2 mn.
